Great podcast. Found it particularly  interesting what SL was saying about welcoming new investors to help push for the Premier league

Yes likewise great podcast and also hinted that although Jon is his successor he didn’t think that he would be in it for the long term in the same way as he has been (if I understood that right). I wouldn’t be surprised at sizeable investment coming in. It’s maybe an acknowledgment that Jon is not either equipped or anxious to take over his dads role and maybe for the first time hinting that the Lansdown dynasty maybe in its closing stages over the next few years. Maybe Jon has other ambitions beyond being ‘daddy’s boy’. Of course we would be much more marketable as a Premier League club alongside a top European Rugby Club.

I think you are spot on.

As I said in another thread appointing NP is SL’s last throw of the football dice.

If he is seeking additional investment that is something some of us have been banging on about for literally years.  Perhaps at long long last he is beginning to see that he is part of City’s problem.  I sincerely hope so.  A strong Board, a strong manager backed 100% by The Board, is the key to unlocking the long desired success

Hardly.

Lansdown Jr has failed at / given up on multiple different career paths over the years, particularly those which involve him standing on his own 2 feet.

The only things he has stuck at are those things which Lansdowns Sr have set him up at and maintained an active involvement in I.e. Bristol Sport and property.

Is this what happens when your Daddy is a billionaire?

If you know you’re set up for life perhaps you just play at it ?

I thought that Jon was just the ‘eyes’ at the club to protect the family’s investment. I honestly don’t know what else he does , other than be the whipping boy when Ashton bashing becomes boring.

Agree

Ian & I have mooted on FBC Podcast in recent weeks that he could sell the running of the BCFC brand to a 3rd party and let them play at Ashton Gate for a tiered rental depending on which Division we are in - say £2M for Championship and £1OM if in the Prem. Such new investor could be buying a debt free club [I think Lansdown would be that generous]. Thoughts?

It is good to see that more supporters are now seeing what a number of us have seen for years.  All the glittering toys - stadium, training ground,Bristol Bears etc mean nothing if the football is going nowhere.  If you believe in BS, as I do not, you must nevertheless see that that whole edifice depends on City’s success.

Steve Lansdown is saying that he is actively looking for new investors in Bristol Sport to prop up the finances and to take the club forward. He's obviously looking at when he retires (reading between the lines, Jon either doesn't want it or isn't considered up to it) so we may have a new board sooner than we thought. Anyone on here been approached?

This is what completely turned me against Steve Lansdown. While your rental idea is a good solution it proves BCFC no longer own Ashton Gate. How on earth can we be in a situation where if he sells the club on its own we have to rent Ashton Gate? He has quite literally stolen our stadium, upgraded it now that it’s his, and most people lap it up and thank him.

Every club has a separate  company that owns the stadium . It’s common practice.

Basically had enough chucking cash at the club for no return and would rather someone else do it. Can’t trust Jon and his crayons in the long term to take over the reigns. Give us a Saudi billionaire please if this is to happen and let’s buy our way to the top....

I’m not sure it’s that he doesn’t trust Jon, but more than Jon doesn’t own enough shares in a business of his own that is making any money.

Everyone buys their way to the top, one way or another.

Let's not do it with money from some medieval autocrat, though.

Because that would make the signing of Danny Simpson look like a storm in a teacup.

There are plenty of wealthy people whose money doesn't stink.

If it had to be anyone, I'd rather the US group that Scudamore's on the board of and Billy Beane is also involved with.

He's probably got 2 or 3 lined up. Just going through the interview process and due diligence.

This is the end ....

There is no doubt in my mind that this will sooner or later lead to unprecedented disaster and unmitigated ruin (without the glorious spell at the top level and FA cup final triumph and subsequent European odyssey), and that we will before too long be pine-ing wistfully for the steady, safe and local stewardship of Uncle Steve (as some dodgy, overseas money takes us back to liquidation and relegation and dire Bristol derbies and days of Gillingham and Walsall and yore ..... )

So, we must make the most of what we have now. This just will not go well.

No.

If people don’t think any new investors wont have/ be reading the schlock on here then you would be mistaken.

I wrote a short piece that got rolled into another thread and then-lost saying that the clubs non commitment to signings and news blackout, that everyone was complaining about a few months back was akin to a quiet period while negotiations were on going. All the signs were there then, so this does not shock me in anyway. However in a process such as this with big bucks floating around you will kiss  a fewfrogs!

There are one or two that come here that have been involved in million/multi million deals that probably wont be shocked either.

I hope that any new investor is both a very nice many who has a fairly expensive watch.

That should bring immediate results.

Any other approach and well, it might take time to evolve.

They will come under two basic headings

1 Corporations. Guggenheim bought Thr LA Dodger for 2,4 Billion, one of there best investments

2 Bloke with Money Arab/Russian.Chinese/Indian

All of them will have a nice watch. Usually you will be talking to multiple investors initially getting the price up until you settle on something notional and a LOI is issued. Not sure where SL is but the fact he dropped it on a fan podcast makes me think he might be close to an agreement of some or all of BS with someone.

The big issue is who is buying what? My understanding is the stadium and all clubs are separate as is the new center.

I didnt sell my fifty shares may be ill get back more than a quid
