  1. If Holloway was ever accepted City manager I would not only give up on this club, but with football in general. If somebody like that could be welcomed in and cheered by the Ashton Gate crowd, then football as I know it would be dead. While we're at it, why don't change our kit to Pink and Yellow spots and go and play in Cornwall. Because at the end of the day nothing really matters does it? What do we stand for as a club? Because if Holloway could ever be our manager, then I would argue we stand for absolutely nothing. I simply do not understand what the people that want him here see in football in the same way I will never understand Cardiff fans that are happy to play in red. There are plenty of candidates for this job that I don't like and/or think are poor managers, but should they be named I would be fully behind them. But not him. Never.

  2. Being out in the wilds all day I didn't hear the news until 9.30 last night so thought I would leave my considered reaction until today. I said the other day I thought the board had made an irrevocable decision to keep SO'D, whatever happened, and I'm very surprised and quite relieved that I was wrong. He was an absolutely dreadful manager for BCFC who took us down in pathetic fashion last season and was on course to do the same again. I'm very surprised so many are up in arms about his removal, his record is insupportable and there's no guarantee whatsoever City were going to improve enough under him to stay up. O'Driscoll wasn't up for the fight last season and the club absolutely could not afford a second ignominious relegation under his uninspirational leadership. The right decision has been made imo, but this can only be confirmed by making the right appointment next. I suspect this is the over riding concern of most SO'D supporters, rather than the act of removing the man himself, because nobody can honestly say he was anything but an extremely disappointing failure at this club.

  3. If you had spent season after season watching that scrawny little fxxxxxr playing against us,whinging, cheating, disputing every decision, trying to referee every game in the late 80's early 90's,you may have a clue about how a lot of us feel about him. But you obviously didn't ,so don't underestimate just how much some of us hate him. This is a person who won't wear the colour RED because it's our colour. Some of our support need to wake up. Edit, here's a couple lines from a piece I just found about the bloke, when he was manager of Blackpool. Holloway next faces the team he rejected as a boy in favour of rivals Bristol Rovers (he still dislikes red, Bristol City's colours).

  4. If Holloway was appointed, I would wish the club every success, but would not pay to watch them during his tenure. If city went on to conquer Europe, it would makeme immensely proud but I detest the bloke, his history and what he stands. Growing up following city nIn the 80s the rivalry meant to much to me and maybe that his lost on some of our younger or more vanilla fans. Its a principle I will stick too and I would be letting myself down if I attended a game with him in charge.I choose to draw the line there and would be a coward to cross. I vehemently despise Bristol Rovers and despise Ian Holloway.

  5. NO NO NO. Yes, I think he would do a good job if he got the job. However, where is the pride people? This is Holloway - gas through and through. For goodness sake, stop all this friendly stuff. Its embarrassing that our fans now clap him. Shows whats wrong with modern football - no passion and no pride from the fans. Would he have got this reception 30 years ago? No. Time machine please, I want some passion, fans freedom and atmosphere back in my club. Good manager but definitely not for us.

  6. There is only one reason I would not want him at this club and that's because he once said "the only good city fan is a dead city fan" I'm from a family where bcfc runs through our blood, many of my family members are now no longer with us. Holloways previous comments Say to me that he's happy their dead, a couple of less city fans in the world. If he was appointed I would be done with this club. First off I would be down at Ashton Gate within 10 minutes voicing my displeasure. Any City fans that would support his appointment are a disgrace to this club. The guy is absolutely vile and it would turn into another pulis situation.

  7. I think your personal views of Holloway are clouding you on that one. Blackpool's stint in the Premiership under him was impressive and they played some nice football - shook up some of the big boys. All on a budget of 1/100th of them.

  8. The Blackpool relegation from the Premiership is hardly a failure. In fact they did bloody well under him in the top tier for the budget they had in comparison.

  9. 3 promotions.... Fine by me.

  10. I believe The Kaiser has the ability to fish better than Captain Birdseye! NO TRUE CITY FAN COULD POSSIBLY BE SO DELUDED TO BELIEVE WHAT THEY PUT ABOVE.. Have people really forgotten the vitriol he had toward us?!?!

  11. He could equally do a shite job. his record is as bad as it is good, added to the jumping ship qualities he has when stating he is happy where he is. Not only is he rightly disliked by a lot of city fans, he is disliked by many other fans for poor management and lying about his true intentions. Steer well clear

  12. If he was appointed the most effective way to protest would be to never attend a game and that is what I would do. My next game would be the first after he is sacked. I'd rather have Pulis or Coppell back.

