Retained list due out today

Recommended Posts

Not sure what time but LJ said the list is due out today. LJ and Macca on the wireless tonight with 20p to discuss...

I'd expect a few obvious candidates on their way such as Wilbs and O'Neil (Wilbs OOC and Gaz paid up). Possibly Tomlin but imagine he'll be transfer listed.

Can also see Bobby possibly going on the transfer list too and Hegeler.

Mark Little I'd imagine will be offered a 1 year deal and he'll dismiss it and do a Bosman elsewhere.

Will update the thread when the list is put out for the public...

You fit in soooo well on here .

:yes:

I have zero affiliation with City. In fact, the only people I know who work down there is a steward and a concession cashier, one of which couldn't even tell you the names of the players!

Thought everyone knew Wilbs and Little were OOC and O'Neil was on a 2 year deal? :blink:

Wilbs will be given another year IMO.

Who was left out of the match day squad for the last few games? That will be a clue as to who's leaving.

Been thinking about this and I think despite a few good games at the back end of the season Little will be released. I think Wilbs will be offered a coaching role but no playing contract and Bobby Reid, Scott Golbourne and possibly Engvall will be made available for transfer.

I don't see us actively pimping Tomlin etc around as we'll want a good price if he goes and showing our hand won't help that.

When you consider Giefer, Matthews, Tammy and Cotterill will (or have) returned to their club then the squad looks more manageable at those sort of numbers.

I'm not so sure.  The thinking on this loan to Sweden could be that he gets playing time over the English off-season.  Idea being that he can then hit the ground running once the Swedish season finishes, or we can recall him in August (if we have such a clause).  I suspect we will give him another go.  I keep forgetting that he's only 20.

@Septic Peg why Hegeler?

Personally I wouldn't even debate doing anything with Engvall bar letting him bang a ton of goals in over there and then bringing him back with the intent of using extensively next season...but I'm not Lee Johnson who really doesn't seem to fancy him for some reason.

Why would we want to keep Little. I am the only one who thinks he is not good enough for the Championship.

@EnclosureSurge @ExiledAjax

I mentioned Hegeler as I feel he wouldn't be needed as cover for CM/CH.

Admittedly, he is one of the ones I was in two minds of suggesting as being on the list. The other was Mags.

Like I said, just guesswork on my part.

Do we announce people who are going to be transfer listed? I thought it was just about players who's contracts are up.

The phrase "made available for transfer" has been used in the past.

Cant agree wirh the Hegeler shout. Theres been talk from LJ about using him as someone to build the side around next year.

I know he hasnt had the most game time, but in a relegation fight its better to go back to tried and tested (Smith and Pack) in midfield, than wait for a player to adapt to our leagues speed.

I do t think the retained list is there to highlight who we are transfer listing. It's just for those contracts we aren't renewing and loans we aren't retaining.

Will the retained list not just be who is offered new contracts? Didn't think that they'll announce who's transfer listed. Always thought that would be kept a bit hush hush.

Bottom line is that kind of info is a strictly confidential matter and very few people know it's content.

Its common practise for some clubs to announce both together see examples below from Peterborough and Sheff Utd:

Same for me mate. Guaranteed that I've got some, if not all of it wrong.

Fully expect an announcement now saying Flint, Frank, COD and Joey B are up for sale and they are keeping Tomlin and Mark Little... this is City after all...

Wilbs offered coaching role, he wants to be player/coach. Yet to be accepted or declined.

So I've heard.

Tinnion suggests Engvall has a future here.  So I'm with you Ajax on this one.

Hegeler is class, or was class in his first few games, especially as a defender.  In midfield it was too fast for him.  But you're right, spend the pre-season getting him adjusted, and he could be like a new player.  If not, I'd expect us to make a profit on the €300k.

Peterborough is their policy.  Any player in their final year is teansfer listed.  They don't like to take the risk of a player going on a Bosman OOC.

not sure about Sheffield Utd though.

Is this one of those traps where I tell you it was C-Fur, but then you tell me you know I'm lying because Joe Bryan doesn't have a cat called C-Fur?

I am doing really well on transfer speculation cliche nonsense bingo.

- "pay up his contract" - check

- "give him a coaching role" - check

- "find a talented young striker from the continent" - check.

I just need a "offer him a pay as you play deal" and a "go get him Steve" and I will have a full house. Fingers crossed.

@Septic Peg why Hegeler?

Thought it was reluctantly agreed for him to go abroad when we wanted him loaned out to a domestic club. Problem of him playing through the summer and potentially coming back in August is that should he start to feature in the 1st 11, he'll be burnt out by Christmas

I wish people would stop saying LJ doesn't rate Engvall. It's quite clear he was in the same category as Taylor Moore, Josh Brownhill and Callum O'Dowda. Brought in to develop and cover here and there if needed. Gustav like Taylor Moore found himself behind more experienced players(and Tammy) thus went on loan. He's got a future here and suggest from what I've seen of him he can be a Matty Taylor type with the better touch and footballing brain.

I only expect Little and Wilbraham to be mentioned along with maybe a few youngsters who they haven't renewed(if any). I know some clubs say these players are free to leave as well but I can't see many if any being said. Our club doesn't seem to be that forward about anything in the transfer market so if players like Hegeler, Reid, Tomlin, GON and Golbourne are free to leave the club then we will tell them and their agents but probably wouldn't publicly state as such.

Just what we need, another inexperienced coach.

No sentiment for me. Thank Wilbs and Little for the fantastic contribution to the club but release. Make Bobby Reid, O'Neil and possibly Tomlin available for transfer. Same with Fielding if a new GK is lined up. May sound tough but if we want to progress we have to be ruthless with our budget.

Joe is the owner of his cat's niece too?

Not a trap. It was in Well Red that he has a cat called C-Fur. Also has a budgie called Smuggler...

Hegeler won't be going anywhere. He was brought in specifically for his Champions League experience that will be crucial for us in 3 seasons time.

I know this for a fact as the voices in my head told me so.

Interesting...

Held up due to Wilbs wanting to be player/coach maybe? Rumour courtesy of @Fordy62 via Joe Bryan's cat's niece, C-Fur.

This is the Evil Post though. So it'll be out within the hour I don't doubt...
