Horrified to see this on the BBC News website today. When will they stop?22 points

That’s the point! People hate the competition and are letting people know it. They should be applauded for that (not the result, that was hilarious) but can’t people get it into their heads that the low crowds are intentional? It really isn’t difficult to understand. Apologies if I’m coming across as a Gas sympathiser but if we take the piss out of the 1% where they don’t deserve it then it undervalues the 99% when they do.21 points

I've just read the methane sorters post about everyone around the country loving the gas. As I'm working in Swansea this week on a nhs project, I got chatting to a Swans fan about football and he asked if we were rebuilding our stadium as we were doing really well in the Championship. I showed him the pics and he was well impressed and very positive about City. He then asked 'whatever happened to the other lot, did they go bust?' My reply was 'watch this space' to which he replied 'good, they are just plain weird!' He's just made a new friend!9 points

Rumred is spot on. I don't know how others feel but the integrity of sport is more important to me than a cheap laugh at the blue few. Well done to their fans that boycotted the game. If this competition is a success then we could well be playing Stoke City B in a league game one day. This is what they are planning and it needs to be stopped.9 points

I get boycotting the Checkatrade, fair enough.........but what has League One done wrong in their eyes ?8 points

I know, it’s such a ridiculous thing they often come out with. I remember seeing a post where one of them said they went into a shop (cant remember where, somewhere up North) and the staff asked where he was from...he said “Bristol” and they gasped in horror, then he said “no it’s ok...I’m a Gashead” and they breathed a sigh of relief ******* dumbos. I swear they believe the shit they spout. What they don’t ever seem to take into account when reciting stories of people they’ve met who apparently hate City is human nature. If I meet a Sheffield Utd fan, I’m likely to just go alo7 points

I’ve been buying the Viz for years and nearly every month they do a spoof ‘Take a Break’ style gossip magazine article. It always features some fictional, attention seeking bullshitter making outrageous claims about things they’ve got up to with celebrities in private or boasting about inside knowledge they’ve obtained by accident whilst unblocking Brad Pitt’s bog. Henbury Gas and his computer shop is a bit like a real life version of that.7 points

Rovers took 40,000 fans to a conference final? EHHH?? They are literally like the North Korea of football.7 points

We're making ourselves look like numpties by mocking their low attendance in this 'competition'. In this case, the lower the attendance the better.7 points

Genuine question. How far down the pyramid would they need to go to have the best facilities in the league?6 points
-
Oh yeah I find that. Everywhere I go and I say I am a city fan everyone stop talking to me and I am shunned. Meanwhile my gashead brother in law is treated like a king.6 points

Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away might have been great tonight but it'll be ******* hilarious in a couple of months when they're on it.6 points

Up next; Who put the **** into Scunthorpe? Well I'm guessing that Dopey will put 11 of them out there on Saturday dressed in that stupid blue and white quartered clowns outfit. Best City link I can find is that we sold them legendary horses arse Steve Torpey for what was at the time their record transfer fee of £175,000. Up front Scunthorpe have ex Reading striker Simon Church and ex Yeovil top scorer Paddy Maddon, so they have goals in the team. 4-0 to the Iron? Uber for Dopey?5 points

Me too. For an event at the Cardiff arena the last time I went a month or so ago there was a train back to TM at 10.40pm and the last one was 11.20pm. I didn't make the earlier one as the concert didn't finish until 10.45pm, but easily got the last train. It was crowded but everyone got on. I think there should have been more carriages or probably idea to have another train after. For big events at the Mill Stadium or principality I think it is called now there are extra trains put on and a barriered queueing system. As you say plenty of car parks and also a choice of places to eat and drink n5 points

I would LOVE IT if the they introduced a “Football Focus Re-visited” feature and went back for more interviews today. “So Darrell, these players that you stuck with are out of all the Cups by the 2nd week in November, knocked out of 2 by lower league teams, and your inconsistent league form could land you in a relegation fight if you’ve lost control here. So, not going quite to plan ON the pitch, so, tell me how things are going on the new stadium front...? oh sorry, I’m hearing I shouldn’t mention that..! Ok, so let’s look at other areas of investment that have been made sinc5 points

Over to you Mr Lansdown. The council are incapable of building one for the good of the city so perhaps you could build one as part of your empire and all the money the council would have made you can plough back into our football club.5 points

Melksham have just had a new £5m stadium built and are in the Western Premier, so at least a division below that.4 points

They had more than that locked out from every match. Kent police had to implement Operation Stack (Google it if you don't know) when they played at Dover4 points

Mind you, if you've got a home ground like Chernobyl you probably would prefer to go away to proper stadiums.4 points

he'll get another job and deserves one to be honest, he's a good manager done wonders on a conference south budget,4 points

Agree. Anybody attending the matches is letting all EFL fans down by helping support this farce of a competition. Ideally their crowds would be much, much lower.4 points

Darryls Season strategy Concentrate on FA Cup Concentrate on Caraboao Cup if fall, out of FA Cup,and Carabao Cup - ensure progress in Checkatrade Trophy Ensure detail input into new stadium Ensure detailed input into new training ground ahhhhhhh well Mind The Gap4 points

