Stand Up If You Miss The Gas

Forgive me lord for i have sinned.

Hear my confession. In recent weeks i´ve wanted Rovers to win. This has left me with a dirty feeling inside, an uncleanliness that won´t wash off in the shower and i feel confused! I wander the lonely streets at night fearful that my inner gashead tendencies might one day be noticed and i will become an outcast!

So i´ve decided to come clean. My parent´s have thrown me out and never want to see me again. In order to treat this horrible illness i have to at first accept it and then try to understand it.

Whilst trying to find the root of the problem i stumbled on the link below.

With stary eyed nostalgia i remembered my first away derby something i will never forget.

If Rovers get relegated this season Bristol derby days are pretty much a thing of the past. The possibility of weekly banter between the reds and the blues as the two teams jostle for position in the same league will be all but extinct!

Then it all came clear. As long as they remain below us in the league and we get to hump them twice a season i would much rather have our poorer, uglier, never gonna get a girlfriend neighbour around than festering in the lower leagues.

How do other City fans feel about this one? There must be others out there suffering from the same moral dilema!!?? Or do most hold such hatred for the blue few that they simply want them to fall away never to be seen again?

How do I feel about the gas? Well, not to put to fine a point on it, in the fullness of time and considering all angles I think it's fair to say that I hope they die a quiet agonising death of apathy after a short and painful stint in the non league.

Honestly, I think the only way a city fan should talk about missing the gas is in a disappointed tone of voice whilst holding a recently discharged firearm.

Surely not holding a fire arm? Naughty naughty.

Miss the derbies, would be more than happy if we could get them in the cup, and for them to spend eternity hovering around the basement trap door.

I don't.

Listening to them all pipe back up in the last week or so since the Sainsbury's permission is surely enough to cure your embarrassing problem OP?!

If I hear how they're going to 'do a Swansea' once more I may vomit.

Evening all, long time lurker, etc

I miss them as much as the bunion I had removed from my big toe, twenty eight years ago.

Like them, it was unsightly and gave me no pleasure knowing that it existed. I get more pleasure from the 35mm Number 6 stainless steel screw holding my toe in place.

I don't want, or need them to be able to enjoy my life, they are a carbuncle on the ass of the world and should be lanced by a medic to releive us of the pain they spread around.

I was at Trumpton for that game and 4-2 in the last game there,it was one of the top scores in my time following City just because it was the Gas !

It's games like that, that mean so much,is the reason that I would miss the Gas if they did not survive. :reaper:

It does not matter what division we are in, but if City v Rovers are in the same division it means that we have two massive games to look forward to each season.

I do hope that we lock horns again soon.

The only reason we may play them soon, is because of our demise. They do their utmost to hold us back and have no other ambition than beating us. Until recently they have clung to our shirt tails to stop us moving forward and have generally been lower down the football pyramid than ourselves, while caiming they are older more successful.

It's lovely when we beat them but, they put so much emphasis on our games that they generally raise their game and do give us problems. I hate playing them because, we are expected to win and when we don't, they crow for years and we get the bad press, remember "Rag bag Rovers" verses "money bags City"? The press love a chance to knock us, when they achieve anything, it's blown up out of all proportions and compared equally to our greater successes.

So although I'd feel sorry for some of their more sensible fans, they can fall off the edge of the world, for all I care.

I agree, I mean have you heard them this season "bristol football is in a terrible state" and "we're both as bad as each other" ummmm no we are two divisions above you and you are the bottom of the entire league!

They conveniently forget we've just had our best six seasons of league placings since the 70s and they have had their worst finishes in their history over the last twelve years.

Well according to the belters on the gas forum we are walking dead and soon to be left in the shade, with one particular clown claiming they have historically a bigger fan base than any other West Country side!! Despite historical evidence to the contrary, what was the gate at the last ever game at their spiritual home? About 3700 drifting about in the beloved eastville, tote end an all. Still

gobbing off from the lofty position of bottom of the football league, I wouldn't miss them, they are a peculiar unlikable set of half wits who despite embarrassing themselves time and time again are too thick to learn a lesson And keep quiet.

Couldn't care less, genuinely see Cardiff and then Swindon as our biggest rivals, they are the locals who are similar (ish) in terms of quality.

Bristol Rovers are too small and, frankly pathetic for me to even care.

I've watched one derby in my lifetime, a 1-0 loss in the cup, and the abuse I got from the gas afterwards, well, I went to that final and sat with the Donny fans.

Bye Bye Rovers. :sub:

A very slow and very painful demise would be ideal for me.

Slow enough that they go ahead with their new stadium, but painful enough that they fester for ever outside of the football league, with half the seats in their new stadium never, ever having had to suffer the ignomy of supporting the foul-smelling flea-ridden posterior of a disgusting pikey gashead scum.
