David Luiz - Gifts to Team Mates

When I hear things like this, I really do wonder if I should continue contributing in a very small way to the obscene richness of modern footballers and other sports.I love the game but not what has happened financially to it.

David Luis would get some respect from me if he did something worthwhile with his enormous wealth, like helping the poverty stricken families in his native Brasil.

You'd be surprised about how many footballers do contribute to where they came from. I don't have to many examples because I'm sat on the bog at work, but one I remember is kocielny (spelt wrong but can't check) purchased a failing factory in his home town and has kept the business going so 150 people didn't lose their jobs.

Well I'm wondering what Tammy bought our lads, he's got a lot to live up to if he will be playing along side that bunch of players at Chelsea.

Seriously I hope he doesn't ever go down that road, yes I realise he is partly there having flash cars and money at 19 years old, but I hope he at least keeps it a bit real.

This is a bugger.

I was just about to do the same with all my wonderful OTIB Team mates. Someone must have leaked my plan. Bloody Sideshow Bob has got in there first and nicked the idea

Now it will just look like copying. So I won't bother. Sorry.

My car is probably worth less than a replacement key for it.

Life used to be so much easier when you only needed a wire coat hanger and a flat head screwdriver.

I want a 70's Ford Escort. :(

38k a key. Could probably get 3800 of mine for it. Dont think a 20 year old 5th hand Toyota Yaris goes for much!

This is probably our equivalent of getting team beers in on a lunchtime.

Drogba has done some good work back in the Ivory Coast, setting up a hospital I think.  Of course 'The Didier Drogba Foundation' or something. That didn't make him any less of a deplorable c*** at Chelsea.

Tbf, I think quite a bit of football's wealth does go back in, but isn't mentioned.

There was a talented and well known Brazilian lad (Bobeto?) in the 90's, playing in Italy who sent 90% of his gross income home.

To see David Luiz lauding it in front of his peasant sheep though, when 1/7 of the planets population (one billion people) are literally starving to death is disgusting.

I found it very difficult to counter the very strong arguments of girls working on just about minimum wages for long hours in a residential home when Football came on the TV.

Its unjustifiable and completely out of hand.

You are right.

Drogba has committed a large part of his fortune to different schemes in his native country. He is worshipped there as a god.

There was talk of him going into politics. If he did, he would win easily.

I don't know whether he does or does not. I know that many people in the entertainment world (sport, music and films) do a lot of charitable work which they prefer to keep quiet about. I know for instance, having lived in Portugal for several years, that CR9 does a lot of work with children and other good causes in his home country.

But spending that sort of money as "presents" for the other very rich people at Chelsea, sticks in my gullet a bit, doesn't it you? At £33,000 per key fob, when that is about one days pay, seems to be like a five year old buying their classmates a Mars bar. The difference is that 30 Mars bars would not make much difference whereas £1 million would.

Giving cars as gifts to mega rich people?

What the **** does the guy think when he gets involved in the obligatory charity stuff with Chelsea?

I'd love to have the money to do more good. I certainly wouldn't have any left to give to mega rich people.

****.

It does answer the question "what do you buy the person who has everything?" It must be hard to find something unique.

By the way, for all the criticism of him and his wage demands, Adebayor was apparently putting more money into schooling in his home country than his own government!

Football wages are no different to a lot of other peoples who are in the top 1% of their profession.

its his money and he can do what he likes with it, nobody ever slags off SL for being minted so why do footballers get it?
