Why will Rams fans have to pay £45 for an adult ticket? A United spokesman said that it was club policy to retain the same ticket prices for cup games as for Premier League matches and would not charge away fans less than home fans were charged for the equivalent seats. In the Premier League, a cap has been introduced which means away fans are not charged more than £30 for a seat. However, this does not apply to the FA Cup and Derby supporters will be housed in East Stand Tier 2 at Old Trafford, where tickets are priced at £45. This is a different part of the ground to where away fans usually sit for league games, as the cup allocation is larger. FA Cup rules impose a minimum ticket price of £10 for ties at this stage of the competition but there is no upper limit. The prices are set by the home team and away fans can only be charged more than home fans if mutually agreed by both clubs. Derby chairman Mel Morris has offered Rams season tickets holders a discount on tickets for the United game of up to a third. His gesture means that adult season and half-season ticket holders will pay £30 instead of £45. How was Derby's ticket allocation decided? FA Cup rules state that visiting clubs have the right to claim up to 15% of all tickets provided, which at the 75,0000-capacity Old Trafford, is more than 11,000. The away team has to pay for all of the tickets they ask for. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have never heard of the point in the last sentence before??? Very glad we drew them home and not away, they probably would have done the same for a quarter final and we'd only be entitled to 10%

Fair play to the Derby chairman though, that could end up costing the club a fair few quid.
UREDS_91
So Manchester are charging Derby fans £45 for a ticket to watch the game. And they have the cheek to say our prices are too high for our quarter final tie... They really are a joke! The derby chairman is subsidising the cost out of his own pocket to bring the cost down the £30. Fair play to him but it shouldn't need to be done. A few years ago P'boro' were away to Chelsea. They were offered either 2,000 or 5,000 tickets. There was no sale or return provision, so Posh bought just 2,000 as they didn't know if they'd sell all 5,000 if they chose that option. 1; this guarantees income for the big club and 2; reminds lesser teams they are just small fry. cheshire_red
Yes and no. Posh benefitted from the 3k tickets Chelsea sold to their own fans if it was a full house.
