As last season progressed it seemed as though he wouldn't fit into LJ's preferred team formation. So regardless of the rumoured falling out, and variable form, it makes sense for him to go. I hope he gets a good reception when he comes back.

I am sure that he will as long as he acts with some dignity and does not look to wind the crowd up, which might be at all order for him.

I dont think its laughable. I really really want to be pissed off about this but in truth im not. I think im actually relieved we have got 2.9 million back, I just hope I dont eat my words when we play them.

Its now written in the stars that Lee will play out of his skin v us,and be the player at Cardiff we wanted to see here...right deal/move at this time for all parties-thanks for some great memories Lee....

If we had loaned him to Cardiff a lot of people would have lost their shit. It's a shame it didn't work out as he is a very talented player. I hope we manage to find a player with a similar amount of flair to replace him.

Quote from Colin:

"It's funny how things work. You think you've lost a player and you're disappointed," Warnock added.

"And out of the blue your number one target becomes available. That's fate at times and let's hope they've played us a good hand.

"Although Jonny Hayes was top of my list, he was more of a wide player. This player (Tomlin) specialises in that middle area, creating something for our wide players and strikers.

"I've been looking at certain areas and certain players because we need goals. We're a difficult side to play against, but you still need a player who can unlock the door and get the you the three points.

"He was top of my list at one stage. But I didn't think we'd be able to get him from Bristol City at the time.

"We were going to have to pay a substantial loan fee for him. But in the end I don't think Bristol City fancied that idea, so Mehmet (Dalman) decided to go in and buy him."

He's not available, then he suddenly is. We surely have some sort of replacement lined up?

He wasn't available on loan.

So what are we doing with the money? New goalkeeper perhaps? I haven't paid attention to pre season other than the scorers of the 11-0.

If we had half a sodding brain that money would go back into the midfield.

My view on all this. Tomlin didn't perform last year. Something went horribly wrong with the manager during the period where LJ was all over the place and some will say the two are connected, that it was more bad management. What is equally true is that a model professional would have pushed through this and any personal problems, proving themselves right with performances on the pitch.

As someone who sang 'sign him up'  to Lansdown in the City bar during the club awards following the final game the season before, I find the whole situation awfully sad.  I also think that sadly it is the best thing for him to move on.  Johnson takes some of the blame but so does Tomlin.

Time to move on and re-invest funds in another quality signing now.

I expect a midfielder will be in by the end of next week for around the 3 million mark.

We seem to play hardball with transfers and tend not to let someone go until the replacement is at least lined up,

Whether that replacement is any good remains to be seen but getting deals done or selling players for profit seems to be Mark Ashton's strong point, we'd of let him run down his contract or sold him for 500k before ashton

In time we will know if there is any truth in this.

A simple view from a fan who has never met LT would sum him up like this...

Pros: Maverick, able to produce magical goals / moments, good with a dead ball

Cons: Maverick, disappears during games, not a team player, questionable work ethic, egocentric, may have 'issues'

Certainly a marmite / maverick character. On balance he is not my kind of player, so provided we can broker a reasonable deal I'd wish him well.

So time has told us the truth.

Good move for BCFC and LT, whether it's good or not for Cardiff remains to be seen.

Well. Let's hope we re-invest some of the money in new batteries for our much-acclaimed (by Club Officials) DNA test kits.

Mystic Meg could've done a better job last Summer...... Tomlin, Matthews, GON, Engvel.

No doubt MA will be back in front of the cameras in late August acclaiming his work in the transfer market. Let's hope he does a better job this year 'cause this is LJs last chance and I still have no idea of our best eleven, pattern of play or even the spine of the team.

Please, no more for the development squad, foreign punts, just solid Championship players from now on. Ta.

Why is this stupid?
Seems like a good deal for us and Tomlin imo.

Only a short while ago our Head Coach told us that he planned to build a team around Tomlin. Now we realise that we have just been subjected to even more bullshit and the season hasn't even started yet. My piss is at boiling point.

Warnock will do well with him.  He is an excellent man manager. That's the issue we had. Club seriously need to sign some players now.
