Finally. LJ can effect a game!

Recommended Posts

It’s been a long time coming but I feel the subs today were spot on. At HT everyone felt the same old ‘here we go again can’t break a team down that has 8 defenders’ but with Djuric we have that plan B, the not pretty win. With these players coming back,  O’Dowda, Bryan, Flint, O’Neil, Hegeler. We can make subs to impact a game.

LJ has had a lot of criticism for his subs, yes they have been poor but lack of options is the main killer imo.

Today he deserves credit as he got it spot on.

Hegeler would not have got on had  Hörður not been crocked. GoN was a sensible decision with his experience to see game out.

Milan was always going to play some part with his presence and aerial ability

What made the difference today was the fact LJ had various options.

Still made a change that influenced the game, meaning we could cross the ball and have someone in the box who will attack anything in the air. Where in the first half our usual style of passing through/creating space for others wasn’t working

He should of bought Kent on at some point in second half, we needed someone to run at them and try and create something.

No need, 1-0 up and he made changes to see the game out. Bringing Kent on would’ve weakened us defensively

There was no point at which it called for Kent to be brought on. We needed a win`and once 1-0 up we needed to close up shop.

Just as GON was warming up-the ball went out of play into the first row of the LS . A guy tried to get the ball back onto the pitch asap and GON looked stern and said- "leave it!" . The old war horse could see we weren't on top and every extra second of wasted time was more valuable to us.

Sometimes you need an experienced head to see out a game.

It wasn't a classic but the three points were.

A headline to create interest as LJ has been tactically brilliant for 10 of the past 12 months so you are an alarmist! You are also right he beat another experienced manager yesterday. How we have missed Milan and how we still miss CoD. Are we going to the play offs? Barnsley is important, Milwall is massive

We're 7th in the league mate. I'm pretty sure he's been effecting games all year. In fact he's transformed us into one of the most respected clubs in the league, in terms of position and style of play.

The difference now is 3-4 long term injuries are back, giving Johnson more options from the bench!

If we hadn't scored when we did, yes, but in the circumstances, no! Djuric was clearly the right and obvious one. Hegeler he had no choice. That leaves only one, and after Sunderland LJ is not going to go all out creativity and worry about a second and risk conceding. GON was the right one.

Fully agree with that. Yesterday for me was an answer to the LJ critics for his subs etc. When the game is dull and looking set for a bore draw he was able to change it to our advantage by bringing on Djuric then shore it up with GoN. Options he hasn’t had for what seems a whole season.

It was a slight dig at people’s criticism of him when he’s been working with an empty toolbox.
