  1. Is this them trying to prove they are "model fans" after all? *Sorry that only took half a day and a nights sleep, and probably still not worth it.

  2. Don't forget the banner over the M32 when City played Hull in the play off final, Don't forget when Ashton Vale was put forward as a host for World cup matches every club in the Southwest supported City's bid except one. I for one want them to go out of business.

  3. What a ******* game, Bath made far too many mistakes and Bristol fought for their lives. Thoroughly enjoyed that. Great start and beating Bath as always a huge bonus.

  8. This. I will go one further. Moron FC are the most irrelevant in World Football. To be second best to a club, that has bounced between 2nd and 3rd division football, and yet still be worse!! They are like Port Fail ... But Port Fail I would presume, don't think they have superior "loyal and True" fans louder than the kop, and feel they are on a par with Leeds.

  12. JBFC II could be just pointing out that Rovers are miles behind us and the Rugby when it comes to support in Bristol. Personally I think that’s worth mentioning especially as the money from the higher attendances at the Gate for football and rugby go to our owners. In the meantime they bum around in the tent city they nicked without a pot to piss in.

  13. Why not? Really don’t see the sense in missing ANY opportunity to ridicule them ?

  17. Not only that but by splitting the local support and investment they are actually preventing a Bristolian team being near the top of English football with all the benefits that would bring to our city. They are actually a stain, a total embarrassment, a liability.

  19. Not sure it is There is a lot of rugby interest around the region, having the big local derby on a Friday night when there is nothing else on also helps They will struggle with the upcoming Saturday fixtures as a lot of Bristol's support comes from combination players and members - sadly the hierarchy at AG8 have failed to pick up on this

  20. Port Vale play in a proper stadium too. Rovers could only dream of something like this.. https://www.footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-two/vale-park-port-vale.html

  21. It’s very, very different. I’m 2 seasons in and been to nearly every home game and I’m still staggered at the differences. Actually it was The Bristol v Bath game that was pretty much the only game I missed during that time, and that was only because I was still up in Newcastle after watching us play. Main differences: fans aren’t segregated at all. Hardly any singing except for ‘Bristol, Bristol’ now and again. Fans are up and out from their seats only to get more cider and go to the toilet, this is constant during the match. Rarely do they jump to their feet for anything else, eg scoring. In fact I have found that rugby fans don’t seem to concentrate on the match like football fans do, they are chatting and drinking and most of the time the match just seems to be going on in the background. Very different from my football experience where each players every move is willed on or groaned at (sometimes in sympathy and sometimes in frustration). There is a lot less clapping players efforts and jumping to your feet at key moments. There is total silence when a try is being converted, that applys for both teams as unlike football you don’t try to intimidate the opposition. Hopefully some of the edgyness of a football derby will happen tonight, as if fans don’t get to their feet during a Bristol v Bath rugby match they never will. I do like rugby, but i will never feel the same passion for it as football, it’s just so different.

  24. Bill was a top bloke, and a massive footy fan (but I honestly can't remember him being a City fan) - I played football with Ian for some time at Longwell Green and North Avon when we were kids (under 12's etc) - Trust me even then he was hell of a player BUT my best memory was at Secondary School when I scored a Hat Trick for my school (Broadlands Keynsham) against SBL who Ian was playing for AND I sure made a point during the game of my 3 goal achievement to him

  26. And now today, Stevenage have brought in a defender on loan from Championship Birmingham. Something the gas can only dream of, or did they simply not have the gumption to ask for?

  28. When Bristol Rugby came across town & snuggled up under Bristol Sport umberella, I was happy enough to welcome them in. I even wondered if I might develop a new found interest in the game of Rugby. It transpires that whilst it doesn’t bother me that they play at Ashton Gate, the more events the better, imo, and I find I hear the results and hope that Bristol win, I couldn’t really care less, I find the Rugby supporters to generally be obnoxious tossers and the game in general is shite to watch and outside of international matches, is utterly uninspiring. Oh, any anyone who refers to Bristol as “Bris” needs a slap..!

  29. If the rugby club was still at their proper home they would still have played this game at AG, no doubts about that.

  31. You should've heard Holloway on TalkSport on the opening day v Forest as he was at AG doing co-commentary. He was absolutely raving about the facilities and atmosphere at AG. Said he was desperate for City to make the Premier League (he's presumably given up all hope of the other lot doing it). It's the first time I've heard him speak and felt he genuinely sounded like he wished us well. Can't really blame him for not wanting to be associated with the other lot anymore, just a complete embarrassment to him I'd imagine.

  33. Exactly this! I’ve met many Rovers down the years, most of whom display a vicious hatred of us. So much so that you naturally assume they are die hard gasheads who go week in, week out - before it transpires that they hardly ever actually bother to watch their own matches. Bitter, twisted, angry, horrible breed of people with no sense of reason or reality. The sooner they go bust the better and I for one will celebrate, long & loud!

  36. Re the banner: That was probably just payback for 1990. Karma and all that. Sorry. As for Ashton Vale, that really did show them in their true colours - hosting World Cup games would have been a massive boost for all Bristolians, the city as a whole, the wider region. Yet the gAssholes were only interested in petty, small-minded points scoring - utterly pathetic and utterly typical.

  37. As I said above Hollowhead the player left Rovers for Wimbledon, then QPR without a 2nd thought. Couldn't wait to get away. He's like numerous Bristolians I've met over the years, professes to be a 'lifelong gashead' when it suits him but actually lost active interest in them long ago. These Rovers 'fans' haven't attended a game in years but remain fiercely anti City and that is their only real interest in local football - a strong and abiding hatred of Bristol City FC., and a yearning to see us fail. These bitter old (ex.) sags wish us ill far more than they wish Rovers well.
