I think we should be looking at someone like Ryan Woods rather than Bannan. One of the top midfield performers in the champ this season, perfect age for us (23) and would fit our philosophy more than Bannan, who's probably a bit too much of a show pony for the way we play. Woods is a bit like Brownhill mixed with some of Bannan's guile and ability to turn defence into attack.

A lot of Brentford fans reckon he's the best midfielder they've seen there. Which is saying something with some of the players that have come through recently.

With Brentford's profile and selling philosophy we'd actually have a decent chance of getting him.

I agree. I would love to see Ryan Woods in our team. He is definitely one of the best in the Championship.

There's been a few here that would love him to come to us and many of us got a good look at him today.

Probably the best midfield playmaker in the Championship but would he fit into our team and more importantly improve it.

I say yes.

Ross Wallace another who would be a great addition. Their squad is class. Can't believe they are not in the top 6.

Started the breaks Wednesday hit us on yesterday on 3 occasions, not his fault Rhodes screwed two of those chances. Also came forward on his own once, beating two of our players and went down through on goal, no penalty given but his move was that of a player of quality. Another time he broke through with a couple of quick one twos and just as he was gonna unleash a shot, Gary Hooper got in his way and the ball fell loose. He also looked to make a good out the box strike which was on target in the second half which Flint blocked.

So for all you say he didn't break us down, he created 4/5 key moments for Wednesday and but for a no penalty, block, his own player getting in his way and 2 wasted chances from Rhodes I would say his contribution was better than the rest of his team, and he would serve up the chances the likes of Taylor and Bobby need. Sad;y Pack and Josh just don't do that and he is the sort of player we need.

Yes he would cost 10m to buy and prob 30-35K a week, but with 100m the forecasted minimum you get for getting to the Premier League, and 25K+ a week for a player in the Premier League (a lot of the bigger teams paying that in this league and we've a few around the 20K mark) he would not be as unrealistic as people think if we are determined to get to the top flight this season.

Wednesday are under performing, and are already 7pts adrift of us, and 5 adrift of the playoffs. They have two tricky away games to come, whilst we have a couple of winnable ties coming up. It would be no surprise if we were 10pts clear of them coming into December.

If we can remain 3-6pts off an automatic spot going into January, and have a team like Wednesday 6-7pts off the Playoffs and 10-12pts off us which is very much a possibility, players like Bannan would not be thinking of us as Little Bristol City and if it is their desires to play Premier League football, we might be more of an attractive proposition than some fans think.

After all, last year Jordan Rhodes went to Wednesday as he saw them as a strong playoff team with a huge chance of going up and he felt he should be playing for Boro in the Prem, we was not signing for Wednesday to be playing for a mid table Championship team. Bannan wants to be playing again in the Prem, he has said that. He is also the voice of the players at Wednesday and is very frustrated with  his team mates and has said the team should be doing better. He is not a happy player and is doing the work of 2-3 players.

Wednesday may not be a selling club but with 18 months left and under performing, they would never want to take the risk of not selling in January or in the Summer only for them not to fire next season and him leave on a free at the end of next season. We are probably most attractive at present and January could be the time to strike if Johnson is true in that he believes he's the best midfielder in the league and would love to have him here. Bannan will definitely be aware of Johnson's admiration for him, and our league position and promise and opportunity to be a key player in a promotion challenging side will definitely be an attraction to him, despite what Wednesday fans think. If we fail to go up, or make the playoffs, in the summer we will not be an attractive proposition to this type of player. January is the time to try and turn his head.

If like Bannan has said (was livid when club rejected 6m from Hull in August) he wants to be in the Premier League again and that's his ambition and not money. Realistically if we agreed a fee with Wednesday (10M would do it) there is no reason why he wouldn't take his current wage (rumoured about 25K a week) or a slight add on with a promotion bonus and sign for us.

A signing like Bannan would definitely send out a we mean business call, and might help signing of a prolific striker in January as he's exactly the type of player Strikers look to feed off.

Despite all of that , he didn't break us down .
