I think the beaten up steward and pyro in the concourse have given both Cardiff and the Heddlu grounds to give us less . Our own fans have let us down

I have never heard of an away team at any ground having their allocation reduced for letting off pyro.

If we beat them this time, Warnock said he is asking the Bluebirds to purchase Rovers' away 'tent' so he can cut our allocation even further.

Wally would probably accept a cut price £13 for it. Before it blows away for nothing, in a few months time..!

The steward was quite badly injured

Says enough when you look their punishment though, second banning order and its only a 5 year ban and fines in costs, after assaulting a steward and being a second ban I'd have thought it be a lot more severe than just a 5 year ban.

Just a potential suggestion to those going by train, if they're expecting a lot of City fans to get the replacement bus service and potentially waiting for those to get in, perhaps take the regular bus from Newport to Cardiff, takes around an hour and costs a quid or two but you can then get off anywhere hopefully without hassle.

They sold out mega quick, me and the misses have got one sorted but I've never been to Baadiff before. Should be an experience from what I've heard.

Not any more..!

Ninian Park was an experience..!

The CC stadium offers a polite welcome from stewards calling you “Sir”, a fairly sterile “safe” environment within the ground, surrounded by Malaysian flags.

Nothing like Cardiff of old, which isn’t entirely bad, especially if you are taking the Mrs.

Odd that this sold out yesterday but still no mention of it on the official website?

Theyre normally quick off the draw to let everyone when all the tickets have been sold?

My guess is before they make any confirmation, the club are trying their best for more tickets. Probably don’t want to scare off sales if there’s a chance of more being delivered to us!

Just throwing this out there, but I can't believe this is the only steward to be injured at a football match in the past season or two, I wonder how many other clubs had their allocation cut as a result?

Injured maybe, but put in hospital? I'd wager not many.

I wouldn't put it past the Heddlu to be meeting the trains and physically putting fans on the coaches. They won't want City fans possibly lingering in Newport town centre really.

If colours aren't on display it'll be hard for them to know whose a fan, should be easy enough to get past them at the station.

Ive been stopped by a policeman when trying to leave a station at an away game before, as it happened I lived locally to the station and grabbed the bus from the ground to the station so I didn't have to walk, but just had to say which street I lived on and was let out.

Which in itself is illegal

Brilliant. If we're in the same division next season I fully expect to be asked to orbit the earth several times before collecting a dedicated police escort from the lost city of Atlantis in order to attend a fixture at Cardiff bloody city. Whether it's the police or the prevailing transport situation of the day, it really beggars belief how hard it is to support the team at Cardiff, when their fans for a few years now have enjoyed freedom of movement and direct travel to our fair city.

Last season, the Severn Tunnel was out, I don't think there were even replacement buses. For the first and only time in my life I had to use CATS. My train from London broke down so it took well over 4 hours to get to Bristol. Then CATS failed to predict rush hour on a Friday after work (imagine the surprise) so it took nearly 3 hours to get to the stadium (including the obviously deliberate slow escort in order to pull the "you better go straight in" routine from the police).

Although by no means suggesting everyone had the same ordeal, after 7 and a half hours and no alcohol, pokey concourse, chucked in the usual corner (at some point we need to understand no one else at this level rolls out an entire end for away fans) we lost, were ferried back out by coach while Cardiff shouted abuse. Yet because one of our "fans" has done something stupid at half-time in their miserable sodding concourse, we ALL get even more hassle this time round.

I stupidly thought this inequality in the travel and ticketing arrangements of the past few years and general persecution of football supporters was the sort of thing even Cardiff fans might sympathise with and be a bit embarrassed about (if the boot was on the other foot and all that). But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to read they're more pre-occupied talking tough about the prospect of a few City buying tickets in the home end, rather than actually speaking up about this obvious stitch up.

I know it's easy to say, but with the experience of going away, I'm convinced that if it was the other way round, I'd far sooner be challenging our own club about treatment of travelling football supporters - regardless if it was Cardiff - than I would be standing silently by and lapping up the advantages that come our way. At the VERY VERY least, EVERY supporter should expect fair and reciprocal treatment, @ChippenhamRed nailed it: why did both clubs wait until now to miss that opportunity.

This isn't even an option as the earliest train on the day is 9:57am. The week before (also train works) the earliest train is at 8:15am, and the week after (also with train works) the earliest train is 8:57am. Another incredible lucky magical "coincidence" for the heddlu that early trains have vanished the day we play there.

Replacement bus is expected to get into Cardiff at 11:20am, and it's then a 25 minute walk to the ground. So using that other bus isn't even an option.

Best option is probably a taxi from Newport to Cardiff. Around £30 which shared across a group isn't bad at all.

It's this bit that I think pees me off the most. It's a joke. We need to get with the programme on this kind of stuff as a club and as a city. Start standing up for our own a bit more. It may be tit for tat but bugger it - if you can't beat them join them.

If the perpetrator was not caught and was at large, maybe, but they were and they were brought to justice. Last season gives them close to zero ammunition in my opinion.

Even less ammunition when you consider that this was a second time offender. He shouldn't have been there anyway, whilst the law abiding fans - majority - didn't cause those incidents. It shows that a large crowd is not the problem, it is the individuals within. Restricting the attendance is meaningless, it's a cover for the Police's and Club's ineptitude for preventing entry to banned individuals.

What is extraordinarily inept is the police knowing away fans have tickets in the home end yet persisting with the policy.

The Male who assaulted the  steward was not banned at the time of the offence.

he had a previous conviction for football related disorder and had recently prior to the assault completed a 3 yr football ban .

Interesting read regarding the process of the ticket allocation.

http://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=192960

29 arrests last season according to this - that seems high, can anyone verify that figure? @JulieH?

I don’t agree with the restrictions for this fixture, which punishes innocent fans who just want to watch a game of football, but let’s be frank here - if some of our “fans” did indeed behave as suggested then we should also be pointing the finger at these neanderthals who deserve a share of the blame.

In which case I unreservedly apologise for the accusation of failure to prevent his entry ...

Stand by the rest tho, Jules :)
