  1. They gave them 4k because that's how many turned up for Cardiff.

  2. Yep, I was more than happy with the night. For the first half hour they absolutely tore us to shreds, and when they scored two quick goals I feared the worst, but we actually gave a very good account of ourselves in the end. Just as well really, as now we are one of the richest clubs in the world we will soon be playing these teams on a regular basis

  3. Not sure how many years I have left on the planet, but I would hope that in those left, I get to see one team in Bristol, I wouldn't normally wish the demise of a club as you need opposition, but in the case of the gas I make a very definite exception.

  4. **** me! If he's actually serious then he's a deluded moron. All the comments I saw on social media at the time they went down (especially from fans of clubs they play regularly) were laughing at them. As for all the 'lovely' comments he's heard from opposition fans...sounds like the sort of stuff you'd say to a needy prat in the pub just to get rid of them. For a club that are apparently so loved by everyone else it's strange that in the Bristol area most people prefer to follow City. Clearly not as special as they think are....

  5. The irony of Rovers fans boasting about either thier attendances or laughing about our attendances blows my mind every time! Yet it continues year after year! Most teams from the lower leagues would take 4K to Chelsea in the cup and I'm pretty sure most teams do, so why is it being made into such a big deal by them? They should be angry and embarrassed that only 4K turned up to the first round match at home! And they call us plastic!

  6. Hi Phil, you make a very good point here and it's something a lot of your fans either choose not to grasp or are too thick to understand. Your game against Cardiff wasn't so special, very low gate Chelsea away, very special....sell out quickly. We took about 160 to Scunthorpe because the game just wasn't that attractive to the average travelling fan and as Miah correctly points out, had the Gas been in a similar situation the attendance would've also been low. The more your cabbage brain element try and call our support in general shit based on the away following at a League Cup 2nd round match in Scunthorpe...the more some of us will point out that you managed about 3.5k at home in a morgue-like atmosphere against a supposed local rival. Some of us might even throw in a dig about the fact that our home and away attendances have always been better than Rovers. Your lot do tend to start it mate...it really puzzles me tbh.

  7. What a belter that should of read. It was typical of your lot though wasn't it. When we were on our knees in 82 your board were circling like vultures to buy Ashton . When you were evicted from the dog track you tried to get bath to pay for improvements to make it good enough for league football. With Chernobyl you waited until Bristol were on their asses before whipping the rug from under them. I have it on very good authority that all rugby memorabilia was taken down and thrown out as well. Always had your begging bowl out as well , moaning that various councils wouldn't build you a ground. Vile vile club.

  14. Quite agree. He has succeeded where manytried and failed. He took you out of the football league to the conference and the only reason he stayed in a job was because Higgs didn't have the cash to sack him.

  15. Exaggerating again are we? Bolton... 9,169 75% of capacity Oxford 10,053 85% of capacity Cardiff 4,851 41% of capacity. So in conclusion you dont at all, talk about spin .

  19. Looking back it was an odd situation City found themselves in. If, like a lot of fans, you think cup games are all about getting to go to the glamorous clubs and grounds, then Chelsea was the plum tie for any club, if you had to pick the worst possible draw, it would probably be Scunthorpe away. Anyway, I'm sure it will come back to haunt us if you progress further.

  22. Its really not... Whats even more laughable is the unprofessional way Dopey acted on several occasions.. The videos down the pub, the unprofessional comments about Grimsby, his interview from last season after we lost to Brentford... Pub side manager, pub side team. Sums up the Gas all over.

  24. Argggh. Dear god. OK lets break this down. According to soccerway, the capacity of your third world dump of a ground is 11,916. 90% of that would be 10,728. So tell me how you are going to achieve that for every home game this season when you haven't averaged anywhere near that for OVER FORTY YEARS!!!!! You didn't even get that for your first game of the season, a local derby in the cup, and the game vs Bolton (the biggest team you've played in a number of years) May I also add that we've sold out our available capacity for both of our home games so far this season. And last season, all bar two or three home games were a home sell out of 14,000 or so. We wont sell out 90% of 27,000 this season probably at all, but theres a bit of a difference between our fantastic modern build and your dump. Its hardly any wonder theres a 300+ page thread mocking you, when your fans continually come out with such absolute drivel. Now jog on.

