Come on Villa...

Could be either result only thing I don't expect is a hammering from Villa ( so thats 4-0 then :) ) as we have only lost 2 games all season by more than one goal ( Villa being one of them 0-2 )  other than our 4 defeats on the spin when we had 7/8 players out injured and 2 suspended we have lost 2 of the other 25 games - we are the draw specialists but are also better away than at home , great ground Villa Park and Im heading in hope more than expectation but we could scrape a point

Rather a draw tbh. 2nd place is absolutely achievable and it’s sad to hear people talk like it’s all over when it’s only February.

The irony being if it was April and we were only a handful of points from 6th we’d be excited about the real possibility of making the playoffs.

Your club never ceases to amaze me Mortis .

You quietly go about your business, on a shoestring budget , giving all the big boys a lesson .

You should be renamed

Pragmatic North End .

I agree 2nd is still achievable, but still would rather Villa win this because it's less probable we will finish 2nd.

For me, much better to cement our place in the top 6 and hope Villa slip up in their other games - Wolves, and v relegation threatened sides. The play off chasing pack I hope lose every game they play and draw amongst themselves.

Trouble with that is a fair few of those games will be against other sides gunning for 2nd. So I’m rooting for as few points as possible won between anyone competing for 6th or higher!

In a perfect world we could be closer to 2nd than 7th come 10pm on Weds - so I hope we’re very much looking ahead to 2nd rather than behind to 7th.

Thanks for the kind comments , you saw the worst of us this season at Ashton Gate IMO and I was the first to admit it as we just needed a result , I love this league as its got some really well supported clubs in it and then a few that are on a shoestring in terms of wages us being I believe the third lowest budget in the division but able to compete with the likes of Wolves and Villa ( hopefully ) in back to back games two clubs that have spent over £100 Million on there squads proving that team spirit , togetherness and picking some gems up for next to nothing and a good manager can get you so far , win / lose or draw tonight I will leave Villa Park knowing the lads will have given it there all - no more can be asked for IMO

In regards to yourselves you really are a very good side to watch , just my opinion but a mental toughness / game management at times and your key players back and you are very very hard to beat as the cup run / league position suggests , I think if you dont make it this season both of us will be close again next year , mainly because the clubs have a long term plan , don't fire managers after bad runs and are building brick by brick

All the best

I think we’ve only lost 2 league games by more than 1 goal.

One of them was a 5-0 hammering at Villa, although there were unusual circumstances around that “blip”

Not at all sure we are top two material. In fact I am sure we are not. Come on Villa. Not negative, realistic. Need to keep ahead of PNE

I’ll bet Huddersfield didn’t think they were top six material, or Leicester ‘champions of England’ material.

I said top 2 btw

Yeah I’m just pointing out that you shouldn’t automatically think something can’t be achieved just because it’s not the most likely outcome.

To be talking about settling for 6th and not looking to get 2nd place when you’re 8 points behind and have 42 to play for is madness to me.

2nd should be the aim until it’s mathematically impossible, then 3rd, and so on.

Kind of reverse to when you’re a struggler and your first target is safety, then you think about mid table, then a playoff push...

Get what you are saying. Personally I think we have no chance of finishing 2nd and will struggle to hold teams off for 6th place. Could easily go down to Sheff United on the final day.

But that negative attitude is only a symptom of a few weeks of poor form compared to the rest of the season. An hour gone against Wolves and we were talking about gunning for them in 1st!

I’ve seen enough from this team to know we are good enough to finish 2nd. Will it happen? Odds are against it but it’s a long, long way from being over. We’re talking about 2 weeks of favourable results putting us in touching distance of 2nd. We’re not 20 points behind with 8 games left.

Recent results make it hard to see where we will make up the ground but I can’t believe people still talk like the Championship is decided this early. It’s got to be one of the most unpredictable and competitive leagues in the world!

Right now I would take having to beat Sheffield Utd in the last game to get sixth...

Teams below us can really put some pressure on us. Easy(ish) looking games For Sheff U, Boro and Brentford.

I hope they themselves and their fans think easy(ish) too, could be their undoing.

The other week (after we lost to Bolton) when virtually all the teams at the top won, is a rare event.  I’m hoping some of them slip up tonight.

Villa have had a good run, met clubs in the lower or middle of the table. They went to Fulham 0-2. Albert and someone more missing the game tonight. Would prefer a draw or Preston win. Think we can catch up Villa.

What you drinking, please share !!

He he, no alcohol only coffe and juice. All swedes dont drink vodka seven days a week. This leauge are hard to predict, Villa is a good team, Preston to. Preston played 1-1 vs Wolves with 10 men for a long while. Dont think its impossible to be a draw in that game. Villa have had a good run it can turn quick in football, look at Leeds. Have not made a bet today by the way. Villa fav but its still 11-11. We will se, mainthing we win tomorrow.
