  3. To me Rovers are the stain that stops Bristol having a proud history in the top league. Small time to never reach the Prem but just enough to affect our support. Given the choice of seeing City v Rovers regularly or City v Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal? Its a no brainer.

  4. Any of our fans saying that we don't care about Rovers anymore is deluded and just plain wrong. They may have been insignificant on the pitch for us over the last 16 years but that doesn't mean they aren't our rivals anymore. They could be playing on the downs league for all I care, I'd still hate the bastards and wish nothing but misery on them. Just admit the fact that they always will be our biggest rivals and nothing is ever going to change that. And the sag fans accusing us of obsessing over them can go and do one as well. Last time I was back home, I was drinking in a pub near the bus station and overheard a load of your fans talking... Pretty much all the talk was about us, very little on your own team. You are as obsessed with us as much as you claim we are with you, the same as any other rivalry in the UK. Cheap point scoring, mocking, hypocritical comments... Yep, its part of being in a two team city and I wouldn't expect any less from either set of fans. If people are so "precious" about it, then why not support a team like Reading or Bournemouth that have no rivals and nobody gives a s**t about.

  5. Far more importantly, why is Bubbles (Trailer Park Boys) at the game? Which then leads to the question, is he: A) An actual Grimbsy Town Fan B) Another one of us gert dirty Sh*t-heads turning up to cause trouble C) One of the many, many thousands of Gas-heads forced to buy a ticket in the Grimbsy end? My money is on B as he is the only one who talks any sense in that show. Though you have to say fair play to all the hordes of Gas in the Grimbsy end for showing remarkable restraint in the face of blatant provocation from our lot.

  6. Ah, the supreme irony of a 15er quite literally obsessing about post numbers, post percentages, top posters on a thread, photos of people at Wembley and attacking a BRISTOL CITY fan on a BRISTOL CITY FORUM. Amazing. promotions from tin pot leagues and an owner with a minority holding in a small middle eastern bank might buy you a £15k watch... But it cannot buy the joy you've given me. p.s. I'm guessing under 20 posts for me. If you could confirm that would be great

  7. He is good at what he does, his style makes for pretty boring fights though. He must be a nightmare to fight.

  8. The cardiff game at the gate this season proved that, horrendous atmosphere and not even a sell out.

  9. If you think it's dead and buried you obviously don't live or work in Bristol.

  11. FFS i really dont understand this type of attitude, do you not remember how good proper derby days were with them? Do you not think this is what makes football special having bitter rivals..?mate football is at the worst it has ever been, watered down crap for the most part. You take this kind of thing away and what are you left with? A plastic corporate heap of shit! If you cant enjoy and embrace a good rivalry with your City neighbours then fo0k me why dont we all just give up City and take up bowls on a Saturday afternoon ay?

  12. About 6/7 of us? Cue predictable responses suggesting 6/7 is actually a large amount for us Of course it would have been many more than 6/7, but many of us were locked outside the forum.

  13. What a condescending post I for one think they have done very well to get promoted to league one when I thought they would struggle to get out if conference. You make some valid points but also make us sound like some vastly superior Bristol super club when we are now only one league away from the gas and they have momentum. also you say they always harp on about us but 205 pages on this thread suggests we are no different and most match days just as many songs are sang about rovers than our own team so we can by no means say we are not obsessed by them. we have struggles most of the season and while I can see hope for a better one next year most of us are realists and know that bcfc is never a straightforward love affair and we could be at the same level as rovers before very long. our fan base continues to grow? Yes agree but not at the level to fill a 27k stadium with our newsstands top tier not being used much if at all next year. they have struggled yes but with a new owner some good players could ensure a comfortable mid table season next year.

  14. Hi. City fan here. Rovers do matter, because we live cheek by jowl, in this small city. We cannot avoid each other. That's it, really. We try to make out that you are not relevant, and, on the pitch, you are not relevant to us, and have not been so for some years now. Because you are not in the same league as us. But you are relevant, or more precisely, your fans are relevant to us, not your team, because we live and work and socialise cheek by jowl in this small city and whenever you get the smallest opportunity you bend our ear with prowed boasts and big promises and stuff about Lansdown and so on, so you lot won't let indifference take hold south of the river. You sing things like "are you watching Ashton Gate" the reverse of which is never sung at AG. When you were in the Conference, your scores were not read out at AG because your team did not matter to us. If the roles had been reversed, it is difficult to believe our non-league scores would not have been read out. You dream of more Bristol derbies, whereas for us, the Bristol derby means failure, going backwards, godawful football. Everything to lose, little to gain. Our dreams are different. Our managers never refer to you or your team because you and your team do not matter to him or us, because you are not in our league. The teams that matter to us are Aston Villa, Leeds Utd, Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottm Forest, Wolves, Cardiff. Teams like that. Teams newly promoted to L1 do not matter to us, not while we are a cut above that level. We have enough to contend with there, without watching what is going on in lower league football. But we do not live cheek by jowl to the fans of teams like Aston Villa, Leeds Utd, Derby County etc, we live and work and socialise next door to and alongside the fans of a team newly promoted to L1, fans who noisily ensure we cannot ignore them and forget them, like we have their team. Your team matters no more to us than do the teams of Northampton and Oxford. On the pitch, you do not matter. Your goal highlights come after ours, on a separate programme, for lower league football. We turn off before your goals come on because your team and its goals do not matter to us. Your fans, we cannot avoid, and are relevant but only because we share this great city and you are in our ear with your little bro' jibes. The day we sing, "are you watching Memorial Ground?" is the day I'm ready to pack up and do something else. Appalling thought. Singing that is "obsession." That must never be sung here. (Not everyone feels like this. Some seem to long for the "passion" of the Bristol derby. But many of us are happy to have moved on and want to see us compete at the top of the Championship. This is a great league. What about both of us in this league? We don't need that, there is more than enough excitement for us in this league for now. Give me wins over Leeds or Derby or Villa, not scuffy games v Rovers. No thanks).
