Indeed they have and we handled the negotiations for the gig at Bolton FC. They agreed a 15 night one month tour for £2.5m, based on capacities of stadiums each venue and hoster was charged differing amounts. Bolton have paid £174K for their gig. Which means the total outlay will be around 500k, and capacity will be around 21,500. Flat cost of ticket £24 to break even. Prices should be around £40-£65 but that will be finalised today with all other venues as when you're part of a grouped tour prices have to be the same. It'll be a good earner for Bolton as it's the only venue in the North West north of Manchester. Huddersfield will attract the Yorkshire fans. Lancs fans will go to Bolton.

Guess the markup on a bottle of fizzy pop is greater than a pint of beer as well, so going after the teen market probably open more opportunities to make cash.

Further to the above talk of Little Mix, they've released details today of next summer's tour, all outdoor gigs which include dates at various sporting venues - Swansea, Bolton, Huddersfield and Colchester football grounds, Hull KR rugby ground and Derby, Northampton and Sussex cricket grounds.

PLEASE COME TO ASHTON GATE!!! :fingerscrossed:

Normally stadium concourses don't open for catering except Wembley. As the promoters would sell the catering rights to outside caterers. Hence burger vans and stuff outside. So funds that could be made from catering are non applicable unless the club purchased the catering rights for the gig too.

Cheers, interesting stuff.

Do you know if there was any interest from Bristol Sport at all?

also is the rail link still not in the picture. That really opens it up to the sad new pop stuff which the kids love. But would make a heap of wonga for the club. I mean the council seem inept at getting the Bristol Arena off the ground so why are we not pushing hard to attract bands/acts/other sporting events eg. boxing there has to be a good chance of keeping enough events coming to seriously finance Bristol Sports and then, therefore, our beloved Reds.

Just a thought

January 2016

Quote

Following recent media reports alluding to who would be performing at the official opening of the new Ashton Gate Stadium in 2017, Andrew Billingham, CEO of Bristol Sport, has confirmed that "as an international sporting venue it is natural that we are talking to international artists as Ashton Gate looks to become a leading concert venue in the UK".

Billingham went on to add: "We've been in discussions with recording artist D-Jukes and Sophia May from USUK Promotions and other major music agents, to bring the biggest names in the music industry to the stadium and further promote the city of Bristol."

Recording artist D-Jukes said: "We've been working hard on this project and this could be great for Bristol. We have a strong team behind us and a great working relationship with Andrew Billingham and his team. Furthermore being in the music industry we have solid relationships with the artists themselves whom we are planning to bring to the stadium.

"Although there are big plans for 2017, the press was given information from people not involved in this project. We are sorry that this has happened but extremely excited for the true announcements to be made soon.

Didn`t the Manics play Cardiff`s stadium back in the Summer? They definitely played the Eden Project as I was there. Bjork is playing down there next Summer too - it holds about 10k I think.

Absolute shout for the Manics.

What a band. So underrated but would be immense to see them live.

+1

Saw them live three times; once in 1993 as a four piece then again in 2006 and 2014. Met them two years ago at an album release too - brilliant live and well worth going to see.

Given they have played the Colston in the last couple of years you have to wonder if they could sell out a stadium.

I think the novelty value of the first big gig at the new AG would go a long way. As others have said, they are brilliant live and we would no doubt have a fair few visitors from over the bridge for it too. The tickets for the Eden Project (about 10k I think) sold out in about 24 hours.

Get a couple of decent support acts - something like Jake Bugg -  and job`s a good `un.

How many tickets would actually be available - the stage would presumably be at the Atyeo end as that`s where the vehicle access is so about 18-20k max capacity?
