First friendly date of the summer confirmed.

  • City will travel to Yeovil in pre-season
  • Fixture is club's first confirmed date of the summer
  • City were 2-1 victors at Huish Park last year
City will travel to Huish Park to face Yeovil Town in the club’s first confirmed pre-season friendly of 2017/18.

The fixture, which takes place on Saturday, July 15th (3pm kick-off), will be a repeat of last summer’s encounter that saw City triumph 2-1 in Somerset thanks to headed goals from Aden Flint and Jonathan Kodjia.

It means Lee Johnson will again go head to head with former Glovers team-mate Darren Way in the technical area.

Yeovil were the draw specialists of Sky Bet League Two this season but only bottom club Leyton Orient won fewer games.

Way’s men ultimately finished four points clear of relegation in 20th place.

Ticket prices are still to be confirmed, while more summer friendly dates will be announced in due course.

Pointless. Need better competition to get them match ready for the level they will need for our league.

would also be good to have some high profile home friendlies to draw crowds in

no you don't

Pre-season is about match fitness, and high profile friendlies rarely draw huge crowds unless it was the real big boys (I'm talking Real Madrid's and Man United's of this world)

Yeah, like when we played quality teams in Gambia..... we wouldn't of won the double unless we played 80mins against such great opposition.

One against Chelsea would show how strong our links are

There wouldn't really be much benefit to either side unless we wanted a reasonably full AG at pre season. Not sure what the benenfit of 'showing how strong our links are' is either really.

A few local sides is fine for fitness, makes sense. I hope we get a good pre season tour somewhere fun for the fans, maybe one reasonably high profile home friendly against a decent European side that's a genuine test but also competitive and winnable.

Why do we play the same old teams every pre season?

All these teams are within our potential catchment area so plenty of current and future City fans to attract. We can also forge relationships with local sides for loans and maybe future recruitment.
