Renewed or not renewed. Please post here

Hi all,

I know there’s a thread already, but I thought I’d start one so we can gauge how many people on here have renewed so far, or haven’t renewed based on the current pricing.

If you could also post (if you don’t mind) saying if you are or aren’t affected by the pricing announced at this stage.

For example, I would be

“Not renewed and not affected by pricing”

Hope that makes sense.

I (and my U19 son) are joint ST holders (football and rugby). Last season we had all prices announced at the same time and I could spread payments for both tickets together.

I can't make a decision at the moment. My City tkts have gone up c£100. Spreading the payment is £25.

I emailed the club and got a frankly insulting chain email response that spoke of a loyalty programme that rewarded loyalty and that 'imagined' that being a joint ST ticket holder would mark me out as really loyal. The email also said that Bristol Rugby ticket prices are not on any horizon.

So - I am expected to make a decision to renew tickets without enough info to do so. I have lost the Dual ST discount. I have lost the ability to spread payments across one charge (so will have to pay £50 in financing charges) and I would expect (guess) that Bristol Rugby will increase prices in a similar manner to Bristol City.

I estimate my cost of attending will have gone up about 25-30% from this year - possibly more given the small discount we dual ST holders got for giving the club so much money.

Like many others we have other things to do with our time. My son is moving into adult rugby, so will miss many saturday games. I planned/wanted to renew for those games he could make and on the off chance he would miss  a few matches in a year. Given the lack of information I am not sure I can justify it.

I have asked for clarification from the club of (a) when the Bristol Rugby ST will be announced and (2) what the loyalty scheme will be. I only hope it is not vouchers no one can use again!

It's strange, I'm not sure I would renew regardless of what's gone on in terms of price.

I don't like that I feel this way, but I'm finding myself becoming more and more detached from the game. I feel disillusioned by it all, the money, the corporate side to it, the commercialised nature of the game, the cheating, SKY, wages etc etc. I could go on. It's just difficult to relate to anymore as a regular punter. Although football has been such a big part of my life to date, I can feel myself moving away from it.

It's sad but I get the impression a lot of folk feel the same.

Still had 2 weeks. Why the rush? Can't lose them in this period.

I wrongly thought the deadline was the 18th. I'm quite forgetful and don't want to risk losing my seat if I forget about the deadline.

Not renewed as of yet. Price jump has stalled it for me. Trying to decide if I should try and move, not renew at all or just take it. The last option really makes my gut twist though. 185 quid more for my 3 tickets so almost 20 quid more a month. My u12 doubled but concede it is still great value but the drastic nature of the rise is not on. Not to mention my adult(2 of them)ticket going up 16% while some are 0-4%.

You wanna give non-league football a crack. Good being able to watch proper football, no cheating (most of the time!), you can stand, no stewards staring at you and drinking in a community clubhouse.

I haven't renewed yet and will certainly wait until the last couple of days before I do. Affected by the 15%+ increase in Dolman centre - and of course by the ludicrously early deadline to keep our seats.

Personally I'd be quite happy to give it a miss and spend a season or two going to grounds I've not been to - I've got about 30 left of the 92 - and following City from afar for the most part. But the three guys I sit with all want to renew, so I'll almost certainly do the same.

But I won't be giving any more money to City between now and the end of the season unless we happen to get into the playoffs. Will see how I feel about that next season, but I can easily get into the habit of doing all my eating and drinking before and after the game away from the ground.

Haven't renewed yet. Will probably get around to it next week. I think I'll stop buying things in the concourse as my form of protest. The only real change for me in the South Stand is that my daughter's ticket will double in price to £99 because she is now over 12. The steep rises for fans in other parts of the ground are completely wrong.

I'm not impressed with how the club has handled this. Why such a short and early window to renew? It's only March. Why no clear on info for a joint football/rugby ticket? Why put tickets on sale without announcing what this loyalty scheme is? Not good.

I'll answer a few of these.

Why such a short and early window to renew? So the club can charge higher prices based on the potential of PL football next season - they think they can cash in on the hype. Thankfully the team has almost put an end to that particular carrot as of a couple of weeks ago.

Why no clear on info for a joint football/rugby ticket? This one I'm not actually sure about. Maybe has something to do with the loyalty (hopefully).

Why put tickets on sale without announcing what this loyalty scheme is? Because they needed a backup plan in case their proposals went down like a lead balloon. The elusive loyalty scheme will almost certainly be away to suck more money out of your wallet.

You or anyone else has no reason, in that instance, to do anything other than renew forbespm. A fair few are cheesed off about treatment, prices and timings but won't think any worse of you for renewing, why should they?

I was going to renew but held off until hearing what happened at the meeting, I may not bother at all now but we'll see.

Feeling a bit guilty now but I didn't even check prices anywhere else and was unaware of any meetings.hope it all gets sorted for everyone

Renewed, but at £1 short of £500, I do wonder where it’s going to be in Ten Years time? But we all thought the cost of transfers would bottom out, and yet clubs are spending a hundred million plus, so I guess one day we’ll be spending a thousand pounds on our season tickets, or then again Not!

Out of interest, why were South Stand tickets not increased in price..?

I’m sure people would be far more comfortable with a blanket percentage increase across all seats, than some rising sharply whilst others aren’t at all.

Why not just 10% (for example) on every ticket, rather that hitting some fans and not others..?

In previous years, it has been requested that part of the ground remained cheaper, perhaps this was the aim here.

It would have been fairer. But I think it is more down to "spin". Bristol Sport can still advertise "Season Ticket prices have been frozen at last years prices". Then  in small print "in some areas"...
