Never to the dark side
After staying the night in Derby ,I bought the local paper. Nice big report on friday nights match with photos Come back to Bristol and whats in OUR allegedly local paper NO MATCH REPORT You will have to wait 2 and half days for monday morning for that to happen. Same with the Sheffield United game TWO local papers had match reports on the Saturday morning Now taking bets, on how long OUR local paper goes weekly (or its that weakly)? Marina's Rolls Royce
Surely any sensible member of this forum would never actually part with real cash money to buy this paper? Kleenex is so much softer and a more convenient size, Meanwhile, I can't believe what the original cast of Baywatch look like now and I'll never go back to my old razor. Surprised anyone still buys a paper. It's all online. Haven't read a paper for 2 or 3 years. Bless my dad he still tells me all the city news 3 days after I've heard it. Also interesting that printed books seem to have seen off e-readers and are being bought in higher numbers. A printed newspaper offers a different experience, and I hope that both printed and online media will continue to exist happily side by side (except for the Daily Mail, which can disappear from the face of the earth tomorrow). Portland Bill
The local Sunday Indie is the only paper for West Country sport, the only paper I buy,and well worth the £1.20.

Fordy62
Anyone remember when on holiday (in France for me) you had to wait until the papers came out the day after to see the results from Saturday. That was one of the best parts of the holiday. Damn you internet. On the plus side, free internet porn. Thank god for the internet.

A printed newspaper offers a different experience, and I hope that both printed and online media will continue to exist happily side by side (except for the Daily Mail, which can disappear from the face of the earth tomorrow). Rarely buy a newspaper nowadays, can't actually remember the last time, often grab a free Metro (which I think is generally an ok read for nothing) when on a bus... or maybe pick up a Bristol Post (which generally isn't an ok read) if I happen to see one going free in MacDonalds. Most 'news' comes via the internet nowadays with online versions of traditional 'papers' and pay for printed newpapers becoming increasingly endangered, inferior in quality and pricey.. It's a shame but a difficult trend to reverse, I quite like traditional printed news, hate the annoying 'pop ups' that make reading the online versions a pain (if not impossible)... its thanks to me (& millions of others like me) who no longer buy them that the days of the traditional daily newspaper appear to be doomed, with fewer buyers/dwindling readerships obviously quality suffers and prices rise - its sadly looking more and more that for printed newpapers the writing is increasingly more on the wall rather than on the front pages. It's a catch 22 no win for anyone situation. Inevitably I think the free online news 'services' will eventually disappear too, leaving only pay for subscription newspapers available, the hated pop up adverts that pay for them will kill the free ones off. Where do we go from here?

Where do we go from here? I read posts on OTIB for match reaction and analysis ( ole contributor excellent reports ) far more in depth and incisive than the Bristol Post journos . Haven't read anything recently on the BP website which has added to anything on here . Newspaper wise I read the weekend Guardian and Observer hard copies . I think book sales are holding up , even on the increase as the on line reading experience does not seem to be taking over ?

Of if you were really lucky the holiday rep would bring a few of today’s papers from the incoming flight....but it would be the Scottish edition! It was usually cricket season and you wouldn’t even get the close of play score, it would be "latest score", so you were even further behind....and they cost a fortune. The Saturday Boy
To be fair to them, The Bristol Post printed edition on a Friday covers the weekend so there won't be a paper to buy until Monday. So unless they are fortune tellers, Friday morning's paper can't have a report on the Friday night match!