In comparison to Temple Meads the socio economic benefit would be low. An arena at Temple Meads would greatly to Bristol culture and benefit Ashton, Bedminster, Briz, Totterdown ... I may be underselling that cultural melting pot of Filton here ... But I doubt it.3 points

The bloke is an absolute belter on Twitter. Went from declaring Leeds would win the league one week to demanding the manager be sacked a week later.3 points

Disagree with this on so many levels. Other than the fact Filton has a building big enough to house an arena, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to have it there. You suggest TM does not have the transport links.....uh? Mainline station, M32, major A roads, central bus terminals, sufficient parking provision within 10/15 minutes walk .......Jesus, you can even get a ferry to TQ! The transport links for Filton is essentially the car! People from all over Bristol and beyond will descend en masse into and through North Bristol in what is already a gridlocked area and that's even b3 points

Gateshead has a cracking ground and they're level six or seven so somewhere below that. Cherry Red Records Hellenic League would be my guess.3 points

Thoroughly disagree with this. Rail links to Cardiff from Bristol are great, trains regularly and on time every hour. Plenty of multi story car parking in Cardiff, always with spaces on concert nights. Naturally 10k people going to some sort of gig or comedy gig all arriving/leaving around the same time naturally going to cause congestion, that is the same anywhere in the UK. But to say Cardiff doesn't have the infrastructure simply isn't true. Compared to Bristol they are light-years ahead of us. 1 minor crash in Hotwells or the Cumberland basin is enough to bring this City to3 points

Interesting at the start, where he makes it sound like he’s correcting Garth Crooks, when he claimed that he could have bought “ANY premier league club”. By using clever exclamation, he cannily disguised the fact that he was saying he “couldn’t have bought any other club”..! He lapped it up, thinking it was a ready made club, with a stadium deal already sorted and pretty much funded. Look at all those smiles and jovial quips from him & Dopey. All feels a bit different on the prospects front now lads, eh..?!3 points

It hasn't let a team of their size and stature be automatically promoted to the Championship because they are far too big for League One.3 points

Why didn’t you buy Bristol City ? !! Because , he couldn’t afford to was the correct answer3 points

Ideally the crowd would be zero. One day we’ll end up back in that competition and the same people taking the piss will ask why those teams, and their supporters, didn’t have the guts to do something about it now. I do wonder if some people enjoy taking the piss out of the Gas more than they enjoy football.3 points

I COULD almost feel sorry for Dopey...........IF it wasn't for the "happy days" quote which just goes to show what a nasty**** he really is !3 points

If you have legitimate and perfectly legal ways to avoid paying tax why wouldn't you use them? Though those IoM aircraft VAT deals do not look legal, but I digress. I don't actually think that there's anything dodgy or shady about the dealings and ownership of the club. That £10m facility, secured by a charge on the ground, is close (by my calculations) to being fully used with the drawings from it being used to fund clearing the past debts, the failed stadium costs, the annual operating losses of ?£1.2m and the interest of c. £0.6m payable on the loan. This is the height of selfishness. What about the dog walkers in Cardiff, London and Birmingham? They have to come to Bristol now to walk their dogs. Only the other day I came across a chap from Brum cussing blime he was coz he had to come to Bristol to walk his dog because dog walking areas had been swallowed up by arenas, stadia, shopping malls, entertainment parks and industrial units. Shocking!2 points

I think he had his own idea for an arena by TM so whilst he was in power and that was his baby we weren't going to get anything, and nor was anyone else. Yes our stadium could hold outdoor concerts in the summer, but the window is only for about 3 weeks I believe. We desperately need something for this city. In recent months I have gone to Cardiff and London more than Bristol, and off to Birmingham next month to see a gig, shocking. A multipurpose arena is a must and I would love it to be on the Wickes/Dreams site. Sports and concerts, hotel and parking. Transport links with the metro bu2 points

I thought George Ferguson was bad but Marvellous Marvin Rees has taken talking bullsh*t whilst doing absolutely nothing to a whole new level. The bloke is completely out of his depth.* The City is crying out for an arena, next door to Temple Meads would be ideal but we will still be having the same conversation next decade *Does anybody else know where you RESIGN from your job you have it in your contract that you are entitled to 6 months payment in lieu of notice as happened to the latest Bristol CEO. Unbelievable2 points

From our favourite bullshitting friend "They way some fans go after DC has all the hallmarks of they way our 6 fingered friends went after little Lee after a few bad results last year..... look at him now !. Also was told last night that he is on Sunderland's list of replacements.... I hope he goes because i can see him getting them promoted and that would be a very bad thing for Bristol Rovers.2 points

Just goes to show that it's not just the local press that failed to investigate the actual status of their owners, Garth Crooks suggesting that he could have bought "any club in the Premiership" is just laughable. I am sure that this forum had already identified that they were nowhere near that wealthy, but once again Wael seems happy to let the myth persist with his self deprecating reply.2 points
