Super
Does that mean Morgan can go back and play for Ireland then?

Lanterne Rouge
Fair play to both, it`s been a long time coming. I hate closed shops whatever the sport, if you`re good enough you should be allowed in - who would have said twenty years ago that Bangladesh would finish in the top four at the ICC Champions Trophy?
Super
You do have to wonder how many will turn up in the west indies to watch Afghanistan!

MichaelRobartes
Afghanistan's cricketing rise is one of the great sporting stories. Well done to them, fully deserved
Mr Popodopolous
Is great to see- well deserved for both of these. Good to expand the game. Afghanistan's rise in particular has been phenomenal. In a sense though, being located where they are- in and around Pakistan- there should be no shortage of raw talent. Still it's astonishing.
PHILINFRANCE
Not exactly 'Test Cricket', but rather 'International Cricket'. If you can find the time, I recommend that you try and find a few minutes to read this heartwarming story. http://www.thecricketmonthly.com/story/1092878/an-austrian-odyssey

Lanterne Rouge
In other cricket news, Henry Blofeld is to retire from TMS in the summer. The last of the old `uns from a time when cricket was a gentler sport. I really can`t imagine John Arlott commentating on a T20 game - Johnners would have made a pretty good fist of it though I think.
Mr Popodopolous
Afghanistan with that great young spinner, in typical subcontinental conditions... Wouldn't understimate the challenge that could pose. Ireland- well conditions are more like ours, their players may not have the same x-Factor as Afghanistan (wouldn't surprise me if Afghanistan have flair like Pakistan tbh) but a lot of players with County experience, maybe Morgan, Rankin would go back. Yeah they could pose a challenge, could see with the right combo a tough batting line up. Edited June 23, 2017 by Mr Popodopolous

Yeah they could pose a challenge, could see with the right combo a tough batting line up. Rankin came back to play for us last year. I don't think there's much chance of Morgan coming back, although that would be great. This might attract more second generation guys to come over from England too. I think we have some good players but have underachieved in the last couple of years. I suspect losing Simmons didn't help. Some of the guys who came through a few years ago need to step up. Really hope this isn't a token gesture and we will actually get some decent series rather than thrown the bone of an odd test every now and then. Sacrificed the match by giving Livingstone a go, if it were a must win Morgan would have come in at 4 and it would have been a cruise. I know its never good to judge players on 1 game but Livingstone didn't show anything to think he could be an international T20 player. Northern Red
Livingstone is an odd one, he can hit the ball a long way but his first class form is better than his limited overs record. He's more likely to be a Test player in the short-medium term.
Lrrr
England - 'Everyone will get a game' and then don't give Overton a go all series, despite choosing to leave Morgan out so others get a game...?
Lrrr
South Africa's selection shows they're taking it seriously with their team selection, England messing around does take the piss a bit for the crowd.

Because apparently it was their intention initially, they've played 4/5 uncapped players but probably looked at the pitch today and decided against Overton. Jordan bowled like a sack of **** last game so why not give Craig a go?
