Ashton Interview on RB

Came across very well as always and some interesting stuff said.

Ongoing contract discussions with first team players

No plans for any first teamers to depart in Jan and would take crazy money to change that in the next few days

Spent time in the last couple of weeks networking with execs from Man C, Man U, Arsenal and Spurs

Unlikely any more incomings but wouldn’t rule out completely

One thing I thought was self evident was not to prolong contracts. We have achieved absolutely nothing. We are on the same spot. Same shit happened in disguise after the 2007/08 season. Half a year ago they did no get a severe pay cut so why should there be a difference now?

If a player is attracting interest from bigger clubs and you see them as key to your plans then it forces your hand if you want to keep the player.
