Wilbraham hadn't scored in over a year before he signed for us... We all know how that ended. Doesn't really make a difference does it?

Chill out pal.. just wanted clarification as somebody at work just said he hasn't scored all season..it dosnt necessarily make a difference  no but on the flip side of that a striker who hasn't hit the net (or hit it once only) i cant imagine being full of confidence.. as i said lets hope he can hit the ground running

Football journo Robin Bairner on Twitter who appears to cover French football says he's better than Diedhou and Kodjia and is a top player.

Pretty reassuring then - his bio says "Freelance football writer. Specialise in France & Scotland. Found on @goal_intl, read in @blzzrd, @WSC_magazine" so he knows his stuff and has a grasp on the level of quality in this league too you'd think

Is this the "one to get excited about" that LJ mentioned then?

Very encouraging stuff.

Yes this is him.

Had he kicked on at St Etienne and done well, I doubt we'd be getting him. Seems Bournemouth and Birmingham (who under Redknapp were going for big targets) both wanted him so he's obviously highly thought of.

I think people will naturally raise their eyebrows at this season's scoring record but even Eden Hazard had a severe goal drought a couple of seasons ago. It happens sometimes and any player can have a bad move.

Up to us to bring the best out of him, should also help improve Famara too.

So he's removed the instagram post and the mention of us in his bio - probably at request of the club so they can control the hype and announce him when they want (they might have to do it now, instead of at the match (as they might have planned)).

Talk of his record this year - well ASSE are currently 5th from bottom - With:

• the 2nd worse goal difference in the league, only two teams have conceded less goals.

• Goals scored - only 4 teams have scored less. They’ve managed only 10 goals in total from all their forwards.

Clearly things haven’t worked out for Diony at St Etienne, but it doesn’t sound like he has had much of a platform to work from.

The thing I like about watching his extensive Dijon highlights (in Ligue 1) is his team play and his tireless motor. The amount of times the ball should have gone out and he hustled and got the ball back in to the six yard box/in one case scored a bizarre goal from a very tight angle. The drive reminded me a bit more of a slightly taller and more physical Bobby than the "classic" centre forwards we've had in Kodjia and Diedhiou.

On the Sky Commentary v Derby Hinchcliffe said Johnson was learning French

Here we go Lois first lesson

"Theese got'un wer thees casn't back'un hasn't"

THEE'S GOT'N WHERE THEE CASSN'T BACK'N, HASSN'T

One fine day on holiday
They took the motor car abroad
With a brand new GB plate they’d head for France
For Flo and Joe were keen to see
The night delights of gay Parie
Snatch an hour up Eiffel Tower
And grab some quick romance
But ‘twas near the Place Pigalle
Got jammed up a back alley
And woke up everybody in Monmarray [Montmartra]
Gendarme said ’Ooh la la, oui oui’
And Joe said ‘Don’t tell I tell ‘ee’
‘They Parasites all hollered out real hartay’

As I said before, that and the lung busting run he made to track back and stop an attack down the right wing will be what Johnson wants from him.

He’s also been used as a lone forward there apparently but far better as part of a pair which he was doing at Dijon.

That's it mate he's very strong and determined and also he's a sportsman. One clip shows him shoving aside 2 tackles in the box that many pathetic diving ******* would have simulated and snivelled to the ref for a pen.
