Go on then, what have we ever done to try to kill off BRFC? What have we ever stopped BRFC doing? You tried to kill us off in the early 80's by blocking a rescue grant from the council, hoping we would die so you could get your hands on our stadium (sound familiar?). You also tried to block the potential World cup host city to stop us getting Ashton Vale. The fact the city of Bristol would have made £Millions and we would have paid for the stadium ourselves was beyond your club as they apparently thought we were getting something for nothing. There's only 1 club in this city that sponges everything and it isn't city. Essentially r**ers have tried everything they can do to hold us back to make themselves look better. Unlucky, we've left you eons behind anyway! You might be a nice person but, personally, I detest your pointless little club, they absolutely disgust me! Rant over.35 points

Rob as a fan in those dark days I can assure you that me and many many others are very much alive and hate the bastards for what they tried to do at that time. Plenty of their shithouse bitter fans from then are still skulking about too Don't airbrush local history please.30 points

Thank you, but before we all get too lovey dovey, can I just say that I hope you get well and truly dicked tomorrow. also that a thunderstorm strikes south Bristol just as the game finishes and you all get soaked walking back to your cars to add to the misery7 points

ITN and Miah are decent posters glad that they are allowed to post on here. Banter is healthy.5 points

Thanks Monkeh. How anyone who was around in those dark days can think any differently is totally beyond me TBH. I will never forget what they tried to do. I can understand young 'uns having a different opinion as we never play them any more but, if fans were around in the early 80's, they would know r**vers tried to finish us off and very nearly succeeded!5 points

Not really. You are on our forum. We are obviously going to focus on your wrong doings, rather than ours..! Anyway, please link the sources from our recent attacks on Mother’s out shopping with their kids, numerous instances of horses being punched and several of fans attacking players. Our supporters club officers stealing their funds, our supporters making up public lies about yours attacking disabled supporters so severely that they change code, regular reports of players being racially abused at matches..... shall I go on...?!4 points

I'm not 'on' their forum, but I do look at it from time to time. As we know, they are searching frantically for a new striker, or a Number 9 as they call it. Andy Cole's son, Devante, has been touted as a possible replacement, but it seems some are less than confident.... 'I hope the club officials are more confident on getting something tomorrow!! Still not having a replacement for Ellis a day before the first game is a shambles, regardless of the opposition. They have had long enough to get the right player in, and maybe they will, but it’s not ideal preparation as is standard with Rovers these days. More likely to sign Dwight Yorke's son than Andy Cole's...'4 points

But there are fans of a certaian age that remember it. They actively tried to take advantage from our situation. Just like they were the only professional (losely termed ) sports club in the region to not back Ashton vale for the World Cup bid. Never has the term . A leopard doesn’t change its spots been more apt. Whist also crying the victim for everything since 86 and getting evicted from the dog track. Reep what you sow. **** um4 points

Miah, I totally agree with the second bit and enjoy plenty of banter both giving and taking, it's all good fun and I'm too bloody old to do anything else anyway. The first bit is wrong with all respect, the fact is that r**ers did stop a council 'bail out' loan hoping to get their hands on the Gate when we died. Absolutely shameful behaviour and explains why those of us of a certain age, don't have any time for your CLUB. It reminds me of vultures looking to feed after a kill. That, in my opinion and it was well covered at the time, is exactly what your club did and I, for one, won't forget it. I appreciate those that run your club now are a different group but, I'm sure, you would feel the same if the roles were reversed. As Super says, you and ITN are more than welcome on here and add to the forum.3 points

Didn't realise there was a time embargo on what could be mentioned, rather strange as this conversation started by a poster stating that Gasheads are scum, due to something that happened in 1982! To be honest, we could both compile lengthy lists of wrong doings, by both our own, (if we're being truthful), and the other club's "supporters". Just a vacuous willy waving contest really.3 points

Another quote from their forum: “Apparently it only takes two or three days to erect the east stands.” It’s obvious their builders are so much more advanced than the ones used to develop Ashton Gate, as each stand there took a year. Steve Lansdown missed a trick and should have contacted Wael for advice3 points

It’s hardly a rumour, although some of them seem to live in La La Land and still believe the fake Sheikh will deliver them a temple built of gold........3 points

What sort of thing, Miah? Something like, say a club trying to steal their rival's ground when their rival was in financial jeopardy?3 points

Sad little club being left behind in the dark ages. Just look at the place. What a disgrace. It's laughable that some of their fans criticise other grounds when their place resembles a refugee camp in a scrap yard. I would be ashamed to watch football there. Then there's their small minded bitter fans who get more satisfaction when we lose as opposed to when they win.2 points

22 years ago, if yours was the same i wouldn't of mentioned it, I could also add headbutting coaches stealing supporters trust money, stealing items from the dressing room, punching police horses2 points

I am only responding to his responses which are in the present. People are trying to give examples why they refer to Rovers as scum, he replies with what appear to be justifications. Does a timescale matter? And, some of them might be dead but, there are plenty of people alive who remember the events of those times vividly, I'm one of them. To dismiss them as being "a long time ago" is like dismissing the history of the club. It happened but let's forgive eh, because it was a long time ago? NO, never forget, the club appear no different than they've always been. Trying to get something for nothing and not caring who they trample over to get it.2 points

I was once asked by a mate what I’d do if I won the lottery....I said I’d buy the roverzzz and turn them into a darts team....”Oh yeah?” he replied “and what would you do if you got 4 numbers?” (Just like women, the old ones are the best!)2 points

I think if people are throwing around words like 'scum' to describe football clubs and supporters then they need to get a sense of perspective.2 points

None of us care in particular, but if they keep lining up the opportunities the clearly we will continue to mock.1 point

It doesn't and at the time I felt outrage at the incident but I think I am a bit older now and possibly a bit more chilled (but don't ask the wife or grand children)1 point

....fair enough, so why contribute to a thread dedicated to the blue few?! And you’re right, Swindon is pretty hideous but surely that doesn’t mean a wedding do taking place there deserves to be trashed by the sags?!1 point
-
Didn’t their fans also gatecrash a wedding do on the way back from an away game many years ago and cause mayhem, during which the groom got punched? If so, pretty scummy thing to do....1 point

I am quite enjoying that our under 23 team will soon have a (much) better stadium than their first team. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-citys-state-art-training-18606991 point
