He gave me three or four ‘rubbish’ reactions in the space of about 5 minutes a few days ago so good to see he’s still amongst us in spirit form or something.

Thatch did? I enjoy it when he's not around so I don't see that comment about me being his 'lover', or whatever it is

Need to find out when his birthday is, I'll certainly get some straighteners sorted for him......like my soon to be 12 year old just asked for

Do you know what Nogbad, I wasn't trying to make a point about opinions. It has nothing to do with LJ ultimately. Pro-LJ/anti-LJ - we've all been right or wrong. It doesn't matter. As you say water under the bridge.

My point was, regardless of which side your bread is buttered on any matter, that certain vociferous critics went too far, got personal, threatening and treated other posters in a way they'd probably never dare to their faces. You've said to me before, and again mention it above, I give as good as I get, I know i've overreacted at times, but I only do it in my defence or to stand up to this kind posting.

I can't give names of people who quit OTIB permanently, but I suspect there were a few, we will never know. One thing I can say though is I know of people who either took a break from the forum or would rather read it as a guest than post, because of posters like these.

It's sad because I don't doubt that as you say, we probably all would get on with our common love and passion for City, but that's easy to forget I guess in the heat of the moment over the internet.

Fair enough Alessandro. Tbh, I have my doubts that anyone actually quit, although as i said the forum was no doubt an unenjoyable ( and probably seemingly hostile) place for many and no doubt some took a voluntary break.

I think we were all under severe stress last season - as a fanbase and on here - and some people react more calmly and are capable of expressing themselves more eloquently than others in that situation. Some posters for instance use language I wouldn't, but is probably the norm for them and they may mean very little by it - we're not all the same.

Sometimes the passion just takes over, and having been on here a long time I can't think of a single long term poster - including memorably several mods. - who haven't ranted or said something very regrettable at one time or another.

You say you yourself can overreact, and so indeed can I, but that is part and parcel of being a passionate regular contributor with strong opinions and there should be no lasting antagonism.

Personally I welcome all opinions even those I disagree with most, and in all my years on here have never put 1 poster on ignore, or reported a single post, despite plenty of opportunity.

No need to get the mods involved imo , a PM to the poster concerned can always sort out very strong disagreements in my experience.

And that was kind of the point I have tried to make on this thread and the one that the mods deemed fit to simply delete - not lock, delete.

We all make mistakes and get things wrong. What’s a shame though is that although the rules are published and available for all to read they’re not consistently applied.

And when they’re then interpreted by hard and over worked volunteers a price then has to be paid.

I was lucky as although I asked perhaps awkward questions that lead to a suspension I was then allowed back in the fold.

I’m guessing that many haven’t - presumably for far worse misdemeanours.

As has been pointed out very few of us know what happens to those who we might have found entertaining or informative in the past but how I long to read a post from the likes of Malone, Faustus, Kew and Bob......

I hear what you're saying but IMO I don't think people should criticise the mods. I imagine keeping this place under control with hundreds of posts every day is a very difficult and time-consuming job. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be here, so thank you. I think most the mods are also great contributors in their own rights too.

I'm all for heated debate, i've said that before. But there is a line, people cross it, they get a ban. And people do cross it.

OTIB isn't nazi-germany. I'm sure the mods are just doing their best, they don't want to ban anyone, but some people bring it on themselves.

Presumably that was the thread referring to 'transparency'.

I wondered where that went - all clear now.

P.S. Honestly, @ExiledAjax, no pun was intended.

From my personal point of view, I can say that there is so much more than goes on that the "normal" user doesn't see

On an average day I can authorise up to 10+ posts, then we get the occasional report to look at. Add that there is a team of us and it shows what goes on

Personally speaking it is only usually SPAM posters that don't get approved, and the majority of reports are easily dealt with - either editing something offensive that has been posted or VERY rarely where someone has reported someone for some offensive content.

I've always messaged the person affected so they are aware of what has been done and why, and know from discussions the mods have we generally all take this approach

With our fan base all around the world we literally have things to respond to 24/7 on here

One thing we would never do is discuss anyone's situation with anyone else

Anyway surely it's time to concentrate all our anger to a certain man coming from West London?

Right what’s @Olé done?

And why why are we angry?

Someone please start a thread on it! Hopefully a newbie so we can make our lazy mods do something

:P

It sure is...

Hope whoever does the music now will do as last season and play the appropriate song just before kickoff.

Words of praise may turn some heads, but some of us much prefer the brown envelope stuffed with cash, sumptuous dinners at someone else’s expense, glamorous escorts - again, provided by a generous benefactor............  not that we’d be easily corruptible of course...... :)

I can't be the only one that thinks reporting of posts or placing people on ignore is a tad sad? It's the internet? Stop taking it so seriously and take it for what it is.

For the record he seemed a decent poster, had his moments but just had a little chuckle at it like I do most things on here.

This is a really good forum tbf, and surprisingly, much more lenient than many others I've been on.

Just yesterday got ******* well banned from another shit teams forum for ******* swearing too ******* much in a ******* post, the ***** ;). Makes you realise we've got a pretty cushty deal with the mods on here.

Fair play all the admins, mods, and anyone else involved in running OTIB.

I'm afraid I got things a little mixed up here so all I've got for you is a brown envelope stuffed with dinner from someone else's escort.

Hope that'll do.

Nope.

Sorry if that’s how you read it.

Alternatively if you don’t like what’s written then frankly why ******* bother to comment?

You’ve added nothing to the discussion.

Wow it's really rubbed off on you hasn't it? I can and will comment, if you wanted a love in for BBSB and started a thread...  that's your  problem, just don't expect everyone to blow smoke up yours and his. Chin up x