  25. If we cut to the chase it's quite obvious that Wael and Stephen Hamster are uneasy with some aspects of Darrell's personality and likewise he is not entirely relaxed working with them. But this should all be part of that Evo Stik not Revlon Solution thing and if the exercise is being carried out properly we shall be seeing a calmer and more professional Darrell Clarke emerge in future. Unless it's all a load of baloney and they are just waiting for an opportunity to parachute a slick and sexy foreigner in to his position ...

  32. I refer you to my a post I made on this topic last week: "Incidentally, when adding the name @Philgasto the above message, I was given the option to choose between @Philgas and @philgas1who joined in 2004 but hasn't posted since 2012 having made 811 posts. Please don't tell me that this was you and that you've been a member on here for 12 years? If so, it's about time you stumped up you £5 to become an OTIB Supporter, like so many of us have chosen so to do." Phil subsequently admitted that this was his former account. So he's made more than 1200 posts on here over time ...

  34. Where is the 70 odd figure coming from for Scunthorpe? Hardly a huge following but our actual following was over double "70 odd" (158). That distance on a Tuesday for that competition and those opponents...not a bad effort.

  35. 2 more cheap loan signings made in the last day. Players who were on loan to Yeovil and AFC Wimbledon last season in League Two, they still haven't spend any money at all on transfers this summer, their 2 permanent signings being someone who is 30 and was out of contract at Plymouth (League Two, again) and someone that Port Vale had only offered reduced terms to stay. That millionaire/billionaire stuff the media laps up about the Jordanian is looking pretty suspect, no?

  43. Typical City fan spin...4k is all we were given, and no, we wouldn't have taken 14,000 had we the tickets...'struggling to sell out'- another ridiculous statement...we can and will sell 90 per cant of our capacity for every home game...you, in your shiny 'new' stadium will not.....

  44. As Phantom suggested might happen (it wont let me quote for some reason), I did wonder on the way home last night if you would get Chelsea in the next round. Anyway, there is a lot of bitching/crowing from both sides about last night. I had a great night out at a ground I don't get to go to often, in a great atmosphere, and my team gave a decent account of themselves against what was a long, long way from being Chelsea reserves. Pretty much what fans of lower league clubs hope for in cup competitions. We took a lot of fans, and you would have taken the same. We 'took over' the pubs, and you would have done the same. You took 70 odd to Scunthorpe, and we would have taken a similar amount under the circumstances (although I will confess that I thought you would have broken the 100 mark with northern based supporters) Last night was Rovers turn, you (and pretty much every other league club) will have their turn soon enough.

  45. That's the bottom line. More Gasheads went to Stamford Bridge last night than could be bothered to show up at home against Cardiff City. All this does is highlight how many of them come out of the woodwork for a trip to a big Premier League ground, as Iron Man said, they still haven't sold out their game against Swindon. ...and they call us plastic

  47. Wouldn't mind knowing this myself. Not enough room around Lyde Green nor the science park. It would have to be near Kendleshire (which is probably closer to Downend than EG) or Shortwood way, which I really cannot imagine.

  48. Had a gander on SlagChat to see what the latest on UWE is. Apparently an announcement is still imminent (has been for around 4 months) and will probably confirm the new ground is going ahead. But there are some non-believers who think the stadium might not happen. But don't fear, apparently one ITK poster claims they've found (presumably purchased?) A site in Emerson Green where they'll be able to build a stadium capacity of, wait for it, 55k! Amazingly some sags seem to think there is a chance that may happen, instead of them building the stadium they actually have planning permission for. It really is like visiting a mental asylum over there.
