We usually do a ‘Best Albums’ thread and I normally discover a few corkers because of it so please share your best of this year!

Mediocre year for Music I would say.

Mine are, in no particular order:

Lotta Sea Lice - Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile

American Dream - LCD Soundsystem

Gang Signs and Prayer - Stormzy

Magic 8 Ball - Aron Attwood

What Do You Think About the Car - Declan McKenna

Apologies, didnt know the music thread was your thing.  Only listened to half your list so with that and many others on here, lots to listen to in the coming weeks

Without wanting to ruin any credibility i might have earned, Harry Styles album is surprisingly good although I haven't worked out if that is due to zero expectations!

DAMN really really impressed me. TPAB was a slice of genius but I didn't really expect much. I'm a hip hop purist in every sense but that has to go down as one of the best hip hop albums in the last decade.

It's OK mate, I'll have forgiven you by this time next year. If you like your pop music then I'd suggest checking out Masseduction. Sexy, sassy and more hooks than B & Q. Fantastic pop album.

Yes, DAMN is really good but To Pimp A Butterfly is breathtaking. Still can't get over those genre-mashing first two songs Wesley's Theory and King Kunta. Genius.  Not in the same league as that but Vincent Staples album is full of bangers and overall a very enjoyable listen.

If you have Spotify I'd also check out the latest Silicon Valley soundtrack. It's a very good comedy on Netflix but they also include some quality hip hop / break beat in the shows - DJ Format, DJ Shadow, Danny Brown etc all feature. It's good fun !

Has Harry Styles ever been anything other than a 'pop' star who makes 'pop' music? ie 3 minute songs with a catchy chorus. Soft rock can still be pop music....

You can have dance music, hip-hop, country and rock music that could all be classed as pop music.
