I have to, I just have to.

Will no one think of the children and the future of the real game of Association Football?... when as kids we kicked a ball about in the streets, jumpers for goal posts, and anything that resembled a football would do...why in those days we even as a Nation won the World Cup, so you see I just cannot relent.

See all the gamer tits have all rubbished this, touched a nerve have I football nerds?

If you attribute some of our failure as a national team to video games, how do you explain us not winning anything since 1966 - 1993 (when the first FIFA was released) then?

The games aren't exclusively played in this country you realise. Have the Spanish or German youth 'gone soft' too then? I can assure you a great many of them play the game as much as we do!

Oh well - enjoy your 'fishing trip' I suppose.

Pretty much follows that by not actively playing the game at a young age will reflect badly on the game Nationally, well just look at the record, since 1966, not saying that we have to ditch such games, but I get concerned that some treat games as the real thing, and try and justify it, they can't.

Right fish wrong size, I only photograph 'doubles' . Keeping on the fish theme, England are plummeting down FIFA rankings, and will soon be the 'minnows' I am sure, no matter though we can all be winners on FIFA 17 if we keep exercising our thumbs rather than our feet, sad innit?

Come back when you can prove that playing FIFA is the reason why England haven’t won a World Cup for 50 years.

Of course I can't 'prove' it, but that's the first comment a guilty man makes ''prove it!! I am afraid the wight of evidence is overwhelming in favour of me.

Fact is we need to get the kids playing football on grass, not a computer screen, how can anyone argue with that?

But they will, the flabby game players will

No, it isnt.

These games are popular worldwide, there will be people from all nations playing these games, including Germans and Portugese, Spaniards, Italians and Brazilians. Yet all these nations have won a major tournament since 2000

Perhaps the real problem is the fact our coaching set up has been years behind all of these?

No, ok, blame computer games because you don't 'get' them.

The real fact is that only one nation can win each tournament and for years we have had overpaid crap who care more about their wages at their club than doing their country proud, add to that managers being too afraid to drop 'name' players regardless of form and a coaching set up constantly being overhauled.

Just as a final point, this current England squad is the first one to contain any players who would have grown up with the games being vaguely popular.

So your argument actually end up having some weight one day (unlikely as there are far bigger issues), but right now it is complete and utter dross.

So you can discredit the senior team for not winning anything but not credit the youth teams for being successful? Its not even a case of kids will do one or the other, most kids will play football and play games like fifa if they're interested in football.

One thing thats annoyed me this year is this new Squad battles - great idea. I'm not great at the game, but like building my squad and team slowly. Just managed to be 2-1 up against a team with 30 mins to go, they bring on Ronaldo who scores immediately and then again 5 minutes later and I lose 3-2. Whats the point?

Also, its well documented that people who prefer fishing are perverts as they like handling long wet slimy things. I am afraid the wight of evidence is overwhelming in favour of me.

You are the OTIB version of Katie Hopkins where you're morals and beliefs are based on being as objectionable as possible.

You are saying that England haven't won a competition in over 50 years because of the rise of computer games, however this rise is just as great in the countries that have won trophies. Asking you to prove your theory is not a sign that the poster is losing the argument, it's that your suggestions have no basis whatsoever.

Maybe it is due to being from an older generation you feel that games are for kids, but I see no difference between playing a computer game or watching a film. Historically games probably were intended for kids, but the kids who have grown up with these games have grown up now into adults and the games have developed to allow for this. There are many more games on the market for adults these days.

I agree that kids should be out getting exercise and socialising too, but you are suggesting it is one or the other. I work full time and have kids, and I play the odd game for a couple of hours a week.. it can hardly be described as damaging.

There is no single of proof I can give, but I can give you the facts as to child obesity, and that it is rising, about 10% of 10-13 year old are officially obese, due to a poor diet of too much fatty foods and lack of exercise. That is a staggering amount, when I was at school a 'fat' child was quite a rarity, but we did eat less and play more, that is certain.

