  1. I imagine the pressure of playing at a packed Mem must be in tents.

  3. They worked on the ground all day to make sure it was safe. Apparently they doubled up on guy ropes and put the patio furniture in the unusable pasty hut.

  7. Professionalism. That's the word I want to scream when I have to talk to a Gashead. City: * Proper training facilities with potential upgrade coming soon * A proper stadium that looks amazing - and when our move fell through Lansdown already had designs, planning permission and exactly how he was going to fund it already in place. That's a proper businessman - you have back up plans * Well respected in the city and surrounding areas, with academic institutions and local authorities actually happy to work with us * Part of a large sports franchise that isn't just advertised on billboards deep in Rovers territory but is part of a global company's nationwide radio campaign. Also has the Foundation working with schools and the community and the team appearing at the Balloon Fiesta etc * Actually rich owner - the stadium, his old firm and the rich lists all prove it Rovers * A field somewhere - the fence hasn't been paid for and they've not got planning permission yet despite their current training ground having been sold by its owners * Some tents, patio furniture and a condemned pasty hut. The UWE "fell through" / couldn't be afforded with no plan B in sight let alone with planning permission or funding * Burned bridges with UWE, their local community, Sainsburys, anyone they've ground shared with and any contractors they've not paid * They've appointed a used car salesman as commercial director. Oh and Santa's Grotto. Never forget that * Their owner has only spent money he's secured against their home, appears to have no wealth from the family beyond that backing him and his wealth seems to be forever out of the reach of Rovers. He also wears tracksuits with his initials on despite never playing as he saw it on TV dramas and thought it looked cool Even ignoring the more-than-double attendances, we're not even in the same universe. We're professional and professionally managed - they're just tinpot... PS: And before a Rovers fan says "but you're obsessed with us" my grandparents and family spent all they had on shares in 82 to save the club, and watched Rovers fans denigrate us and try to block any attempts to help us. So I'll hate them till I die and foster this hatred in the next generation too!

  8. While I could probably make my first post on how great I think we're doing at the moment (3rd generation City fan and honestly think we look the part for the first time in many years)... The dawning of reality on the R*vers forum was too good to pass up: Topper Gas Gas Posts: 10,080 Posting Level 15 minutes ago Quote Post by Topper Gas on 15 minutes ago 19 minutes ago newblue said: 58 minutes ago Henbury Gas said: But would such player want to play in a crap stadium and port a cabin training facilities when they could go to the likes of Shrewsbury Town with their new but basic stadium and training ground Perhaps Shrewsbury is the model we should be looking at and we forget the delusions of grandeur that abound. But they were fighting relegation all last season? Although they sold Gay Meadow for an out of town site, the opposite Wael wants us to do! Relegation, delusions of grandeur and tinpot all in one... The portacabin training facilities Henbury mentioned:

  9. Can we take a moment to appreciate that they ACTUALLY use tents in their stadium? Like tents, the things you go camping in? Is that not the most tinpot thing you've ever ******* heard in your life?

  12. A brave post - I can't argue with it. The honeymoon is long over DC it's all down to you to put it right. A bit of stability in team selection wouldn't go amiss. Only a few really know why the team wasn't strengthened where it should have been - there was plenty of time to do it - this isn't a hindsight statement. How much have we actually spent on getting players in since the end of January - I'd guess around £500k top. Take the £300k from the Taylor transfer and another circa £300k from the Chelsea match and we're still in credit - IMO I feel the supporters have been sold short in all honesty. The team is arguably weak in depth in all areas - back, middle and front. Cracks now showing

  14. To be fair I'd struggle to do his job. Having to find something positive to say about them?! "Umm, the Mem might make a nice supermarket? Not a posh one though, a Lidl or something..." "Their owner has a very nice tracksuit although we're not sure why he's got one..." And I'm out

  17. Surely you don't mean they lost to the side that hadn't won a league game all season and that were bottom of the league?

  22. In all seriousness, how much are they losing on a gate like that, another season of piss poor attendances is really going to hit home, surely?

  27. I think we did exceptionally well in defence considering we had no established right back and a reshuffled defence . For their first goal there was no one in that position to block out the danger . Their right winger was outstanding and run our defence ragged in addition to firing in corners low, fast and powerful which needed just a nick or the slightest of touches to go in but we stood firm. We have become dogged and confident . The signs are good.

  29. That 2nd half was as crazy a game of football I've witnessed in a long time. Whilst we battled well, make no mistake, we got lucky tonight. Outplayed thoroughly in the 1st half. 2nd half was pure madness. Every time we made a mistake in the middle or in their half they attacked so quickly and piled crosses in. We rode out luck massively at times. Was actually stunning when we took the lead. I was actually laughing more than screaming when we scored. It was that unbelievable that we went ahead. What surprised me the most was at 3-3 I'm thinking "hold on. A point here is great", and then I see Korey of all people bursting forward and vacating the midfield at every opportunity. We wanted the 3 points even though we rode our luck so much. Crazy half of football. Whilst outplayed and terribly fortunate, we did actually deserve the point through our tenacity, energy and desire.

  30. Let's think about this scientifically. There is now no 'expectation' of someone else paying for a new ground for the losers and the way their owner is stacking up debt on the club, there's an expectation that they will be broke by March. Why on earth would the players expectation be anything other than absolute despair? No wonder they're crap! OTIB

  31. Anyone know how many they are taking to Wigan?

  32. I suggest they don't take the piss out of our following at Wolves............just look to their own pathetic home crowds ( oh, I forgot, it was raining ) !

  33. He said. I need to ask them if they want to be top 6 players , lower league one or league two because some of them are struggling with the expectations at this club. I nearly ******* choked where I was laughing so much. What a belter do they live in their own bubble or something

  34. Indeed. I've been working at New Cross hospital up there today and, to man, they assumed they were gonna batter us. I did remind them it was City they were playing and not the crap from the swamp, the battering is next week!

  35. D C blaming his keeper on the radio for 2 of the goals conceded, very unprofessional.

  36. Lets wait and see then. If he's so good why are we all interested in who will buy him. Surely he is better off staying with us. Seems to me that people are more interested in what we can make out of our best players money wise than what they can do for us and our future. Where is the ambition in that ?

  37. By god we looked awful defensively in that second half, however, and more importantly WOW, I don't think I've ever seen a Bristol City team work so damn hard for each other. They must be absolutely shattered. I'm not even worried about the defence as we've shown to be alot better than that ( no doubt tiredness played a part). **** hoping for mid table, we can achieve something alot more than that if we show the same grit and determination as that, we have the quality. Going to bed a very proud City fan tonight.

  38. That'll do. Say what you like about this lot, but there's a lot more fight and resilience in them than there was last year. We'd have lost that last year.

  40. I don't think it's too bad, considering it will be the second away match within a few days, midweek and at a place we traditionally are less successful at. Collectively over 4,000 between two games, which aint cheap.
