Agreed on that too, some places give an assist to the fouled player when a freekick or penalty is scored. That's why I give O'Dowda an assist in the Villa home game last season. If i passed to Reid from 10 yards away and he smashed it in from 25 yards i would have an assist. Dr Balls Posted October 1, 2017 Report Share Posted October 1, 2017 In football, the assist statistic does seem something of a lottery rather than an agreed measure. Much clearer in Ice Hockey where up to 2 players get credited with assisting, and it's related to set up passes. That said, who cares! On any measure we have 2 of the top scorers, and best of all, goals coming from all over the team. That's always the sign of a team playing well.
