Whenever Fammy got the ball he was surrounded by Brentford players and had few options open to him . I firmly believe we lost the battle in midfield. Defence stood firm for most of the time but resorted to long balls as there was no one offering themselves in the middle. We looked like a plucky lower division side up against a top team in the cup . I put it down to tactics and fatigue. Our pressing game is very wearing , even when done intelligently. I think Pisano and Fammy looked tired , evidently not used to the attrition of this tough, tough league. damn you technology . if in doubt reboot(football) or hit the anykey(most managers). It seemed pretty obvious that Đurić must have a relatively serious problem that was not responding to treatment. There may of course be some extenuating circumstance that we're unaware of that would account for the slow response to the situation, but on the face of it they do seem to have been sleepwalking into something of a mini-crisis with regard to strikers, knowing that Taylor was still some way off, Wilbs was going to be released from his contract and allowed to leave and then sanctioning Engvall's loan. Three forwards missing who might reasonably have been expected to be in and around the first team leaves a sizeable gap in your match day squad, even if they wouldn't necessarily have been seen as automatic choices to start games. Recruiting is a tricky process and one doesn't wish to be over-critical of everything the club does or fails to do, but they do appear to have been slow to see this issue coming. Flap on now to find cover with just a couple of weeks left to act. A loan would seem the best solution in an ideal world, given that we're talking about cover for long-term injury absence. What you describe seems to happen all the time and not just at our club. I predicted this announcement a couple of weeks ago on here for that very reason. Weeks have been wasted dithering when Đurić could have been well on the way to recovery by now. Given we are told on a weekly basis that Taylor is almost ready I fear we will get the same announcement about him in a couple of weeks. I'm baffled as to why this seems to happen so often. It usually goes: 1. He'll be out for a week. 2. Actually he'll be out for another 2weeks. 3. Progressing well, back soon. 4. Had a setback, add on another couple of weeks. 5. Seen a specialist, had an injection, no op needed. 6. Had another setback, seeing another specialist. 7. Op needed, back in x weeks. 8. Actually back in x weeks + 4. 9. Injury recurs, rinse and repeat.

Exactly topman would be an ideal cover for Đurić never mind there`s always Engvall, now theres a new signing already signed will LJ play him though or has there been a spat or has he had his head turned as well

They haven't got much wriggle room left to get something sorted.

And is it wrong to give an opportunity to a youngster lke Hinds? No, but in respect of Đurić he was on the verge of a return according to LJ, which is why Engvall went on loan. Thus, what changed in the space of days.....No problem with Hinds being given a chance, BUT why has the same privilege not been given to our 2 million pound striker Engvall - when he has been scoring, is match sharp and has by all accounts done well. It makes no sense...

Just hope more of our fans get behind him this season . If we get the right striker in I can see plenty of assists from Matty and the odd goal or two thrown in for good measure I stand corrected. It's really a term of endearment honest . Big season for him , not helped as he's playing catch up

In short I don't know, but I would guess Engvall has not settled in England, is maybe homesick, and if as rumoured on here the rest of the squad are making jokes about him (he won a competition to be a player for a year) has not got on with the others then maybe, City are giving him a little time to sort things out. Makes sense to me, could be boll....s. Don't need unhappy bunnies in the camp

Responding to my own post here, but having criticised for an apparently slow reaction to an emerging problem, feel one must also give credit where due. Within hours of me making the above comment, City have signed a striker. Leaving aside the merits or otherwise of the player himself, fair play to LJ, MA et al for moving quickly to secure this one.
