RoystonFoote'snephew
Hard to fathom, and particularly from Steve Gibson. Sack Monk due to style of football and appoint Pulis! They must like 10 men behind the ball at Boro. Strikers for sale?

chinapig
Karanka was a pretty defensive coach so maybe Gibson thinks Pulis can deliver success with his inimitable style. Expect Boro to sign 4 big centre backs when the window opens. They will need somebody to launch long balls towards Gestede.

Rumour I've heard is the press conference Thursday was supposedly postponed on Monk's request for something family related, instead he was talking to Swansea. Gibson found out and was pissed, agreed a deal with Monk, waived compensation for leaving the role. Could explain why Monk is favourite for the Swansea job. Northern Red
It actually wouldn't surprise me if he did well with them and got them up into the playoffs. However, I wouldn't wish having to suffer his brand of 'football' on my worst enemy.

Slack Bladder
Merry Christmas Boro, ha ha ha ha !!! I hated every minute he was at Ashton Gate, even considered handing my season ticket back. Then along came Pompey and 'poached' him, I would've have paid his train fare to get down there too. wendyredredrobin
Pulis was a complete disaster here. Wherever he goes, boring 'park the bus' football goes with him. He may save clubs from relegation playing that way but will never win anything. Boro would have been better off keeping Monk than getting that tosser. Terrible appointment for them. I wonder how their forum is viewing it.

He was bad here, many years ago. Despite that, he's unquestionably done well elsewhere whatever you think of him as a person. What he achieved with Stoke was very impressive and did solid jobs at struggling West Brom and Palace. Boro should really be challenging at the top, will be interesting to see how this goes. I predict he'll do well.

Assassin Reid
The Championship is a lot more difficult now to when Pulis last managed here. His hoofball-hope-to-nick-a-goal defensive philosophy ain't gonna wash these days me thinks. Times have changed.
cheshire_red
They seem more interested in League position than style of football, all they seem interested in is being top dog in the North East regardless of how it comes. Any player over 6'3 has just had their valuation doubled.
