Invading the pitch / Warnock (Merged)

Wigans terrific win last against Man Citeh  was sadly overshadowed by the Wigan fans invading the pitch which led to a confrontation between  Aguero and a couple of fans. Reminded me of the ugly scenes at AG all those years ago against the Gas.

Wigan will undoubtedly face a serious fine for failing to control their fans

I really hope that those at AG  who see invading the pitch as a good craic understand why our club take such s dim view of such irresponsible behaviour.

Still think that was embarrassing. First round of the JPT wasn't it? As for last night no different from ours against Man United sadly you will always get a few idiots but mostly was good natured.

I think he is referring to the league game, live on Sky.  The one the media hyped up as the Battle of Bristol and were sadly proved correct.

I really dislike it when our fans run on the pitch. You don't see the top clubs doing it. It's so lower league. Ruins it for other fans who want to clap the players. Its like singing a song about 17 years around the Gas. Who cares. We shouldn't even give them the light of day. Unfortunately there is a small club mentality around that sort of thing. I couldn't name you one Rovers player or their last result. Really don't care.

I personally think that the day a league One club beating the best team in the land, and a success starved championship team beating the mighty Manchester United in a cup quarter final, doesn’t create enough excitement for such scenes, would be a sad day for football.

I love to see a good, celebratory (good natured) pitch invasion. Some of the best scenes at Ashton gate in my time have been the pitch celebrations V Walsall, Rotherham, Palace, Manchester.

Oh bore off you miserable old git

Scenes like last night make the FA cup what it is. Ok - no place for altercations between fans and players, but if we're going to make football so sterile that you can't celebrate on the pitch ONCE after a HUGE cup upset then you may as well shut the ground and play every game behind closed doors.

In the process of winning just about everything in the 90s, Manchester united still found time to sing disparaging songs about Manchester City..... Even when the blue half of Manchester were struggling two divisons lower in what is now league one. Hell they even had a banner counting up the years since Manchester City had last won a trophy. I wouldnt call Manchester united a small club.

I think the best way to tackle this issue is with a song which we could sing around the 80th min mark onwards reminding the rest of AG why it is not good craic.

Get on the old piano and work some magic Robbo.

Warnock condemned the pitch invasion but sympathised with Aguero, having endured a similar experience when his then Crystal Palace side lost a Championship play-off semi-final against Bristol City at Ashton Gate in 2008.

Speaking about his experience at Ashton Gate, Warnock added: "They were spitting at me, punching me, flashing elbows at me and calling me all names I couldn't repeat and it was the most difficult five minutes to get off the pitch I've ever had. It was frightening.

"Unless you've been in that situation I don't think you can understand where Aguero is coming from because it is frightening, you fear for your safety and then you lash out.

"I had two stewards and they were worse than me, I think I was protecting them. It was the most frightening experience I ever had."

Not really sure why he's commenting on what happened yesterday in the first place but it did make me laugh that he's managed to squeeze in a dig at us in between :laughcont:

Not really, but well done for getting that little dig in.

We'll be able to change that to 18 years in October :clapping:

Trampy is the one with the beard, the goalie is a porn star and Ellis Harrison is a City fan, that's the only 3 I know.

They lost 1-0 to a last minute Wimbledon goal, how could you have missed that?

This is a two club city, if you don't really care you don't really understand what 6323 means.

So are you saying it's ok for a League one or two team but not a Championship team?

It's not just lower league clubs though, Man City fans did it when they won the title.

I don't see what peoples problem is with others doing it.

Couldn't believe it when you had people booing those on the pitch after we won the title. Miserable *****

Thought this tweet was class after the Man U game.

The problem is the idiots that go onto the pitch and head straight for the opposition fans or like last night the players.

Expect I'll get torn to shreds for this, but so what?

If they attack them, and I don't see why they would, then yeah it's a danger to players, but it seems extremely unlikely. Also see little wrong with going over to the away fans if I'm honest, if you can't hack teenagers running over and giving you the finger then there are Opera houses all over the country that would be glad of your custom.

Even then, the people interested in doing that must represent a tiny percentage of fans.

Oh I agree it is usually a braindead minority as most actually want to celebrate, Aguero said he was spat at last night that is unacceptable and if true should be a life ban.
