  2. Many a true word etc etc The priority for Nicholas was to get out and this option enabled him to do that. Although details of the transaction have not been disclosed it is interesting that those who had the most to gain by their debt being repaid seem happy whereas those who possibly expected a windfall for selling their shares do not appear overjoyed. And apparently no offer was made to the shareholders still left with 8% of the equity ? But the big question remaining unanswered is the commitment to the future because Nicholas had repeatedly said he would only sell to someone who could show they had a plan to take Rovers forward and prove they had the funds to implement that plan. Where is the plan ? The other interested party are said to have had a plan which included building the UWE Stadium to it's full specification and injecting substantial cash into the football club to help elevate the team up the leagues. But perhaps they were not prepared to be so generous to Nicholas and Co so he turned a blind ear to them ?

  3. Thing is fella...that is your opinion... But when anyone stood up for SoD you were all over em like a rash...yet when the tables are turned, it's different? You can't have it both ways. You liked him as a manager, and because others don't, and he proved to be a failure this season, you can't seem to handle people talking about him in negative tones. What you seem to only look at, is the short term results of SC's tenure. Yes, he got us promotion and it was a great season...but at what cost? The damage he was doing throughout the rest of the Club goes unnoticed by the majority. It was short term success...he was actually doing more damage long term. His time in league 1 suited in many ways, the timing was very easy compared to others...contracts up and allowed to spend on players. Previous managers had various 'shackles' to work with...and it showed. But at least some were trying to do the right thing, and put things in place for the future. Great...the man should be applauded for getting us promotion...but what he did this season was disgusting. And because he got us promoted, he got away with it...any other manager would have been thrown out earlier...and I'm not just going on about the rubbish he was producing on the pitch. I haven't looked...but his results this season must be the worst under any City manager. Now when anyone compares Sc's time this season, to how it's changed since he's left, throughout the club, it causes a few to react negatively. I really can't understand how you can't see how badly he was managing the club this season.... His closest work colleagues take over ( JP and WA ) and change things immediately...across the club...so that goes to show they didn't believe in what he was doing. Players have come out and said how much better they feel playing a different way. SC said he couldn't get anymore out of these players and made excuse after excuse...what a load of bollox that was. The bloke was stubborn and selfish and thought nothing more than himself...he thought he was bigger than the Club...arrogant to the last. Cut off his nose to spite his face. If you get a chance...speak to people down their now. It's like a heavy depressing weight has been taken away. Nothing to do with results only. Either way...I'm not going to agree with what you think about SC...EVER. So why don't we just avoid commenting on one another comments regarding such, as we just go round in circles.

  4. There was once a young man called Wael who lived in Jordan with his mother and sister whom he loved very much. Wael and his family lived in a very dangerous part of his country that was always in turmoil. However, despite this, he was very fond of football and played with his friends every day. Years later Wael made his fortune from entirely above board, legitimate business dealings and decided to buy an English football club called Bristol Rovers. Rovers did outstanding with Wael owning the team. After another win, Wael received a phone call from his his mother. Wael answered the phone and put it to his ear in anticipation. His mother spoke, "How could you!? Your sister gets raped almost everyday! Our home is riddled with bullet holes! We can't get clean water! We can't sleep with the constant sound of bullets being fired at night!" She pauses to collect herself. "I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR MOVING US TO WHOREFIELD!"

  5. Oh yeah some of ours have got a bit carried away for sure. The new owner seems far more level headed than what some of our fans are. You guys look like you might have turned the corner so playing you next season might not be so close as it was a couple of weeks ago. Hopr to see you in the championship in a couple of seasons. Fingers crossed

  7. And another thing! I have a small number of shares in various different banks and financial institutions. This makes me a minority share holder. Thanks to 'Gas Logic and Accountancy' I wake up this morning and I'm suddenly a multi billionaire! God bless the assets under management at companies various. I didn't realise until earlier that the monies these companies control was actually all mine.

  10. My genuine prediction for Rovers in the next 2/3 years... They will get promotion to League 1. Struggle for the first 3/4 months and Clarke will get sacked. Holloway their god will come back and they will talk of Premier League once more and will struggle. They'll languish around L1 for years and do not a lot. They'll still claim they're a bigger, better supported club than us, somehow they're richer and we're really jealous. Glad my Dad was a City fan, imagine being one of them!!

  11. **** me. Every branch hit when he fell out the ugly tree. Do they still make Clearasil? If that was me and I knew I was going to end up like my pie eating, 1 brain cell Dad, I'd be on the next plane to the Dignitas Clinic. The gift that keeps on giving! Priceless!

  12. No I don't think anyone can agree. There has been zero evidence to back up any wealth. Nick Higgs was quite well off, wouldn't it be perfect if Higgs actually has more money than these lot?

  13. UWE won't sell the land, they aren't stupid. They want joint sports facilities, gym etc with campus shops and a stadium to hosts events/sport in - they asked Rovers to come in on the project to share costs, and give you guys a home, you pay rent and have a share of stadium income... win, win for you and UWE. Your owners don't have the money to buy the land, and why would a Jordanian bank (that your owners family have a 36% stake in) agree to buy naming rights ? I imagine UWE will look elsewhere if you are not interested, I know that they have thought about a indoor athletic stadium with a aim of getting competitions bought to Bristol as well as providing all the facilities they wanted for thier campus/students..... who knows maybe SL and Bristol Sport might get in on that as we need a Athletic stadium in Bristol and it's something on Bristol Sports radar I am sure. Rovers are not the only people who can give UWE what they want.

