But Leeds Norwich and Ipswich played Sunday and Wednesday but are capable of playing Saturday. Only us and Cardiff play Sunday.

Because both clubs agreed. Perhaps the opposition of the clubs you mentioned didn’t.

I don’t really see why it would make much difference to the police anyway. Earlier kick off times are sometimes implemented to reduce pre-game drinking, which makes some sense. But changing the day is largely inconsequential. I don’t think your average football hooligan declines a fight because they need they’ve got an important meeting at work on Monday.

Strangely, I can’t find any announcement that Sunday’s game ISN’T pay on the day. I would assume it not to be under the circumstances, but I would also expect it to have been announced.

I also note that the statement on the OS today urged supporters without tickets not to travel, but stopped short of saying tickets wouldn’t be available on the day...

Cardiff stating that it's POTD for home fans......hmmm, wonder how many BCFC fans will be in the home sections.:fear:

Because Cardiff fans have never caused trouble here

Not on the level City did a few years back. Wetherspoons getting trashed, toilets destroyed, non-stop agro/fighting all the way in the escort, missiles being thrown, vandalism and at one point, City fans trying to turn parked cars and vans over.

Based on this, I'd say no, Cardiff visiting us have not been as bad in recent years.

If that is the case then it sounds like we’ve not exactly covered ourselves in glory.

However, this was a relative handful of morons - I’m not sure how going from 2500 to 1500 tickets will make any difference. If 30 ******* want to cause aggro, they will.

It still seems decidedly underhand from Cardiff to not have this issue communicated on and finalised long before it was.

And also...a few years back? We’ve been at the same level as Cardiff for three seasons now - why this season? Oh, because we’re competing with them.

Smacks suspiciously of an engineered wind up.

I don't get the 'number of arrests' argument as justification for this.

If those arrests resulted in conviction then yes, it would be a valid metric to make a decision against.

But if the police were briefed by their commanding officers to 'Nick anyone, the moment they step out of line' then the number of arrests made is hardly relevant.

I don't know about the 29 arrests last year, but iirc, every single one of the 35 on the previous occasion were not only charged, but also convicted, and every one of them then also received a lengthy ban.

This is an extraordinary and afaik unprecedented ratio of arrests to convictions, certainly at any football match I've ever heard of. That each and every conviction for whatever offence then also led to a lengthy ban being imposed is also unheard of in my experience.

I wouldn't dream of going to follow City at Cardiff these days - there's just far too high a chance of being arrested and banned.

Morning.

A cut and paste for you:

Bristol City ticket allocation the facts!

There is a lot of speculation on social media regarding Bristol City allocation, below is a timeline of events that led to the reduced allocation and Sunday 12 o clock kick off;

Bristol City communicated with  Cardiff City regarding allocation and kick off time;

Police wanted some kind of restriction on the fixture after some Bristol City fans caused disorder during the past two seasons with 35 arrests 2 years ago vandalising a bar that had been allocated to them, causing criminal damage during the escort and clashing with the police.

There were a further 29 arrests last season after clashes with stewards and police under the stands leading to a steward being kicked unconscious.

Cardiff City managed to agree with South wales police an allocation of 2460 tickets with a 3 o clock kick off for Bristol City, providing their fans went to a soft ticket exchange. Bristol City refused the restriction and wanted their supporters to be able to travel without travel restrictions.

Cardiff City FC went back to the police, and South wales police agreed no restrictions, if the kick off was brought forward to 12 o clock and ticket restrictions imposed with a reduction of 1000 tickets to 1460.

The reason for the game to be moved to Sunday midday kick off was agreed by the managers of both clubs; 18th February Norwich play Ipswich for the tractor derby leading to our fixture with Ipswich scheduled for 20th being moved to 21st. Bristol City also play Leeds with 16.30 kick off on the 18th and have rearranged their Fixture scheduled for the 20th to the 21st February against Fulham. Both managers wanted the extra day off and requested a date change.

Hope this clears up the speculation.'

There was not 29 arrest last year! There was no trouble at all.

