Legal action against WMP

Funny thing.

In the 1970's they had a serious crime squad...fairly sure it was shut down for corruption etc.

Tells its own story.

This is a very old story but...

Another funny thing.

Mr Storr had a career in WMP. Which police force have we had  most issues with as a club/fanbase most consistently down the years??

Couldn't make it up tbh.

The WMP attitude to soccer fans is simply unacceptable. Historically they've been shockingly OTT in the way they deal with fans, particularly away fans.

The dreadful attitude must come from the senior officiers and the WMP Chief Constable Dave Thompson has his work cut out to improve their reputation

Thankfully A&S Police don't have the same appalling attitude to football fans.

It’s great to see people challenging these people ( police )who are supposed to be serving us as a community, to be herded or cattle’s by police IS illegal and can be challenged so I hope these fans win there case and let this be the start of challenges

there are people out there -

Most recently, we've assisted Bristol City fans who are preparing a case against West Midlands Police and their use of new dispersal powers within the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act (2014).

Heard this was in the pipeline. Really glad the 10 are pushing ahead with the court case. Best of luck to all of them.

Hopefully justice will prevail and this will stand as a benchmark case on Police abuse of powers against football supporters!

The most ironic thing about this was that the group of 50 fans who were turned home had previously been drinking in a pub with zero problems, and in fact had been enjoying the company of a number of Birmingham fans with whom acquaintance had been made on a recent England away trip to Slovenia.

The police turned a group away for apparent ‘hooliganism’ when they’d actually been enjoying a peaceful drink with the opposition fans.

You couldn’t make it up. Well, you could if you are a rancid and corrupt organisation like the WMP.

WMP also said, that there was an escort at a said time from the pub. WMP then came back into the pub saying, we feel there is no need for an escort, escort cancelled.

That said group of fans, then left the pub at the time the police were going to have an escort.

Tuck up springs to mind, and i was one of then. Not personally one of the 10 taking them to court, as i feel with how the police are at football you are just making a target for them in future.

If I remember rightly, the map given to people who were dispersed, was so comical, I'm sure the WMP won't want this anywhere near court where it might be published.

On the subject of heavy handed policing, I've only been away from Bristol for a few years but it sounds like A&S police are now tasering the public at every opportunity?

When I came out the Dolman after Man City home game, they (A&S) were in 4 lines across the road sabre rattling just looking for an “off”. Talk about intimidatory policing.

There was absolutely no sign of trouble, pre, during or post match.

Infact AG is a pretty peaceful place nowadays, so why the “big I am” approach from these plebs?

Even video evidence (Millwall fan incident is on YouTube) ain’t enough to get action against them apparently.

Thought exactly the same. Never seen riot vans lined up there before. Way over the top

It's suspicious to the extreme.

Thought exactly that after the Man City game, looking for any excuse to charge in and make a few arrests, be the hero. Fundamentally broken organisation, WMP is case in point.

How often do the police use CCTV to secure a conviction ? They often stand and film at football, if they obtain video evidence of trouble between rival fans or even a fight in the city centre on a weekend etc they will use that evidence to prosecute, even if there isn’t a complaint made to the police by the victim or people involved. It’s double standards.

I have no complaints with them and we have had issues. They have always been more than correct and very friendly.

I trust far more officers are like them than the odd nuts you met up with.

what time does happy hour start in Sweden tom?
