Does it get a count if you literally just switch it on or do you have to watch it for certain amount of time! Also what about if you sky plus it then watch later in the day? Either way, it doesn't affect the numbers greatly as the base figure is so large. The figures for our games are very reasonable though; you'd have thought that based upon that we would get more air time - you can see why the likes of Newcastle, Villa and Leeds are on so often. Can only find the top thirty programmes for the week. Coming in at number thirty in the table(six o clock news) with a audience of 3.36 million No prem games and the game kicked off at 17:20pm on Saturday evening Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not quite as simple as that @Robbored How are TV viewing figures calculated? How much of a programme do you have to watch before you are deemed to have "viewed" it? THERE is a panel, administered by BARB, of around 4,000 UK households, each of which has a monitoring device - a "peoplemeter" - attached to the television set(s). The 13,000-odd individuals in these households are taken to represent the entire viewing population, although the importance (weight) of each panellist is varied so as to represent the general population as accurately as possible when grouped by socio-demographic criteria. You only have to watch a programme for one minute to be deemed a viewer, but if the programme is, say, 30 minutes long, then this single minute only counts for 1/30 of the programme. So the published "ratings" are actually an average for each of the minutes of the programme. I have heard of a country in South America where the people-meters are connected directly to the TV broadcasters, who can change their output in real-time to satisfy the panel. What happens if you playback programmes from PVRs like Sky+? Is this included? Yes, non-live viewing from PVRs like Sky+ and other recording devices such as DVDRs are measured and included in the viewing figures as timeshift viewing. If a programme has been viewed on the same day as the original broadcast the viewing will be included in the overnight files as VOSDAL data. In many cases landlords can't afford it. My local club recently got rid of Sky but kept BT sport.
