What a full Ashton Gate looks like to an away fan

Recommended Posts

Dolman looks as impressive as the rest of the ground considering it's 50 years old. They did a really good job rejuvenating it.

Can we also note that that is the tempo the claps should be when Mags takes a throw.

Mate who is a Man U fan said to me at work, that the noise generated when we scored was deafening so it must be pretty loud if you are an away fan at AG. He watches Man U a lot.

Just needs that kind of atmosphere every home game at AG because that really is a 12th man on the pitch for us! The St.George down the dolman looked brilliant. Thanks for posting.

When the Atyeo gets redeveloped (which it will at some stage), it really will be a superb ground - which it already is as far as I am concerned. But I still love tthe old ground also. I’m a bit of a sentimental old bugger at times.

The Atyeo is now the weakest part of the ground.  It is also the best place to look at the rest of the ground.

The Dolman and Atyeo stands look strangely small from the top of the West stand top tier.

Video shows it really well.

Nah, it should be ALOT slower than that to start with...our effort is soooo cringey.....

This is how to do it...

Certainly to start with, but getting to around the speed in the video above.

Not starting at twice that speed and essentially being a hospital clap.

I dont think the Hörður song is cringey. It's just a homage to our Icelandic hero, not a direct imitation.

When we do the clap it is cringey because of 2 key aspects

1) It is far, far too fast

2) The claps are all out of sync.

No it's not.

The clapping during the throwins is random. I'll give you that. Hordurs song with the drummer is aces.

I'm lucky enough to have a friend in Clifton with a spare parking space who let's me use it on match days. Spent 30 mins at his to have a coffee and calm down before hitting the road after the Man U game. He doesn't follow football but from his flat he said he could really hear the noise for both our goals and the final whistle celebrations, granted his flat looks straight out over the gorge so there is nothing really in the way to block sound between AG and his balcony - but still impressive and even he mentioned it was a LOT louder than other matches that he has been aware of.

I wonder what the actual decibel level was. I imagine its not something you can do without proper technology so we might never know, but it was ******* deafening.

I'm not going to try and quote a load of different posts but...

We don't need the Icelandic clap thing. It's cringy and the man now has his own chant!

The Icelandic Clap is basically 'We Will Rock You'. Boom, boom , clap. It just starts slower. Get the drummer to do that and we're rolling.

Is that the Maine Road that was demolished in 2004?

Not as impressive as it might seem. But impressive in a different way.

I remember 15 years ago working in hengrove. You could hear city goals being celebrated for most night matches.
