I used to be a full-time drivetime radio presenter. Before this career, I was a qualified training officer specialising in interviewing and presentation techniques.

I had the privilege of presenting and producing a video on the day in the life of a football league referee (Bristol's Bob Hamer-if you ever watch it, the Portsmouth referees dressing room was in fact the old Ashton Gate one under the Williams).

I'd be more than happy to offer some free one to one interviewing and presentation skills training (via skype).

That would be cool. I'd love to tell you what I had in mind and hear your feedback and expertise if that's possible?

Me and my mate who rarely comes on here are close to organising something. We’d be doing a fortnightly podcast and would like a changing 3rd person each time to join. We’ve done a podcast before and he’s done uni radio so we’re fairly competent I guess

Great sounds perfect

Also,  I’m thinking of alternating it each week as I want to interview city fans from OTIB, about why they use OTIB or why they support city. Perhaps their history with the 2. Maybe meet them in a pub or Skype maybe. It won’t be set up instantly but we’ll try to get things up and running ASAP. If more people want to do an OTIB one ours can be something seperate. I might let my mate host the main podcast so if loads of people want to get involved I could just do the 1 to 1 thing one week and then sit out the next week for the podcast.

I think having a third guest panellist discussing why they support city etc is a good idea, I would steer clear of too much emphasis on their motivation for posting on OTIB etc because it's could be a bit boring. Outside of regular posters on here, I don't think it would appeal to many people.

Overall though - would be great if you two could get things going.

I agree with this.

Wouldnt want the podcast to be too OTIB centric.

Yeah don't think it's the right approach. The Ipswich one had the right sort of feel I think.

I think OTIB could be a great resource for any potential podcast, particularly with getting guests.

But things like the Facebook group (where some people don't like OTIB) and Twitter (particularly the latter) hold a much bigger potential group of listeners.

Speaking of Twitter, has anyone put the feelers out there about this kind of thing?

I would do, but personally rarely tweet and have about 20 followers

Not sure it's needed really. Just a case of making something good and promoting it well, especially for the first time.

You wouldn't want too many people getting involved in the editorial/production process - too many cooks..

I was thinking more the promotion side of things.

A Twitter account specifically for the podcast would be good once it is going, but that's getting a little ahead of ourselves.

In fact, once the podcast is going I'd be happy to run the podcast Twitter.

If a few people from here followed and retweeted it then traction would pick up.

I am also on decent terms with a couple of people at Bristol Manor Farm (I had a pint with the manager after the game last time I went) so next time I am down there I could have a word with their social media guy to see if he would help spread the word as well.

Seems like there's a real pool of expertise here.

My two pence would be that

  • I'd personally start short and sweet.  Something in the 20 minute bracket. Review a match, perhaps have one topic of discussion and keep it light.
  • Whilst a twitter account might be a bit ahead of you (and would need constant monitoring) I'd set up an email account and invite listeners to send in questions, comments or stories.  Then read a select few out at the end. Controlled listener interaction.
  • I'm a lawyer, podcasts and IP aren't my speciality but I'd be happy to cast an eye over anything that you want or need explaining - iTunes t&cs for example.
  • At the risk of sounding like one of those X Factor wasters who has been told by their mum that they can sing I have on occasion been told that I've a nice voice. I'm not in Bristol anymore but would be happy to phone something in.

It sounds good If we can have a podcast, fun and Interesting for City fans and others maybe. Was listening to the Ipswich podcast before the awaygame. Exiled Robin was the guest, Interesting  and laid back. The topic was our last season, and the team today. How LJ acted and Bigg boss believe in LJ, in our bad run. The Preston game 0-5 and so on. Recomend. Would be very nice If we can have something similar.

I'd also say before a Twitter account or even an email, it would need a name and (preferably before the name) a host.

@Youngish, @Negan (perhaps as a guest if time is an issue), @BA14 RED and @Shtanley have all shown interest.

As before I am happy to be a guest.

Next thing I guess would be location- having people in one place would be ideal, but things like Skype means people don't all have to be there.

A name.

And a time to do it.

I just did. So she had sex in a field with her husband.........big deal.  That's not unusual. Haven't we all had sex a field?

1) No I haven't.

2) He wasn't married to her, he was married to someone else.

I imagine you'd need these, I did some work for a online music website reviewing bands albums & interviewing them (basically just a YouTube podcast) I really enjoyed it so if you need any help that hasn't already been suggested  I'm happy to offer any advice I can give you!

  • A name
  • Basic equipment / editing software it's easy to edit it all together
  • A hosting website YouTube / Podbean etc
  • A good graphic for the show
  • Music (You can probably find something on Soundcloud and the artist will usually let you use them for free if you credit them)
  • Topics / running order
  • Researched questions and answers
  • With it being the only City podcast I'd try not to be too controversial I'm not saying don't voice your opinion but it might hinder your chances of getting a club official on the show in the future

Just my thoughts for whats it's worth! I really hope someone does one, would love to come on for a chat being a Northern Red.

  • A good graphic for the show - As the current crest is a registered trademark you couldn't use that. An older crest could be used though, or just something red and white that incorporates the name - there's plenty of good designers on here.
  • Music (You can probably find something on Soundcloud and the artist will usually let you use them for free if you credit them)
  • Topics / running order - personally I'd suggest 1. Review of latest match(es) 2. Guest / Discussion topic 3. Correspondence. For a run time of 20 - 30 minutes
  • Researched questions and answers
  • With it being the only City podcast I'd try not to be too controversial I'm not saying don't voice your opinion but it might hinder your chances of getting a club official on the show in the future - on the last two points you're correct.  It can't become a soapbox or mouthpiece for extreme views, they can be mentioned, but would need to be balanced.

Just my thoughts for whats it's worth! I really hope someone does one, would love to come on for a chat being a Northern Red.

Biggest problems imo will be time.  Getting a regular time each week where someone (plus guests) has time to sit down and record, edit and produce will be challenging.

I’d honestly quite happily do it, but I’d want to host it with someone. No offence to the people that do it regularly but if there isn’t a guest on its very boring listening to the same voice. My biggest problem with that though is I live in Paignton. So not sure if there are any city supporters around this neck of the woods that would be interested.

I've got a spare usb audio interface and mic if anyone wants to use it for the podcast.

Happy to run them through getting good levels, setting up a template with compression on the mic to keep the levels even etc

Also could make some title music for it as that's my job.

Regardless of the podcast, a run through on that kind of thing would be useful to me if possible.

I want to work in tech theatre and most of my experience is with lighting as that is what I prefer doing.

Am currently in a little dialogue with the Bristol Hippodrome about working as a casual technician there (unfortunately I didn't see the email from them until 2 weeks after it was sent, but trying to salvage things). Being a bit more knowledgable about the sound side of things would be of great use to me.

Like the idea and would be up for helping in any way I could. Graphic designing or whatever you may need! I think I echo others in saying to keep it simple, a review of the previous game, a guest speaker and perhaps a unique feature each week based on suggestions from the audience left on comments or something?

For  example you could get the guest to do their 1 to 11 all time city team or something?