  14. Do you have the same take on Gengis Ghan, Hitler, Mao........ You weren't born when they inflicted their regimes on people. Plenty of us were born and witnessed the sag ******* goading and insulting us, I would be totally shocked if he even considered managing us, should the board be stupid enough to offer him the position.

  16. Totally different, to the best of my knowledge, none of them acted unprofessionally and insulted the other club and its fans, Hollowhead has done this on more than one occasion, he is a sag, not a professional who played for them without predujice, if you don't understand the ill feeling that it would cause amongst many City fans, then I guess it would be impossible to explain further.

  17. I'll go once to Ashton Gate if he gets appointed, I'll get on the pitch and forcibly put my ticket down the scrawny gas ***** throat and my relationship with this club. #notoholloway

  19. If he ever came near this club that would be it for me. Seriously. I wouldn't even listen to us on the radio. He is the very essence of what being Bristol City supporter is not about.

  20. Well done the board. A difficult decision for them to take. They didn't panic a month or two ago. They gave the man a fighting chance to get thinks going - probably 3 or 4 weeks too much. Clearly the board have made the right move. It was untenable to let SOD carry on any longer. I was pro SOD over most of the season, even though I had to watch poor performances, wrong tactics, negative tactics etc. etc., but I still stayed positive. But even with the so called "improvement" over the last couple of weeks (dented badly by the awful dip against Sheffield Utd!) I realised that the end was in site. And I also realised that it had to be soon, or we would never have the time to get in a new manager who would in turn have the time to look at his young charges and consider what might be needed to strengthen the team and be able to do business in the January window. A fair to good chance we don't get relegated. And furthermore - a decent balanced team would not need a JET - and the club could could make a tidy profit on his sale. So well done the board.

  21. Holloway has 3 relegations on his cv, don't kid yourself he wouldn't make it 4,if given the chance.

  22. Its for the good of the club that he shouldn't even be mentioned as a candidate, he would tear the fanbase apart, I am 100% in the camp that would not set foot in the Gate until he and the board that appointed him had gone. Its irrational and illogical, but thats football.

  24. It had to be the day that a gashead got a 4 year ban for 'an agressive gesture' towards City fans is the day people are seriously talking about him for our top job. WTF has happened to football that people are even contemplating appointing Holloway as CITY Manager? Please god, no!
    1 point
  25. Surely the moment he takes the job he's no longer a gashead? He's a former gashead. If anyone should be furious when he gets the job it is the Rovers fans - how would we feel if, say, Tinnion turned up at theMinimal Ground?

  26. Holloway ? No chance ,not ever .NEVER !!!!!!!!

  27. Most probably thought the same about Pulis and he messed this football club right up. Even he later admitted due to his loyalties to rovers he found it very difficult to manage us. To me that was him saying he tried to ruin us on purpose.
    1 point
  28. I agree with City Loyal, I too would never return to AG or give them a penny of my money again. Bcfc would be gone for me. I have morals, a few wins or promotions wouldn't change them morals, the bloke has said disgusting vile things are our club and supporters, that I could never forgive or get over.

  29. No, should never have got rid.

  30. Holloway?! Yeah, why not. And while we're at it we could employ Stevie Wonder as the bus driver, Nigella Lawson as our community liaison officer for drug education, get Jimmy Savile in to do a few kids coaching courses & get the Lostprophets to do us a fundraising concert. Jesus Christ! Some people are REDS and some people are BLUES. End of.

  32. He also made videos about how much he doesn't like us and has been quoted in the press as saying that managing us would be "selling his soul to the devil". People's support of Holloway as our new manager is a representation of everything that's wrong with modern football. **** the tribalism, **** the history, who's going to get us to the Premier League quickest

  34. The petty tribalism that leads many City fans to hate Rovers more than they love their own team has always annoyed me. Yes it's fun to take the piss out of the Gas and I used to love singing "Cheer up Holloway" when he was their boss, but that was years ago and we haven't needed to play Rovers in a serious game for ages. Grow up children. Who cares about Rovers? I think he's a hilarious bloke - a real character and one of the few true Bristolian who's ever made it to any level of achievement in any walk of life. (brunel wasn't Bristolian or Cabot - Justine Lee Fuzzface anyone?) Admittedly he comes across as a bit of an idiot but that part of his schtick. He's got experience and passion and some kind of a track record. He's no Alex Ferguson, but let's face it, I don't think we can be too choosy. We've just got rid of a perfectly good coach who was systematically trying to build a new team with no funding. Anyone who takes the job on would be mad after the way the board have treated SOD. We'd be lucky to get a manager who'd had the kind of success Hollowhead had had.
