Great player when he was with us but he isn’t the same player now and we can’t afford to be carrying players when we are gunning for promotion. Didn’t he partially blame us for his gambling problems too?

The article you are thinking of was in the Guardian not so long ago and, as I recall it, he wasn't apportioning "blame" at all, just describing the circumstances he found himself living in at City.

Thanks (or not) to a God given talent he found himself at a very young age with too much time and money on his hands - nothing wrong with that, except when your brain is wired to an addictive personality. That way demons lie.

None of it is anyone's "fault".

No way.

Absolute liability these days, goes nowhere near a football pitch and QPR have only held onto him this long because they couldn't afford to pay him off.

The champagne corks are popping amongst QPR fans.

Just JET to get shot of now and the last of the layabouts has gone. It's a credit to the lads who have been playing each week that they have worked so hard knowing these two have been pulling in thousands for doing bugger all.

W*nker bled us dry, coming to a gutter near you soon.

I'm sure he'll turn up at a club in the championship who needs his 'experience'. Cardiff are after three loan signings to see them though, so why not give Caulker £25k a week to warm his backside on the bench!! Perhaps he'll end up laundering a few Russian US Dollars at some outpost

Not sure he blamed us directly but he stated that he was given a flat by Spurs on his own with no guidance/monitoring (by Spurs or us) within walking distance of casino's/bars.

It was when he was City.

Having a predisposition to addictive behaviour putting him up in the centre of town surrounded by bars and casinos simply fed his addictive personality.

His problems would have developed wherever he'd been.

Rather be wrong than whatever you are.

His opinion, on this one, is based on a good amount of professional expertise. So he knows what he's talking about, for once

And anyway, if he was fit as a fiddle in body and, more importantly, in mind why on earth would QPR be releasing him? They wouldn't, so clearly something is still amiss. I wouldn't be surprised if he drops out of football altogether.

I thought he could have been the next Tony Adams from what I saw during his time with us.

I also thought Danny Rose was an utter waste of space during the same spell - spent all his time sat on his arse crying for a free kick.

Funny how things work out - or perhaps I just don’t understand football!!!

Don’t worry, you weren’t alone. I guess I don’t understand either.

Surprised and a bit gutted at how his career has turned out so far. When with us he looked a class act and in my opinion was destined for the very top and a regular England international.

I don't think we need a player like this now, we want players to hit the ground running and not someone that needs help on and off the pitch.

Not too late to sort his head out and get his career back on track, really hope he does.

Good luck Caulks

How many players are you suggesting we sign? It feels like you're wanting about two dozen!

Just anyone linked with any other club, that’s all. And once those players have moved to other clubs, you can be assured that there’ll be loads of posts asking ‘why we didn’t go for them’?

Johnson does seem to be a good man manager off the pitch, perhaps if we could set him up right (counselling etc) then perhaps a 6 month deal to see how he does, if all is okay by the end of the season another 12 month contract to see if he can get back to his old standard. Would be risky though.

Didn’t Caulker have a relationship with someone in Cardiff and they had a child together? Maybe Bristol being closer than London might be a factor if he still has contact with either or both? *

* Not saying we are even considering him mind.

Oh believe me I do!!

Then you'll know that making perfectly reasonable complaints about the PA system in the Dolman is not an addiction.

I will admit to it being a huge frustration given the redevelopment of AG that the sound system is so shockingly poor.

You don't know what addiction actually means do you?

I don't think you do! For someone that has worked in this field and the mental health field for so long you should be an expert. But saying we shouldn't employ someone because of their problems is damn right wrong (and likely illegal) as an expert you should no better than that.

Addiction is in most cases, just a symptom of a deep underlying problem, but being an expert you are you would know that wouldn't you?

The highlighted portion of your post is nonsense as usual. Especially the shit about illegal FFS.

It is very sad that he has an addiction and I hope that he finds a way to overcome his obvious demons, because he was once a very talented footballer.

RR is expressing an opinion and one that I agree with and BCFC are a football club not the Betty Ford clinic.

Judging from this reply you have a typical laymans understanding of the concept of addiction.

Its an immensely complicated and damaging condition which can manifest itself in numerous different forms.

A bit like you on this site Robbo.......I believe that everyone  should get another chance in the right circumstances..If he is good enough and  out of contract then maybe a short term contract to the end of season on a trial like basis. If he is having counselling and responding to it and not disruptive then look at it further if not he is out on his ear especially if Baker is out for a while...Every ones a winner
