They are a bigger club so it would be a step up

Helmet on!

Bigger club without doubt but what sane manager will go to a club where it’s clear that the first spell of bad form will result in the axe? Mental club.

They must be doing massive damage to their managerial pulling power, then again managers probably love getting sacked and getting a big pay off.

You've answered your own question. Sounds like Steve McLaren is only months away from a big payout, lucky guy.

Someone looking for a 4 year contract at £1m per year who knows that he is likely to be paid off within 12 months.

No idea if we were but if so then more fools us

Guess that's the point of a 12 month rolling agreement. From the point 0f termination, there is still a 12 month liabiliy paid on a monthly basis.

Would imagine that with 3 or 4 year contracts break clauses are inserted so than if someone is sacked within the first 12 months they might get a 12 month settlement, and then adjusted depending of the remaining length of time left on it.

Would imagine it's rare that the term of a contract is paid in full, unless the manager in question is likely to be in high demand and is able to dictate terms rather than being party to a two way negotiation.

Was about to post exactly the same. It's become one of those clubs where unless you get instant results, you're not far from getting your P45.

Personally if I was a manager and Leeds came calling, I'd insist on at least a 5 year contract, just to make sure the club were safe from me being poached when we started winning trophies.....

Least you'd be pretty well off for a few years regardless of how you did!!

I think LJ has a point to prove here. Heavily criticised both as a player and last season as a manager.

He will want to bury his ghost, get one over his dad and be the first manager to take us into the Prem since the Legendary Alan Dicks did all those years ago.

And surely repay the faith SL showed in him during the bad days
