Being correct is not pedantry. One is an evidence based, peer reviewed science, the other is a snake oil salesman. Next time you’re in The Three Lions why not buy a copy of my new book, ‘Which Tyler, and the Pedant’s Revolt.’ Price 1 pint?2 points

Following on with the Sunderland fans' appreciation subject: To Sunderland fans, we're like a semi-squashed hedgehog lying by the side of the road. They see the pathetic state of the poor beast, and say "Aww man, I really like hedgehogs, much more than those greedy arrogant bastards like cats, with their rich owners giving them everything they want. And I've always loved that spiny kit they have. Unique in the mammal world, like". With its last breath, the poor hedgehog croaks "Cheers, mackems, it means a lot to me", before rolling over and dying. No doubt @Aizoon will be able to offer some insight. On the subject of @Aizoon, where are you? Has anybody heard of him or seen him lately? I hope he is OK, as I know he is quite 'elderly'.....2 points

Yep no ones that assed about the Joshua - Miller fight but apparently he’s getting a career high payday for it. Fury’s new deal means he can make big money for fighting any top 20 ranked fighters and Wilder can make 3-5 million dollars fighting punch bags like Brazeale so there’s no incentive for them to take risks.2 points

No, it’s a random member of the public they needed to pick up from a bus stop. They needed their fare money to go towards the petrol to get them around their tour circuit.2 points

Agree with all of that. If Wilder fights and beats Breazeale he'll be the 3rd best name on his resume after Tyson and OAP Ortiz and yet the fella has won 40 fights and defended the WBC belt 8 times, which shows how much the networks can squeeze out of fighters with very little risk to their man.1 point

The problem is that in London we are viewed as country bumpkins and not deemed worthy of any investment, plus it is assumed rightly that we won't put up much of a fuss if things don't happen - like pulling the electrification through Bath to Temple Meads. Must explain in part how Liam Fox is still MP for North Somerset.....1 point

Happy Henry from Henbury. He might be from somewhere else..... So many of their signings look exactly like that though. He may as well be on his last walk to death row1 point

Correct. Fans really don't care about belts or money. They want to see the best v the best. Sadly the boxing business and arguably many of the fighters and networks don't see it the same way.1 point

Eh? How has anyone led Joshua a 'merry dance'? Who are 'they'? The main thing that's happened with Fury signing for ESPN is that all of the big HW fights are now far less likely while the networks squeeze their margin out of the fighters- indeed Wilder Fury 2 was supposed to to be in the can until this latest fuckery kicked off. Not sure how any boxing fan can be gleeful about that right now tbh.1 point

Love the use of prevalent makes being gas sound like some sort of anti social behaviour :laugh:1 point

Kingswood is Gas. I can remember seeing a photo from their open top bus trip, and the fan was definitely there. Dressed as a postman oddly, but I am pretty sure their fan was there in the distance.1 point

Do they have any? I’m not saying that there’s not more of them here than us, but it’s nowhere near as big as they’d like you to think it is. I’m born and bred here, and in the 37 years I’ve been on this Earth, I’ve known plenty of City here, I’d wager much more than the Sags have got in South Bristol.1 point

Why do they have such a need to be loved by other fans? I guess they feel it’s some kind of moral victory but how ******* embarrassing to even ask fans of another club who they prefer out of the teams in Bristol Imagine being on holiday / away day etc when some helmet from Nottingham asks you if you prefer Forest or County. Don’t care mate, only interested in my team Very odd set of fans in North Bristol1 point
