On to tonight and PNE have a great relationship with City fans, after we backed them to come up with us from L1 instead of Swindon in the play off final of 2015. Deepdale is a friendly place and their fans are just the same, as evident by the PNE visitors we have here.

Our great relationship with PNE fans goes back much much further than that...

PS: Preston is short for Priest-town as it has the most of them in the country...

Didn't the PNE 'love-in' start with the final game of the 1999/2000 season when they won the League 2 title under Moyes winning 2-0 at our place.

The City fans applause march from the Atyeo to the East End will live long in the memory!

Nah, I think it started during the last game of the 1997/98 season - the one when we finished second in the third tier - we played PNE last game of the season at their place when we could still have pipped Watford to the title, McCarthy scored early doors but we lost - all the PNE fans stayed behind to applaud our guys back onto the pitch as runners up but promoted! Great scenes of solidarity outside Deepdale after the game that day between the two sets of fans....

Preston will do a Burton and park the buss unless we are not up for it. We had two weeks to prepare for the Burton game and looked totally lost. You can hope for a change but will it happen? Everyone seems to be so happy with the current league position. We don't need to appology. We don't need to shy away. COYR!!

I've failed a late fitness test and will be listening to the game on the wireless.

Back four of Lemsip, Beechams, Tunes and Vickes.

Middle of the park likely to include Toddy (he's in hot form), Benylin, Zubes and my free kick specialist Boots (his advantage should reward me with points)

Expected big things from that foreign lad Kleenex and the poacher Handy Andy up front.

Arse. Forgot a keeper.

I know but I like to think of all the City in with the PNE fans at Wembley, giving Swindon a gob full after that "red card", Swindon winning the league in November and the now infamous "Flint said No"...

Enjoyed a pint with PNE fans after the game that day - they were genuinely pleased for us.

Didn't they also come up a short time later?

This is the same as the east. There is the Far East and the Middle East, but do you every hear anyone talking about the near east?

Or as some 'middle eastern' playright opined recently.. "it was the British who first coined the term Middle and Far East. Well it is for them but not for us. Its like me saying i am going to the Middle West, which is the UK, and then on to the Far West which is North America" .

First time using a ticket loaded to my Forever Bristol Teens membership card, just wondering as there is no barcode where I place the card on the turnstile? Is there a reader for membership cards or do I just place it under the scanner as I would the barcode of a ticket? Just don't want to hold anyone up and look like a numpty!

Just wave it under the scanner. The card is chipped.

Anyone give any Preston team news? I know their whole back 4 was out a couple of weeks ago and they were playing CM’s at CB.

hopefully  they're a bit short at the back again tonight, anyone any idea?

After a long list of injuries over recent weeks, the return of captain Tom Clarke to the matchday squad on Friday gave a boost to the dressing room, and with others close to a return, the manager is looking forward to having more options within his squad.

On those returning from injuries, the PNE boss said:

"If we can get a few more bodies back for the game it can certainly help us. It gives us an extra edge, the stronger the squad I've got to pick from, you'd like to think the more quality we've got going into the game."

"Equally, the lads who are playing or have been playing, will know that they've got guys on their coat-tails now who will be pushing them for their place so I think it can only be a positive thing.

Neil was delighted to welcome Clarke back to the squad, on the captain's return he continued: "Tom has been out for such a long time, he's not played any football but the other night we needed someone on the bench who, if called upon, could come on and do a job and we know Tom's leadership skills and the qualities that he has, so he certainly fitted that bill.

"It's important, we want to have all of our influential and experienced players back. I think we've missed that at certain points in the season, we if we can get him, Greg and guys like that back then it certainly makes us stronger."

With Bristol City up next for North End, manager Alex Neil attended their game against Sheffield Wednesday and feels the Robins squad is similar to his own at PNE.

"To be honest it wasn't the best of matches, there weren't a lot of chances in the game, if anything, probably Bristol had the better chances in the match. They are energetic and they've got some good players in their side and we are going to have to play well to go there and win.

"They've spent some cash, they've spent quite a bit of money on the centre forward and they do pay decent wages as well Bristol City. In terms of the make up of the squad, it's not too dissimilar to ours, they've got a lot of younger players, they've got some experience in there as well so it's pretty similar.
