Adam Forshaw - Moved to Leeds

Midfielder Adam Forshaw has just signed for Middlesborough in a deal worth 4.5m

Good signing for Leeds, that. I wonder if we were in for him at all? (Although not sure we'd be after another midfielder)

Leeds say they "beat off competition from a number of teams in the division to secure the signing"

They always say that.

To be fair, there was speculation before that Norwich, Cardiff and Sunderland were interested too.

Be interested to know where Sunderland were expecting £4.5m for anyone, they clearly aren’t in a position to pay anything for anyone! They may of been in for him on a loan deal but never a permanent deal.

Similarly, they are supposed to be after Chris Martin (Derby not Coldplay) but only on loan & as Derby have stated that they won’t allow him to go to a promotion rival, Sunderland obviously fill that bit of the criteria as long as Sunderland aren’t expected to pay any loan fee or wages.

Journeyman and wouldn't get in our midfield anyway. Had his day and would prefer Smith, Brownhill, Pack and Walsh over Forshaw any day

How has he ‘had his day’ at 26 years old? Also Leeds will be his 5th club in a 9 year career, that’s hardly a journeyman!

The journeyman tag always winds me up as it's nearly always misquoted when referring to players.

A journeyman has nothing to do with how many clubs a player has been at.

In a sportsman sense, it means that they are competent yet not outstanding.

In American English, a journeyman or journeywoman is an athlete who is technically competent but unable to excel.[1] The term is used elsewhere (such as in British and Australian contexts) to refer to a professional sportsman who plays for a large number of different clubs during their career.[2] In Britain, the term is also used derogatorily, along with mercenary, to refer to players who join various affluent clubs purely in search of higher contractual payouts rather than to further their career; usually clubs which they would likely never join otherwise.
