where would be if we had bothered to get an rb while he was injured.

I think a couple of points better off; lets see if that matters; hopefully not.

No he didn't. He was bang average and got caught out on occasions and offered nothing going forward.

When I saw him going forward he regularly lost the ball and then left us vulnerable at the back.

What’s wrong with being average for a 2nd choice option?

I don't quite get the serial trashing of Londoner's comments. Wright was bang average at RB when you compare him to Pisano which is all we can do. I came back for 6 games and in all 6 he was poor. He tried hard but he was poor; there is no other way of saying it. So if that is being average then I would say it was not the most ideal of back ups for Pisano and he has without doubt contributed to our fall in form. Wright may be a superb CB but I for one have yet to see him there, which is nobody's fault except maybe his own for not being good enough to dislodge Flint and Baker.

Next season we have to find a decent, not average, deputy for Pisano who is a natural RB which Wright is not.

No, that’s your fault for not seeing him play CB :P

Is it realistic for a Championship club with a moderate budget to have “decent” deputies in all positions including full back? I’m not sure it is. By definition a backup player is going to be of lesser quality than the first choice.

“Average” is not poor, it’s average, and I think that’s about the best you can realistically expect to have as backup at full back. A quality full back is not going to sign for an unremarkable second tier club like ours just to sit on the bench.

Personally I think Wright has done a decent enough job at full back.

Because our “second choice option” became our first choice for four months.

Which is exactly what you’d expect to happen when your first choice is injured for four months.

What’s the issue? We’re not Manchester City. When our first choice full back suffers a long term injury we don’t have the clout to go out and sign Paulo Maldini.

In an ideal world where whoever out of the FL or FA or someone else make the rules, we’d have brought in a loan for a month.

In my opinion you would have two choices. Bring in an experienced Prem RB out of favour or a young Prem RB looking for game time.  One month great!  4/5 months?  When your first choice RB is almost back fit you can see why LJ thought he could get by, with Smith and Brownhill as cover for Wright until Pisano back.

It’s not Football Manager, there’s a balance to maintain, a budget to keep to, etc.

In answer to your first question , I believe yes . A back up by nature would be either a youngster who isn't up to 50 or 60 matches a season or an older player who equally would be happy to play less often but to stay at a decent level. Neither case is going to cost the same wages as a nailed on first team starter but may offer the required quality for the position.

My grouse was should a club hoping for promotion to the richest league in the world ' make do and mend ' ?

Full credit to BW but I feel we could have been better placed in the Championship with a specialist right back in place .If we had just a few more points on the board we would be in the play off zone comfortably.

We offer very little in attack with BW at RB , the difference with Eros back in the side is striking,  we are much better balanced.

Eros has been a great signing but his injury has deprived us of his services this season.

We signed him from the second tear in Italy at a good price! What other gems are our their at this level?

We all know that signing players is a gamble and not all will work out look at Gustav Engvall. As a club we are in credit with what we have done so far. We will lose players at the end of the season if we don’t go up!

The big question is are we ready as a club for the huge step up to the next level! Let just enjoy the roller coaster of a ride until the end of the season!!!

Are we ready? It's a bit like are you ever ready for a baby. You could say that about the other teams - are Cardiff ready? Let's just go with it and hope the team can produce more magic!

I think Bailey Wright's time at RB has made him a more cultured CB. Don't flame me.

No I can see it but do not downplay him playing RCB either. Makes a world of difference to him. While if Flint were to leave, I would want a new CB, I would not be outraged if BW just slotted in. At RCB I think you will struggle to find many better and if he was 2-3 inches taller there wouldn’t be a question imo. The way he defends opposition strikers getting ball to feet is superb. Just wish he’d tone down the silly fouls.

I said he did fine not blew us away, no point crying over what ifs. Eros is back and he is class.

No guarantees had we dipped into the market we would be any better off than we are now.

Be very interesting to see what happens when Baker and Flint are back. Back 4 should be Bryan Baker Flint Pisano all day long.