  14. indeed fella, after a manager who forgot about the first team in favour of behind the scenes and a manager who forgot about behind the scenes in favour of the first team, that the board have a manager who can multi task. By the way you've just described Jose Mourinho as well.

  15. Worse case scenario they own the mem and a football team to manage, best case, they get a nice new stadium, with multiple income options in a great location with a big and growing catchment area. So it was probably a good deal... i'd have done it myself if that scratch card this morning would had been more than £5

  17. I personally think this could go either way for the g*s. What happens with them doesn't really bother me either. What did bother me yesterday though was the brain dead dullard that kept using the take over of the g*s as an excuse to shout/sing racist slurs about it all afternoon. I've met some thick people in my time but you sir were right up there with the thickest. Very very poorly educated man.

  19. Was it me or did Morecambe wear a kit that very closely resembled the original Black Arabs FC kit yesterday?! Some sort of ridiculous tribute I'd like to think! Preferred it when Mansfield relegated them wearing a gas kit!

  20. Having spent a bit of time reading through this thread, I am truly amazed at how bitter some of you lot come across. It's disappointing that they now have a chance to kick on but some on here seem so desperate to put them down, that you cling to anything and make yourselves look bitter and petty. "Oh Lansdown still has more money" or "be careful what they wish for" Will it pay off for them? Who knows....but can some of us just stop acting so bitter . It's embarrassing

  21. Noted Spud. I think most post people can agree on what is essentially entertaining and turgid football mind; be that 4-4-2 or 3-5-2. There is a lot more to SC's last weeks than meets the eye and we will never understand it all but you are right and the team and the results are bigger and more important than any individual, owner, manager or player.

  25. He referred to them as "Bristol" in his interview with radio Bristol after todays game. It annoys me when people refer to either us or the gas as "bristol", it shows a complete lack of understanding about football in Bristol. Stop winding him up Dons.

  31. Not sure why he felt the need to comment on us. I thought we controlled the whole 1st half albeit without creating enough. They had a slight go 2nd half with JET's effort nearly hitting the top tier being their first effort in almost an hour at our goal. Not sure how we can be poor if we limited them to zero efforts for best part of an hour. Thoroughly deserved victory in a sh1te stadium, lifeless and boring. No wonder their fans that did bother to show up couldnt be arsed to make any noise. Deflecting his comments onto 'bristol werent any good' is surely one of those lessons these guys get when doing their badges to deflect the criticism of their own shortcomings away from themselves. Classless.

  33. Seen a couple of posters saying Joe Bryan MOTM....which is really good to hear after a stuttering season, and also in a game where another player got a brace. So wished I'd been there, but at a Chess Tourney with Joe (won 5 lost 2) who qualified for next event. I'm not a regular away traveller, but I hate missing any game these days.

  34. If he was our established FB I would have said he was very solid first half and looked very comfortable. Second half got caught out of position a couple of times, but played a full part in a clean sheet. ...then you remember this was his first game ever for us, in an important match.

  39. Typical. Out of the woodwork they all come. You've said absolutely nothing of any note to counter any of my points. What exactly have I said that's bollocks? It's all pure fact. Lets look at it again: Your new stadium (if it gets built it's still not a given) will be much smaller than ours. FACT. That was my point, don't know why your'e blabbering on about a "freehold arrangement" or whatever. You will not be able to spend vast amounts of money because of financial fair play. Until (if) you are at UWE, you will not generate the necessarily revenue to do so. The days of clubs being able to do that in the lower leagues are gone. FACT. You are two divisions behind us, and as things stand that status quo will remain. We are 21st and you are 8th, outside the playoff positions. FACT. You could make the playoffs, so could about 6 other teams around you. Your new owner may or not handle the running of your football club well. The English league is a different ball game to Jordon. Nobody will know until he starts running it. Google him, and youll see his fortune is around 80 million. You've been crowing for years and years about how you were soon going to overtake us. It's never happened. When are you going to learn your lesson and actually shut your gobs because all you've ever done is make yourselves look silly. Bye

  40. For all the Al-Qaeda fans trying to give it large and telling us that they are coming for us, here is a simple message...... You have to get promoted twice and build a 27k ground and get bigger gates than you have for the last 50 years just to catch up,

  41. This appears a brilliant thing in terms of short term gain for the gas. It appears they've successfully navigated through the choppy waters of the Sainsbury's debacle. But long term, I'm not quite so sure. I'm not sure I want them to go out of business, that'd be quite sad (in the long term, although hilarious in the short term), but now they've got a family in charge whose money is more important to them than the club. At least we know that SL supports us and everything he does is for the good of the club... Random Rich (ish) foreign investors, I'm not quite so sure. I hope there are some realistic gas fans out there. This isn't quite the exciting news most of them think it is.

  44. Am I the only one that finds this thread rather cringe..? I personally think it's great that Rovers have been bought out and I hope they manage to get to the Championship so we can have two proper clubs in Bristol that can enjoy proper derby's. I was actually talking to a Celtic fan the other day and even he was saying that he can't wait until Rangers get back up to the top flight so I don't understand all the cringe worthy insults coming out. I mean honestly, saying the guy (who is obviously very wealthy) looks like he is wearing a cheap suit? Are we back in the playground!? Anyway, i'm sure now some of the 'old boys' or the 'real fans' will tear this apart but oh well! Do your worst! Good luck Rovers and hopefully the next time you play us we'll both be in the Championship or better giving you a 6-0 thrashing!