I am not knocking the development of these game, it's a natural progression, as said I was very much there at the start, and with three young boys growing up in the 80's it was a priority for them, but they did play real football, and did all the things that kids do, cycle rides walks etc, but the youth of today are very much more less inclined to do that, hence the increase in obesity.

It doesn't require much thought to recognise this will impact on the National game in time, well probably not in time, but already has, sure you can point to Germany as being successful and even France, but I can only suggest that Germany has a better understanding of control, and with France a lot of their top players probably never had the luxuries  of such games and came from impovrished backgrounds as are South American footballers too, with street / beach football being an every day thing. Learning how to control/ kick a ball at a young age has a huge benefit to an aspiring footballer, and to already possess this skill before playing for a club has a huge advantage. At the moment I can't think of a true footballing legend that did not come from a tough background..can you?

See that's my point.

No, you are a troll because your post doesn't have a point, you are inventing an imaginary reason to try and belittle others for talking about something they enjoy.

If you bought your kids computer games, then by your own logic, you are the reason England haven't won anything. So you are a hypocrite as well.

What was the excuse for England not winning anything from '66 until the mid 90's, as these games didn't get huge popularity until late 90's? Perhaps kids were spending too much time doing other things, ban the skateboard, ban... fishing!

Do I wish I was off fishing (the real thing)? No, it is tedious and dull to me, but I don't go onto any threads about fishing (if there are any) and attempt to belittle others who do enjoy it.

Nonsense, come back when you can compose a decent reply without getting personal, that really does prove to me you have run out of excuses and it's that's the fall back option. All I was saying regarding fishing is that it is something to actually engage in real time, as is a real game of football, as anything would be, not playing games on a computer, no that is really boring and depressing, I know I have done it, so I feel your pain.

You make my point better than I ever could...50 years and counting...the countries you mention don't have youth that are 10% obese,

Next?

Or we have a shit method for determining 'obesity', BMI is useless as it discounts too much information and simply calculates height against weight while factoring age and gender. It classifies plenty of kids who are perfectly healthy as overweight/obese despite them being perfectly active.

Yep, troll.

By your own reasoning you have "run out of excuses"

All thread you have been calling people nerds, geeks, whatever because they like these games, seems a bit personal.

I said you were are troll because you are trolling. I said you were a hypocrite because you lament (and slag off people for) playing these games, yet bought them yourself for your son.

So which is it, a hypocrite or a troll?

FIFA really has been going downhill for the last 4 years but this one just tops it off.
Online seasons it doesn't matter how skilled you are, it's all about pace and luck.
Career mode has just got worse and worse year by year, it's the exact same game as it was 3-4 years ago.
EA do not care about the actual game play, all they care about is the money they make from it because sadly it's competitor which is Konami just cannot match it for cash as it doesn't get the naming rights that EA gets.
PES is actually a better game to play than FIFA now.

You call 'Troll' when you realise that you cannot argue anymore, I put up a good reason as to why that now and in the future English Football will decline and you post this garbage, I gave reasons why I can comment because I was a part of the problem if you will, but you cannot see that can you? I am trying to be honest, and you are really up to your neck in all this ludicrous gaming rubbish you have lost all sense of reason.

Wow it's worse than I thought.

Seek help!!

Nonsense as I put an argument with the first of the two times I said it.

You are literally lying.

I do not play any of these games., this has been stated in the thread already.

I do not even own a console that can be used as I do not own a TV.

How can I be caught up in something I do not play.

But you came onto this thread with the sole purpose of chastising those who want to spend their time on something they enjoy, despite having no interest in it yourself, but no, it is me who should "seek help" (hmm, what was that about getting personal and running out of excuses)

Some advice, one being a piece of your own-

The thread title leaves 0 room for uncertainty about the subject, so if uninterested, stay off. Or are you one of those that searches for comedians they don't like on youtube for the sole purpose of telling everyone that you don't like them?

Secondly, if you can't respond without getting personal, don't.
