Pretty decent second innings score from England. Shame they batted so pathetically in the first. Is it just me or are they usually no good in the first match of a series?

Yes it was pathetic.........................................Right lets get back to slating the Aussies! :clapping:

Finally Moeen gets dropped and our boy`s in the twelve. Vince and Wood in too with Woakes dropped.

Go on Jack lad, do us proud (not prowed)!

When was the last time we had two Somerset players in an England twelve? It must be years!

Did Tres and Caddick play together? Can only be the most recent.

I bet Jack is 12th man..

I reckon that was how long ago it was - they must have played together at some time.

I`m not sure about Jack only being twelfth man though - if he doesn`t play the only spin we`ve got is Joe Root. Moeen got a fair few overs in the last test. Stokes is the one who needs to make way IMO - not fit enough to bowl and he hasn`t looked right with the bat. It`s only because he`s Ben Stokes he`s in.

Leach plays, Overton doesn't. And going in a bowler down (Stokes won't be doing much from the sound of it) when you're going to need to take 20 wickets makes perfect sense...

Changing the bowlers when the batsmen fail has been an England policy for about as long as I can remember.

They couldn`t possibly pick both Somerset players.

If they did the lower orders might start getting ideas above their station and think you can get into the side on merit rather than on the basis of who you know.

Did Butler and Compton play while both at Somerset?

Anywyay very chuffed for Leach given the route he’s faced into cricket.

Also see Bess got 6fer for the MCC.  The Somerset revolution begins ;)

After getting 109 of 107 balls batting at 9 too! The revolution does indeed begin my friend.

Questions over Cook again. Averaged less than 8 on this brief tour. Despite his sporadic huge scores such as Melbourne and against the WIndies in the summer, he is a walking wicket. Who could replace him? Anyone really. Perhaps move him down, as I've suggested before. When he gets through the new ball and fresh bowlers, he often scores big (see the afore mentioned Melbourne test and Windies series). If he came in and the ball and bowlers were already 30/40 overs old, he could really do some damage.

Great to see Jack finally in the test side, and great to see Ali dropped. Ali is a good player in England and I'd pick him against India and Pakistan in the summer, but overseas he has been poor, and Jack gives us that specialist spin. Hope he gets his chance over the summer too.

Jonny has been batting well. Maybe he could be the one to fill Cooks boots at the top of the order. He opens for the ODI team (different game I know) and if a certain Mr Gilchrist proves anything, your WK can open. At any rate, I feel he is wasted so close to the tail.

Still no idea what England will do when Anderson and Broad retire. Very little promise coming through at their elite level.

I would play Bairstow as a batsmen and play another WK which would prob be Butler as they seem desperate to get him into the test team. Thought Leach did pretty well and certainly deserves to keep his place.

IMO whoever plays wicket keeper in the test side should be there because of their batting skill. Butler's test average of 31 is not to be sniffed at, but if we can find someone who bats better than him, then I'd keep Jonny behind the stumps. After all if there was one thing that couldn't be criticised during the Ashes, it was Jonnys wicket keeping.

Just seen that the BBC has lost the rights for the Sri Lanka and West Indies series' to talkshite.

Any radio listeners who don't want to offend their ears with the s*n on the radio might check out Guerilla Cricket. I've been listening to it for a few years and it's brilliant.

Sad day. You can guarantee after every over there will be a betting advert.
