  2. Amazing that Pearson wasn’t told that he was sacked for results and he wasnt told about the fear the players were being de-conditioned. Shows what slime balls we have running this club

  5. Some interesting (and perhaps American) approaches to current football sentiments. I can see that sone of the stuff that goes on here is also vexing people over there, as it were. Whilst I can see that some of the thinking is in response to perceived irritations, I can't help that some of the implementations regarding injuries will be a thorny issue. Yes, some players do feign injuries but those who are genuinely hurt will need better treatment, not under time constraints. With regard to off-field injury assessments, will it be like the NFL's blue tent? Will games have independent doctors who will pronounce whether a player is fit to return? Is there a thought that such a structure will reduce any long-term health problems and any likely threats of litigation? VAR: yes, we all have an opinion. Whatever the protocol, we are still in the realms where a human is in final charge - and we know they can be frail. Giving the ruling to the crowd is something the NFL has done for many years and it has become the norm. However, will we now find ourselves in a position whereby we all look at the jumbo screens and await our fate? Scenes from an Orwellian future? This will, of course, introduce yet another level of administration to top level games. I am against anything that can't be introduced at grass roots level and feel this is how the game is splitting apart. I must admit I was rather expecting the MLS authorities to introduce a new time limit that would quickly spread throughout the planet - the goal celebration! Maximum of 60 seconds including any flares/crowd invasion/video interview/shirt waving. Anything going over that limit would result in a VAR review, costing more time. Maybe...
  6. Yeah, I mentioned that in the past. For me, Bristol Bears are too insignificant for this to cause an issue.
  7. To be fair, Gary Johnson made him do it (not the headbutt, the interview).
  8. You've changed your tune. The feeling is mutual.

  10. They've released a load of unsold hospitality tickets for general sale. Probably waiting for those to go before announcing anything
  11. I thought that this was another test in addition to the percentage test? So you can spend up to 85% (or what ever limit) of your income, provided that sum is not more than 5 times the lowest income from defined (and presumably known in advance) sources.
  12. and for all the hoards heading to Stoke by train, get the tickets issued from Parson Street if your starting your journey from BTM or Bristol Parkway Stokes ground can be seen on the right hand side above the embankment on the approach to Stoke
  13. Revolut cards weren’t available the last time that I was in Barca CR. I’ll look into it if I visit again.
  14. Just have a look at their financial reports, for the 2023 year Man City had a payroll of £422 million, compared to the 331 million of Man United. I can link them here if you'd like. Not saying they aren't allowed investment, but it isn't disingenuous at all to say they are only challenging because of money. If it wasn't for the money they wouldn't be challenging. No other club has a payroll of over £400 million pounds. Chelsea are just poorly managed, that doesn't mean man City are well managed though, as all of these charges show. Also, please stop referring to them as 'City' we're on the wrong forum for that!
  15. Absolutely! Struggling to fathom how, in particular, they didn't get properly clobbered for 2022. They spent a load this season too albeit some major sales at last. (Verratri, Neymar among others). Messi ajd Ramos both left, again among a range of others. Highly likely they breached to last sesson too unless there was a major FFP fine in there as they are excluded from breakeven Tests.
  16. She also booked one of their players for a foul he committed in a game 4 years ago.
  17. As view from the Dolman says but the tickets are still appearing in my season tickets tab. I guess they might get cancelled. I assume they were setting up for an announcement soon...presumably after the division we will be playing in next year is decided at the weekend?

  20. Club tweeted yesterday. So 4k renewed between the timing of GM’s numbers given to FBC and yesterday.
  21. And the old Debenhams 1950's building has 4 floors albeit with very high ceiling height - unsuitable for direct conversion, energy costs etc, - the building would have to be stripped out to a shell, new layers of flooring, windows repositioned etc. The cost would be astronomical for a smaller return. Or an accountant either
  22. This seems dubious to me, surely the pitch would need to naturally fuse with the ground below it? TAKEN FROM: Men's T20 World Cup: Australian cricket pitches shipped to USA - BBC Sport The pitches used in the United States at this summer's men's T20 World Cup will have had quite the journey when the first ball is bowled at the tournament - being transported over 14,000 miles. They have come in by ship from Adelaide in Australia, via Florida, as organisers run a major global cricket tournament in the USA for the very first time. Matches will be played at bespoke venues in New York, Texas and Florida. The opening game between USA and Canada, and the biggest game of the group stages, India versus Pakistan, will both be played in the States. There are 16 matches being played in the US, with the other 39 being held in the West Indies. And getting the States ready for cricket is quite the undertaking, especially when it comes to preparing cricket pitches. "Our aim is to produce pitches that have pace and consistent bounce, on which the players can play their shots," said Adelaide Oval pitch curator Damian Hough, who has been tasked with growing pitches in Australia and transporting them to the US. "We want entertaining cricket, but there are challenges." Work on the 10 drop-in pitches started at the beginning of October 2023 when they were initially planted in trays. Each pitch was split into two trays, with the end aim being the production of four match-ready pitches and six practice strips. A clay-like soil, which is also used at baseball venues in the US, is being used together with a particular grass which is suited to warmer climates and resistant to rolling and heavy use. The trays were transported in a shipping container on a boat from Adelaide to Florida in January. They have since grown in a warm climate - New York was enduring freezing temperatures at the time - prior to being taken by road to their eventual destination. To limit the time they are on the back of a lorry, two drivers will be employed to drive each vehicle, limiting the need to stop for breaks. It will then take Hough and his team 12 hours to bed the pitch in at the venues, some of which are being purpose built for the tournament. "I have mixed feelings," said Hough, who is a guest on this week's Stumped podcast. "I'm really excited, but I'm a bit anxious at the same time - there are still unknowns. "This is a long process. What we do know is we've given it our best shot. "We've thoroughly thought through every possible outcome and issue along the way and we're hoping that they're going to be some good cricket pitches."
  23. It wouldn't surprise me that the many American owners buying PL clubs were thinking about the opportunity of making the Prem closer to the US model down the road. I think all the US sports teams are profitable as they have no relegation, salary caps, little regard for local fans moving home games and sometimes moving to a new city etc. I think baseball has around 160 games a season and basketball around 100 including the playoffs and I don't think in any US sport it's a system where the clubs play all the opponents the same number of times. Not saying this is all possible in English football but I am sure some of it can be pushed into the game, and it will make the owners investment portfolio look even better. Will be interesting to see if and when a tipping point comes where fans lose interest, I still think the new EFL TV deal is a big gamble but we will see.
  24. Be interesting to see how that works. They do already play a lot of games on Fridays but it's usually where there isn't much travel involved. The league was very heavily concentrated around the north of the country a few years back but with the demise of the likes of Rhyl, Bangor and Prestatyn it's now more evenly spread.
  25. We never got the best out of him because GJ kept playing him on the wing. The guy was an attacking midfielder; and if played there regularly would have been a success IMO. IIRC correctly; LJ was getting game time in midfield, and meant others playing out of position
