Judge will not applyacustodial sentenceas it would disappoint all of his fans or unfairly inconvenience his wife and family.  That's how daft the law of this country really is.

The only people that would really be inconvenienced would be the local pie store.

And if said pie store owners became rich, is that why they're called the upper crust?

I doubt very much if it was even legal for City to disclose anything about charges - maybe Cardiff player contract has something in it, but normally I don't expect a potential employee has to disclose anything other than convictions. I imagine they could sack him on conviction, regardless of whether he's going inside.

surely  tomlin should be the one to disclose it, otherwise he is keeping something secret that he knows could affect his career.

He should be ok from sexual predators though, he is a bit of a munter in the pretty boy stakes, so sitting down on prison benches won't be too much of a problem and he is having a lot of experience of that at present, will feel like a home from home.

And I bet he has great difficulty bending down for the soap.

Can any lawyers chip in on this - would we even be legally allowed to disclose to Cardiff (a potential new employer) if we knew he had been charged? I have a feeling that we actually wouldn't be authorised to do so, so they would have to ask him (and rely on his answer). Might be different if he had been charged and found guilty.

Either way, certainly no legal repercussions on City so no need for any of us to worry about that.

Listed on the law pages as at Leicester Crown Court tomorrow at 9am for a plea and case hearing. Be interesting to hear how he pleads. A paper article suggested the other week if he pleaded guilty he could get up to 2 years, but the entry point is 18 months suspended. So if pleading not guilty and found guilty at trial, he would almost certainly face jail time.

So what was his plea, anyone know?

If he was Premier league, he'd be on centre court.

This isn't strictly an answer to your question but it's illegal for a previous employer to provide a poor reference to potential new employers. They can only refuse to give one.

By that, I think that technically, we didn't have to mention any bad points to LT such as "alleged off field antics".

I didn't realise that was the case. I thought you could give a bad reference as long as it was accurate.

Most people in that position would probably choose not to provide one.
