How long have we been in the CHAMPIONSHIP?

Everybody has an opinion about whether we have done extremely well getting to where we are at the moment,

or done poorly being where we are now from where we were on 1st january, but consider how long some of

our rivals have been in the championship, and bear in mind sometimes the best things in life take time to

acheive.

Birmingham  -  went in to the top division in 2008, came straight back down, and have been in this division 7 years.

Cardiff  -  have been in championship for 3 yrs now but their previous spell lasted 10 years.

Derby  -  have been in championship 10 years.

Ipswich -  have been in championship for 15 years.

Leeds  -      "         "                     "              for 8 years.

Middlesborough  -  first year in division but previous spell lasted 7 years.

Forest  -  have been in championship for 10 years.

Preston  -  like us 3rd year in championship but previous spell lasted 11 years.

There are some bigger teams than us who didn,t get out within 3 years which we seem to be expecting city to do.

Get behind the lads for the last 9 games and at least be able to say at the end of the season if we dont make it

We gave it a go

that is my point, it can take longer than 3 years to get out. There is a lot of good teams trying to acheive it.

Realistically wouldn,t you expect Wolves, Cardiff  (despite what we all think of their manager he is doing a

bloody good job) Aston Villa,  Middlesborough and Derby to finish above us with their pedigree. If you

accept this fact then we aint doing too badly.

It's very rare for us to spend five or more years at this level.  Unfortunately we tend to exit through the bottom rather than the top.  Our recent six year spell was an exception.  I think before that we also had an extended spell under a manager who had a few ropey patches, flirted with relegation on occasion, but we stuck with him.  Alan something or other ....

I actually think it will be disgraceful if the crowd don’t get behind the team and any booing or negative vibes would be embarrassing.

Like at Burton, it won't be the crowd, it will be some of the crowd.

And after they had had their little booo, some others applauded the team for their efforts (most buggered off quick, sharp though, doing neither). It'll be much the same Saturday, in the absence of a win.

It's interesting how some are very focussed on the "booing" of a minority, but so often miss the "happy clapping." Truth is, the majority will be mostly "meh" if we don't win, neither booing or happy clapping.

Why should we suppose Cardiff finish above us?

What about Preston, Millwall, Fulham, Brentford- all have less fans and therefore less income unless Fulham still have the parachute.

What about Sheff Utd, only just promoted?

The idea that we are punching above our weight is nonsense in my opinion.

People keep using it as an excuse for the failings of Johnson and Ashton.

So its just about attendances then?
