Just after a bit of advice on getting a new laptop, current one is dying a slow and painful death. Budget's around £500. Been using windows 7 for years and not too keen on switching to 10 but that's what everything's got now. Anyone bought something decent recently they can recommend? Cheers

I can't understand why Tomarse has not replied.

Essentially he is OTIB's answer to Which?

Have you pissed him off recently, as he does bear grudges??

What do you use it for?  to be honest the average user can get a laptop for pittance, most are miss sold expensive laptops when they are not using hardly any of its compute power.

Porn and shopping.

That is why he wants a laptop, not a mainframe.

Filthy beast.

Video editing, music making and just the average stuff really

That model of HP should be perfect for that. Pretty good specs for a good price.

Echoing what @Monkeh said, Ebuyer is a good place to find bargains. Think I picked up mine for around £300 and it's been a brilliant buy.

I do a lot of games, audio editing and music making myself and couldn't recommend it more highly.

Your video work will determine what computer you need.

Look at the video editor specs (not the minimum, if you go for the minimum specs, you'll be tearing your hair out) and work from there.

Ebuyer and Amazon are probably the best places to buy - Costco aren't too bad either and they give extended warranties.

If you can wait for it, Black Friday, November 24th.

My old laptop was getting slow and painful to use, in a pique of temper I launched it across the room, the screen broke and it was no more.  Apart from the inconvenience of having to buy a stand alone hard drive reader to access my info, it worked out well, I bought a new laptop with a solid state drive, now my life isn’t spent waiting for the thing to boot up, its up and running in seconds, I thoroughly recommend it.
