Hampshire Red
This is debate for English clubs over last 20 clubs. You need some justifications to nominate, like the Maytree YouTube along similar lines. Here's my starter six; 1. Coventry City: Decades in top flight, sold urban ground for Ricoh tip out of town, played games at Northampton 2. Orient: a century of league status, recent hopes of playing at Olympic stadium now near base of Conference 3. Blackpool: Stan Matthews, years of good history, ruined by rogue owners and fans didn't turn up to play off final 4.BRFC: EPL winners, light years ahead of rivals at Turf Moor for more than a decade now run by chicken farmers. 5.Pompey: Play on an island, fastest fall from grace due to financial mismanagement, hundreds of miles to most away games but still get good away support. 6. Gas; horrible owners who have done less for their fans than any others of the 92. Overshadowed by illustrious rivals, shocking transfer activities, disgraced a big city by going non-league. Fans considered a joke in all lower divisions. Nothing to save 'em. CoYRs

Up The City!
I'd throw the likes of Bolton, Oldham and Rochdale into the mix aswell. The football clubs are just as depressing as the towns.
kiwicolin
What about Charlton over the last couple of seasons.
Mad Cyril
Agree with Coventry. This is the 50th year since they have finished in the top 5 of any league. Oh the despair.
poland_exile
any team that's had it's historic support hollowed out and replaced with tourists wearing half and half scarves: arsenal come to mind. hell, they've even got a depressing stadium. West Ham, simply for what's happened the last cpl of seasons. Know a cpl of hammers personally, and heard of many more, who've stopped supporting the club entirely. Things have got to be pretty bad if you pull your support. of the lower leagues, notts county have always struck me as a sad side - soulless stadium, over-shadowed by their neighbors, endless struggles on the pitch, etc. wouldn't want to sound patronizing, but fair play to those who plug away following them. Xiled
Cardiff for changing their club colour to red while retaining the nickname 'Bluebirds'. For their fans who deserted them in droves after they dropped out of the Prem. For appointing a manager who's only real tactic is to win football matches by kicking opposition players off the pitch. For taking Lee Tomlin from us for millions of pounds and then leaving him on the bench. Hang on, strike Cardiff off the list, they're alright! Bar BS3
Last 20 years, I’d think that Forest fans must be pretty fed up..! More recently, Leeds..? I wonder if Blackpool fans would happily have never had that season in the Prem, looking back now..! Oh, and Swindon must be up on the list somewhere as well. Major Isewater
Add Sunderland - years of relegation struggles followed by promotion back to the Prem only to struggle again whilst being badly managed. Ground hog day club . I think I have also just described Newcastle. Any club managed by Harry Redknapp , Pulis or Colin .

Mr Roper
I bet though that the real die hard fans of any of these clubs still enjoy going to games and any small success they see on the pitch. I as many of us watched City in the 4th Division ,never got depressed just hopeful for better things ahead .

They were only getting crowds of 3,000! The stadium put them into administration on 3 occasions. Grey Fox
West Brom, the home of boring "effective" no ambition football Gas, what is the point of them? Blackpool, good club, wrecked by ( don't want to be sued) you know who Sunderland, the manuel on how to flick up a club of massive potential Newcastle, the home of delusion in the UK Finally all the other local clubs that served their town and were wrecked by owners who did not have a clue , including , Leyton Orient, Blackburn, Bolton, Hull, Birmingham, Charlton, Portsmouth, Coventry, and even Darlington.
