poland_exile
away at Stoke City in the FA Cup, mid-90s - the winner would draw Everton. The first leg was when they came onto the pitch to try and get into the Grandstand. Up till half-time of the away fixture I was wishing i'd stayed at home. Then something clicked - a small pocket of cidered up city fans in the corner seats started singing away (nine men went to burn rings a bell) and before you could blink the whole away terrace was on-song. by the time the team came back out you could tell something special was in the air. I think it went to extra time with us winning 3-1. Not a huge away following, I imagine about 800 or so, but one of those nights when everyone pulled together. It felt like there were 5,000 of us! Also made it back to Exeter in under 2 hours down the m5 Wow was it really that long ago? Couldn't believe how quiet/soulless the Ricoh was on the day. So it'll have to be the 3-0 at Coventry just after we got promoted in 2007! Was that when we got a late third? I remained seated, as I’d bet the 2-0! Heavily watered the pitch at half time, so much so that there was actual puddles forming iirc. Guessing that was to try stop us playing our football I believe their manager refused to shake Cotterills hand at full time as well. that was a great game, pretty sure they were flying at the time? Bradford away to seal promotion was a good one too, 6-