Yes that pub got trashed but whole day was terribly policed. Forcing fans to go into the pub of the police's choosing which was not big enough for the amount of people in there, not selling drinks and refusing to let people leave voluntarily is a recipe for the scenes we saw that day. So much for unrestricted travel.

The escort through the ghetto which is Grangetown was vile, having coins thrown at us out of windows, police frothing at the mouth shoving and hitting anyone they pleased. Children crying, people scared. I'm surprised people ever want to go back through that again ******* sh*t tip.

Exactly this! I was writing something very similar before I saw your post come up. Quite how they thought imprisoning that many fans into one pub would go down well I do not know. I wanted some fresh air at one point (we'd been in there for breakfast early doors) and apparently I wasn't even entitled to that whilst we had to wait a lifetime for the escort to show up.

During the escort, literally every turning/alleyway had a collection of Cardiff fans ready to welcome us. There were as many, if not more of their fans playing up outside the escort as there were our fans within it that's for sure.

It was a mess all round.

Cant believe people are going over this again, the whole day was a stitch up and a farce, simple as that.

Tbh, we don't know about Fred Smith.

That poster could have sources close to Cardiff, or their SAG...or could be a righteous ordinary fan justifying the piss-poor allocation on here. It's possible in theory they have sources, so we shouldn't dismiss it out of hand.

Asking SAG would be an idea, but I have a suspicion they would reject it hiding behind grounds of public safety (the irony)! like ours.

As a little aside, could do a just for fun sweepstake...no money necessarily, how many City fans will be in home areas Sunday because of this idiotic decision?

I asked him to clarify who he was and name his sources. He did neither.

There have been a few of these Taffs on here of late.

Boring, isn’t it?

Can’t remember them being quite so chippy when their gates were sub 5000 and when they changed their colours in order to take Tan’s cash.

Ignore them, Third World losers.

Agree 100%, I’ve not been back there since THAT Scott Murray match.

Amazing as the win was, spending much of the game avoiding coins and plastic bottles being thrown at me (then as the Panorama filming showed, their stewards giving them back to be thrown at us again), followed by half bricks being hurled as I left from behind the pathetic Heddlu “cordon”, to be topped off by having to fight off some meathead (who got through) simply to get back into my car, is not my idea of a day out as I now approach my mid fifties.

**** Cardiff, **** Warnock, **** the Heddlu, **** the Welsh, I’ll never have anything whatsoever to do with that place again.

Some parts are lucky to be seen as that advanced.

Where I was living a few years ago was barely 10 miles from Cardiff and the town would have been totally abandoned if there wasn't a university there.

Wouldnt it be lovely to get them in the playoffs and give them only 500 seats in the top corner of the Lansdown!

IF we play them again, as mentioned earlier, give them less than the same % they're giving us, as we gave them loads for the league game, and surround them with our supporters. Home fans on all 4 sides of the ground and them stuck in a corner of the Atyeo.

Horrid club, horrid supporters, horrid, cheap ground.

Don't forget that we did get the two options, so let's do the same for them:

  • 10 tickets with no restrictions
  • 1000 tickets and a soft-ticket exchange on Steep Holm island in the Bristol Channel

Would proper boil piss if we gave them 800 then left the rest of the Atyeo empty mind :laughcont:

Can't say they don't deserve it. Boring taff *****.

1 - yes, we know that. The game being moved to the Sunday made sense for both teams.

2 - Why should we have restrictions when your fans didn’t in the corresponding fixture.?

Do you really think that it’s acceptable and in the interests of fair play, that we have such a low allocation for this local derby.? Afterall, anyone convicted (rightly so) of serious disorder at previous games will currently be subject to a banning order anyway. So effectively, it’s just punishing those that did NOT commit an offence worthy of conviction!

It's the way it works and has affected Cardiff City fans many times over the last 10 years. Better behaviour over time has meant that the bubble trips, ticket exchanges , reduced tickets etc have largely been removed.

You have a restriction on numbers on this occasion as a direct result of what your fans have been up to on the last two or so visits. Your club know this. This is down to the SWP and is not at the call of Cardiff City FC who are going to lose out of ticket and other revenue.

Such victims aren't you?

Bought in to the Warnock mentality nicely.
